Sr Pick [Video]: Twilight: New Moon In a Minute

The folks behind the YouTube channel jacksfilms are certainly not fans of The Twilight Saga: New Moon or its recent success as a worldwide phenomenon. Luckily for us, they used their emotion to drive creativity and decided to remake the film themselves… in a minute.

The short New Moon parody can be seen below and is definitely worth a viewing for fans and non-fans alike.

Disclaimer: The editorial views in this video are not necessarily those of Screen Rant or its writing staff.

Watch and enjoy

It’s all in the details. Did you get a laugh from the video?

New Moon was directed by Chris Weitz and stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Ashley Greene among many others in its large cast.

As you no doubt already know, New Moon is currently out in theaters everywhere and its sequel, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, releases in a matter of months, »

Fantastic Mr. Fox Review

Short Version: Fantastic Mr. Fox is a pleasantly surprising film that is odd, witty, and probably more fun for adults than kids.

Screen Rant Reviews Fantastic Mr. Fox

I am not a Wes Anderson fan. Rushmore didn’t make me swoon; The Royal Tenenbaums made me groan; The Life Aquatic was no “masterpiece” far as I could tell and I didn’t even bother with The Darjeeling Limited. In fact, everything Anderson has done after Bottle Rocket has ultimately fallen on my cinematic bad side. Hearing his name brought up in classrooms and discussed as if he is the Shakespeare of cinema has only compounded that antagonism. If we were to play the word association game and you said “Wes Anderson” my immediate response would likely be “Pretentious and overrated.”

I went to see Fantastic Mr. Fox because, frankly, somebody on the site needed to review it. I wasn’t expecting much. »

Chronicles of Riddick Sequel Begins Location Scouting

For those of you looking for the return of Vin Diesel as arguably his best on-screen character, Riddick, it looks like it’s one step closer to reality.

On his Facebook page yesterday, Diesel put up an update which included a line revealing that the team behind the next Riddick movie were scouting out locations already – a great thing to hear for those of us anticipating the sequel to 2004’s Chronicles of Riddick.

“The Riddick team is in New Zealand location scouting already… that’s exciting”

The last we heard on the Riddick 3 front was from writer David Twohy, the man who wrote A Perfect Getaway in addition to writing and directing the Riddick films. That was back in August and at the time, he was working out two ideas for the sequel, one of which that would be Rated R. There was studio interest in another PG-13 version, but »

Facebook Movie Justin Timberlake Set Pic

What man under 30 has the stones to rock a black blazer over a black t-shirt?  An internet mogul.  This ain’t news to Justin Timberlake.  Merely news to us, courtesy of The Daily Mail.  What else is up with the coming Facebook movie (other than Timberkale perfectly embodying the “I’ll take your money, but I’ll never play by your rules” ethos), you ask?

Well, it’s called The Social Network and it’s being directed by David Fincher, who helmed Seven, Fight Club, The Game and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.  Today, we have the first official set pic from the film, featuring Timberlake embodying the look of the aforementioned mogul.

The Social Network is adapted from the book The Accidental Billionaires written by Ben Mezrich of Bringing Down the House fame. The screenplay was written by Aaron Sorkin, who created The West Wing and wrote A Few Good Men. »

Tom Hardy Talks Mad Max

In recent months there have been many rumblings about Mad Max 4, specifically entitled,  Mad Max: Fury Road. All have been covered here on Screen Rant – but the main one is that British actor Tom Hardy (Bronson) was being eyed to replace Mel Gibson in the titular role of Max.

No official announcement has been made about the role, but Hardy spoke exclusively with MTV about his possible appearance in the film – and he seems to be as uncertain (or unforthcoming) about the details of the film (which is due to shoot down-under next year) as director George Miller and Mel Gibson.

MTV’s Josh Horowitz quizzed the actor about the film and Hardy stated that he was far from a lock for the film:

George hasn’t actually confirmed that. It’s strongly coming in my direction. I would be preparing for that role.”

When asked how he »

No ‘Hancock 2′ Anytime Soon

There’s been much talk about a sequel to the 2008 surprise superhero hit, Hancock, with conversation picking up particularly when it comes to the cast of Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman possibly returning to do another. Director Peter Berg said a few months ago that everyone was excited to return, but not long after that Bateman came out and said he hadn’t heard anything about him returning (we’re still not sure if that cluelessness was applicable to Smith and Theron, too).

