Brittany Murphy's Dad to Skip Funeral: "I Don't Want to See Her That Way"
As funeral arrangements for his daughter fall into place, Brittany Murphy's father says he had no idea how sick she reportedly was—psychologically or physically.
"I was very shocked by it," Angelo Bertolotti tells E! News. "I can't believe it really. It happened so fast; I'm just trying to figure it all out right now. I'm very upset by it."
Bertolotti, who hadn't spoken to the Uptown Girls star for more than a year and who had never met her husband, Simon Monjack, says he will not be attending Murphy's funeral tomorrow evening at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills.
"If I wanted to go, I would go, but I don't want to see her that

No Simon, No Problem? Fox Still Wants More Idol
8 hours ago
The show must go on—even without its snarky, British center of attention, apparently.
Despite the news from a seemingly solid source (it was the guy's brother, for goodness' sake!) that Simon Cowell plans to end his stint as a judge on American Idol after the upcoming 2010 season, the show's ninth, Fox is reportedly willing to go on without him.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the network and Idol producers FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment are close to inking a deal that will keep the still-chugging talent show on the air for another three seasons.
That's three seasons after their current contract ends in 2011, mind you...
Fox refused to comment, and

Jersey Shore: Fellow Italian-American Reality Star Weighs In
8 hours ago
If the Jersey Shore stars are ever feeling a bit beat up from being trashed by fellow Italian-Americans, they should take a trip to see Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro at his Hoboken bakery.
The master baker tells me he's not put off by their antics or what critics say promotes negative stereotypes. "Being Italian-American, I'm not like, 'Oh, my god. I'm so offended by it," Valastro says. "It's taken out of context."
Valastro admits he hasn't watched an episode yet of the MTV reality series, but…
"I was on the Jersey Shore," he says. "My buddies and I had a house in Seaside Heights. We lived there for the summer. So I know what that scene is like and I

Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins: It's Over
9 hours ago
File this under a Christmas bummer.
Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have ended their run as one of Hollywood's most enduring power couples.
"Actress Susan Sarandon and her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins, have announced that they separated over the summer," her publicist, Teal Cannaday, tells People. "No further comments will be made.
Theirs had been a fruitful relationship both on- and offscreen.
Robbins, 51, and Sarandon, 62, met while filming the minor-league baseball classic Bull Durham in 1988 and went on to have two sons together, 20-year-old Jack and 17-year-old Miles.
Other joint credits for the Oscar-owning tandem included the death-penalty

Bad Timing Alert! Chilling Brittany Murphy Movie Art Pulled
9 hours ago
It's an eerie and tragic example of life imitating art.
In a dreadful case of bad timing, Brittany Murphy's sudden death on Sunday has forced the DVD rental company Redbox to yank box art images from its kiosks nationwide for the actress's latest film, Deadline.
The cover shows the 32-year-old's character lying lifeless in a bathtub.
Murphy, of course, collapsed in the bathroom of her Hollywood Hills home Sunday morning and, after unsuccessful attempts by family and paramedics to revive her, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
And that sent Redbox scrambling when it realized what was on the cover of the straight-to-dvd horror thriller.
"We are removing the

Link Party: Time to Start Your Eclipse Countdown?
• Eclipse is out in just six months! Time to start getting excited as various stills from the film start rolling in. (And yes, we know this photo was in People's New Moon Special Collector Edition Extravaganza, but now it has no logos!)
• Ricky Gervais torturing Elmo on Sesame Street with a celebrity lullaby is the best. Now, who's extra excited for the Golden Globes?!
• Kate Gosselin might be off that The View for Moms show she shot a pilot for. Apparently she's "too controversial" and took too much attention away from Paula Deen.
• Yikes! The cover art for Brittany Murphy's recent release Deadline is unfortunate.