However, when Berg sounded pretty excited about directing Hancock 2, that was before he landed the Battleship gig, a big-screen adaptation set for release in 2011 with a production start date of Spring 2010. That ties Berg up a lot for what I would guess would be the better part of a year. And that appears to be one of the big reasons why we shouldn’t expect Hancock 2 anytime soon. »

Lots of Details About Peter Berg’s ‘Battleship’

As if the idea of a movie based on the board game Battleship wasn’t worrying enough, it was recently announced that the bad guys are going to be aliens. Although, Fyi, take my opinion about the antagonists with a big grain of salt, as I don’t think a Battleship movie is a good idea to begin with.

It appears that studio Universal and director Peter Berg have been lending their ears to the negative reaction their Battleship movie has gotten – particularly about the aliens being the “villains,” and so the studio sent some journalists and bloggers to the U.S.S. Sterett, where they got a chance to ask questions to Berg about the project.

Thanks to reports from Latino Review and Chud, we now have some insight into what shape Berg’s Battleship may take:

Zombieland Gets 3D Sequel

It was a rumor and now it’s turning out to be true: Zombieland, this fall’s hit horror/comedy (and the current no. 1 pirated movie on the Internet) will in fact be getting a sequel – in 3D, no less.

Variety has confirmed the news (which first circulated around the blogosphere about a week ago), adding more fuel to a fire we here at Screen Rant lit under our butts, with a lengthy op-ed about the Zombieland piracy controversy.

So, with the fuel added, let the fire burn anew…

For a while it seemed as though all the rampant downloading had plunged Zombieland’s financial viability into question, with hopes for a sequel hanging in the balance. However, it now seems that Sony is indeed moving forward with a sequel, hoping that the 3D format will give the film a box office boost.

Reportedly, Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer and producer »

Rumor: The Hobbit Delayed Until 2012?

This could either be another piece of false news that Guillermo del Toro or Peter Jackson will soon debunk, or a pretty major downer for us fans: Hot on the heels of Jackson revealing a few days ago that The Hobbit will start filming in summer 2010 – putting it on course for Part 1’s already-planned release of December 2011 – word comes that the adaptation will be delayed a full year, not hitting screens until 2012.

The rumor (as we’re treating it until it’s confirmed otherwise) comes from TheWrap’s column WaxWord, which claims that executives close to Warner Bros. are saying that the studio is likely not going to release Part 1 of The Hobbit until 2012, with Part 2 logically being delayed until 2013.  An unnamed executive told WaxWord that, “While it is still possible that it could come out in December 2011, it looks more likely to be 2012.”

Strangely, there’s no detailed information on a possible Hobbit delay, »

Four Images from Karate Kid Remake

Sony has released the first official images of The Karate Kid remake (formerly known as The Kung-Fu Kid). The images, which come to us courtesy of /Film, show Jaden Smith’s character, Dre, training with Jackie Chan’s character, Mr. Han; splashing around with his Chinese girlfriend; and showing off some pretty impressive flexibility.

To be honest, none of these four pictures are particularly exciting to me. I guess I’m still having a hard time wrapping my head around why there is a remake of The Karate Kid in the first place. I’m not being ironic or nostalgic when I say that the original Karate Kid is one of my favorite movies to watch. I enjoy the story, the acting is solid, and I like how the movie has a message without pandering to the audience. Plus, you know, it has that Joe Esposito song, “You’re the Best Around. »

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows First Official Image

Harry Potter fans are going to have a good 2010. In addition to the opening of Universal’s Harry Potter theme park, fans will get to finally see the first installment of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series. Directed by David Yates, who also directed the fourth and fifth films in the franchise, Deathly Hallows will show Harry, Ron, and Hermione facing their most difficult challenges yet, as the evil Lord Voldemort is threatening much of the wizarding and muggle worlds.

In a recent article for USA Today, Yates expanded on his desire to make part one of The Deathly Hallows more realistic.

“It’s going to feel very real. We’re going for a vérité approach. Being away from Hogwarts, they’re like these three refugees on the run. They’re out in the big bad world, facing real danger, »

‘Tron Legacy’ Team Remaking Disney’s ‘The Black Hole’

1 December 2009 2:25 PM, PST

The remake/reboot/prequel game is now in full swing around Hollywood, but Disney has shown some promise in this area with the likes of the upcoming Tron Legacy, which made a huge (and somewhat unexpected) splash this past summer at Comic Con. If you haven’t seen the Tron Legacy trailer, then you probably don’t yet know why polishing up an old property can sometimes be a good thing.

Well, Disney is now dusting off another old property and giving it a modern polish -- this time it’s the 1970s “groundbreaking” sci-fi adventure, The Black Hole, which is being put in the hands of the Tron Legacy team and the scribe of the upcoming Clash of The Titans remake.

The actual names behind this project are Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski, producer Sean Bailey and Clash of The Titans writer Travis Beacham. If you’re like me, »

Harlan Ellison Offers To Pen Star Trek 2

1 December 2009 10:42 AM, PST

Writing a script for the sequel to J.J. AbramsStar Trek reboot is the most fun job in the world – but hey, Somebody has got to do it.

You would think that bit of hyperbole is the actual case, from the way acclaimed sci-fi writer Harlan Ellison (The Outer Limits, Star Trek, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour) is approaching it. Ellison recently posted on his blog that he is Totally willing to step up and handle the scripting duties for Star Trek 2. The man has worked on Star Trek projects before – although not without a tiny bit of controversy.

You Trekkies out there probably already know that Ellison is the often-volatile writer behind famous sci-fi controversies involving some of the genre’s biggest properties.

There the instance in which Ellison claimed that James Cameron had stolen concepts for The Terminator from two of Ellison’s Outer Limits episodes (”Demon with »

‘The Hangover’ Director Talks About Sequel

1 December 2009 9:33 AM, PST

Chances are if you’re a fan of comedies and live anywhere near a movie theater, then you were one of the many people who went to see Todd Phillip’s hilarious bachelor-comedy, The Hangover. The film went on to become the single highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all time, raking in over $450 million worldwide from a budget of $35 million.

That’s impressive for a film that didn’t seem like it would make that big of a splash. Just something about it – on top of it being genuinely funny pretty much from start to finish – connected with a wide audience and people went out to see it in droves.

With the success of the film, a sequel was pretty much inevitable. The Hangover 2 (as it’s being dubbed for the time being) is already in the works, and returning director, Todd Phillips, tells EW that he’s half-way through »

Twilight’s ‘Breaking Dawn’ To Be Split Into Two Movies?

1 December 2009 9:13 AM, PST

It looks like the The Twilight Saga franchise is taking a leaf out of Harry Potter’s book and splitting into two films. Variety is reporting that studio Summit Entertainment is considering splitting the fourth and last installment of the franchise, Breaking Dawn, into two movies – much like the Harry Potter franchise is doing with its last film, Deathly Hallows.

Sources are saying that the furthest Summit has gone with developing Breaking Dawn is getting Melissa Rosenberg to write the script after writing the first three. Of course, splitting the fourth film into two parts would mean Summit toppers, Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger, having to cut bigger checks (particularly for stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson) – and there’s also the question of whether or not New Moon director, Chris Weitz, will react favorably to overtures from the company and the cast to return and shoot two films back-to-back. »

Kill Bill 3 Not Tarantino’s Next Movie & Title Will Change

1 December 2009 8:08 AM, PST

When writer/director, Quentin Tarantino, announced his plans to make Kill Bill 3 a couple of months ago, one of the many speculative questions on fans’ lips was how can they make a Kill Bill 3 if the titular Bill [spoiler alert!] was killed at the end of Vol. 2? [end spoiler]. The saga of Uma Thurman’s yellow-haired, sword-wielding Bride was tied up perfectly at the end of the second film, and it’s just not possible to carry on the story of her and Bill (because there is no story to continue!).

It goes without saying that it’s an issue Mr. Tarantino would have to address when writing Kill Bill 3. But what does the man himself have to say about it? Well, MTV recently got a chance to ask Qt about the title in an interview in which he said the following – “It wouldn’t be ‘Kill Bill,’… It would be Volume 3 of the story of the Bride. »

Jeremy Renner Hints At Ultimate Hawkeye in The Avengers

1 December 2009 12:36 AM, PST

Our friend Ed Douglas had a chance to speak with the talented Jeremy Renner on behalf of SuperHeroHype yesterday at the Independent Film Gotham Awards where The Hurt Locker, for which he starred in, took home a big pile of well-deserved awards.

Renner of course made big headlines a few days ago when Empire put up an interview with him where they discussed his interest and Marvel’s interest in having him play the character of Hawkeye. Renner cleared up the current status of his involvement by revealing that they seemingly were interested in casting that character but since they’ve yet to select a director to helm the epic Avengers movie, they’ll wait until they do and see what that person wants for his/her cast.

But, we did get something interesting out of Renner in what he said about the costume ideas Marvel Studios has for the character… »