Did Domestic Violence Play Role in Courtney Love Losing Custody of Daughter?
Does a new court filing hint at some of the friction that caused Courtney Love to lose legal custody of daughter Frances Bean Cobain?
Lawyers representing Frances' new guardians, her paternal grandmother and aunt, have filed a motion to have all records from the proceeding be sealed from the public, including "allegations of domestic violence," according to the filed documents obtained by E! News.
View the court docs.
If the judge doesn't agree to a wholesale hiding of the paperwork, the lawyers ask that Frances' "personal and medical information," including any "allegations of domestic violence," be blocked from public consumption.
Love was stripped of custody of

Michael Jackson's Doc Not Ready for His Closeup

Michael Jackson starred in a posthumous documentary. His brothers are doing their own reality show. But his former physican isn't going Hollywood.
A rep for the embattled Dr. Conrad Murray says there are no plans for him to appear in a television special, despite reports suggesting otherwise.
"There is no proposed deal," says spokeswoman Miranda Sevcik. "They were thinking about doing something in the future, but it's been blown way out of proportion."
Sevcik says a British production crew followed the cardiologist around for one day in November as he visited with patients and friends, with the goal being to record his patients' reactions to Murray being back at

Mother-in-Law "Absolutely Devastated" by Brittany Murphy's Death
10 hours ago
It's more than any mom can bear.
Brittany Murphy's mother-in-law, Linda Monjack, tells E! News today that she is "absolutely devastated" by the shocking death of her daughter-in-law.
Monjack, a therapist who lives in England, says she is scrambling to make arrangements to fly to Los Angeles so she can be by the side of her son, Simon Monjack, for the funeral tomorrow.
"Depends if I can get the flight," she says.
Linda Monjack, who attended the couple's nuptials in 2007, would be able to put her training as a bereavement counselor to good use.
Asked if she knew if her daughter-in-law was suffering from any maladies that might have triggered cardiac

Johnny Knoxville's Latest Stunt—Father of Two
10 hours ago
A round of applause for Philip John Clapp.
Aka Johnny Knoxville, who welcomed a son over the weekend, his first child with girlfriend Naomi Nelson.
Rocko Akira Clapp (sure, why not?) was born Sunday, weighing 8 pounds and measuring 20 inches, per the L.A. Times.
Knoxville is also dad to a 13-year-old daughter, Madison, with ex-wife Melanie. The two divorced last year.
The Jackass star has been lying relatively low (i.e., not barreling headfirst into cinder blocks, or whatnot) since Lax security found a prop grenade in his luggage in January. Lately, he's been executive-producing and appearing occasionally on the MTV2 show Nitro Circus.

Amy Winehouse Charged With Assault...Again
10 hours ago
Amy Winehouse started 2009 off with an assault charge and might as well end it with one too, right? It's not like she's about to grow and learn from her mistakes or anything. Too much work. She did have time to get a boob job somewhere in the middle there, so there's that!
But back to Wino's current dramz. The 26-year-old singer has been arrested and charged with a public order offense and common assault after turning herself in to Thames Valley Police.
The charges stem from an altercation that happened at the Milton Keynes Theater over the weekend. Police aren't giving any details of the incident, but the British tabs say she was a mess during a production of Cinderella—heckling,

Preview Brittany Murphy's Final Film, Abandoned
12 hours ago
Abandoned will be known as Brittany Murphy's final film. Shot back in June, she stars as a woman searching for her husband (Dean Cain) after he mysteriously disappears from a hospital following surgery. Of course, it's way harder than just a normal missing-person search because no one believes her due to her history of psychiatric issues. Just look at that doctor in the 45-second clip above giving her a hard time.
Speaking out to Extra, the film's director, Michael Feifer, counters rumors that Brittany was difficult to work with. "She glowed all the time," he remembers. "I had a really sweet relationship with her. She was always on the

Chelsea Handler Blog: Audrina Patridge, a Star?
Star Magazine is reporting that Audrina Patridge is planning where her Hollywood Walk of Fame star will be located. She wants it to be somewhere "cool" like near James Dean or Johnny Depp.
The biggest problem with this story is that there are currently no plans for her to receive a star, and I have serious doubts that there ever will be. Although I've certainly seen some names I don't recognize on that sidewalk, none of them have ever been a half-retarded reality-show star who is best known for Carl's Jr. commercials. I think the owner of Carl's Jr., who I assume is named Carl, should have one before she does.
If she somehow gets one, I doubt she'll get to pick the location.

Richard and Mayumi Heene didn't quite get their "Christmas miracle."
The couple who wanted America to believe that their 6-year-old son, Falcon, was adrift in a runaway balloon both were sentenced to jail time for crafting a hoax that first captivated then horrified the nation.
Before learning his fate, a visibly shaken Richard offered a choked-up mea culpa: "I want to reiterate that I'm very, very sorry, and I'm going to apologize to all the rescue workers."
His lawyer, David Lane, also said Richard accepted full responsibility and begged for leniency for his wife.
"If anyone has to go to jail here, your honor, it's Richard Heene...Do not send his
