Trailer for Adam Green's Stuck-on-a-Ski-Lift Thriller 'Frozen'

Anchor Bay Films has debuted the first official trailer for Adam Green's Frozen, the movie about the three people who get "trapped" on a ski lift. We featured the first poster for Frozen just last week as well, so you might remember hearing about it then. Although I've heard good things about this, as a skier myself, I was a bit worried it would be too cheesy (kind of like how Cliffhanger is all a bunch of Bs if you're a rock climber). But this actually looks good, I'm glad they kept them stuck for more than just one day because overnight on a ski lift would be a breeze. I'm looking forward to seeing this at Sundance. What does everyone else think? Must Watch: Hit-Girl Gets Her Own Red Band Kick-Ass Trailer

Now this is why I love Hit-Girl so damn much! Although the movie Kick-Ass is about the kid named Dave Lizewski who becomes the costumed hero known as Kick-Ass, he meets some other characters along the way (including Christopher Mintz-Plasse who plays a hero called Red Mist). However, one of the craziest people he comes across is an 12-year-old girl named Hit-Girl played by Chloe Moretz. And yes, she kicks serious ass. If you've been wondering why this is going to be Rated-r, then here's a few reasons. Matthew Vaughn does not cut back on bit on the violence and it's gruesome but completely awesome. Watch this right now! Watch the Hit-Girl red band trailer for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass: Kick-Ass is both written and directed by British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, of Layer Cake and Stardust previously. The screenplay was co-written by Vaughn and his writing partner Jane Goldman, …

Meet Gru's Minions in a Third Despicable Me Teaser Trailer

Okay, now I'm just getting confused. It seems like Universal is slowly trying to introduce different elements of the movie and bits and pieces of the story through multiple teaser trailers for their new animated comedy Despicable Me starring Steve Carell. This is the third teaser trailer for the movie since July (the second one hit last month). However, this teaser is only used to introduce us to Gru's little, yellow Minions who, I guess, will be helping Gru steal the moon. While there are only two of them in this trailer, there is an "entire army" of them in the movie. Although I hated the last two teasers, this is starting to look a little bit better. Watch the third teaser trailer for Universal's Despicable Me: You can also watch the third trailer for Despicable Me in High Definition on Apple A trio of orphan girls cause the …

Watch the Trailer for Taika Waititi's New Sundance Film 'Boy'

I'm a bit hesitant about featuring this since I don't like watching trailers for Sundance films before going to Sundance, but I thought why the hell not. Boy is the new film from New Zealand comedian / filmmaker Taika Waititi, better known as Taika Cohen, who directed Eagle vs Shark in 2007 (read my review). Quiet Earth, who was the first to find the trailer, just emailed me about it, as I've been looking forward to seeing Taiki's follow-up to Eagle vs Shark. It was announced a few weeks ago that Boy would be premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in January. After watching this trailer, I definitely can't wait to see this there. Enjoy! Watch the first trailer for Taika Waititi's Boy: [flv:http://media2.firstshowing.net/firstshowing/boy-first-trailer-rutube.flv http://media2.firstshowing.net/firstshowing/boy-first-trailer-rutube.jpg 580 322] When his father returns after many years away, 11-year-old Boy (James Rolleston) and his little brother Rocky (Te Aho Aho Eketone-Whitu) must reconcile reality with a …

Sundance Adds 3 More New Films to the Exciting 2010 Line-Up

In what Anne Thompson calls a "surprise last minute move," Sundance has announced today the addition of three new world premieres. It's a surprise because Sundance doesn't usually add any last minute films after the line-up has already been revealed. However, I remember they added Hamlet 2 last minute as well, and last year (2009) they added Sam Rockwell's The Winning Season late. "When the opportunity to screen the latest films from three extremely innovative storytellers presented itself, we knew we could not deny our audiences," said John Cooper, Director of the Sundance Film Festival. Read on to find out what they are! The three new films added to the Sundance 2010 line-up are as follows: It's a Wonderful Afterlife (Director: Gurinder Chadha; Screenwriters: Paul Mayeda Berges and Gurinder Chadha) — A comedy centered on an Indian mother who discovers that finding the perfect son-in-law can be murder. Cast: Shabana Azmi, Goldy …

Rumor: DC Comics Wants Hawkman to Get His Own Movie?

Oh no, even more unnecessary superhero movies? According to Pajiba, DC Comics and Warner Brothers are developing a Hawkman movie that is being described as "part Indiana Jones, part Da Vinci Code and part Ghost." Not only does that not make much sense anyway, but I don't see how a Hawkman movie could be as good as any of those. Besides his flying harness (that's made of "special Nth metal that allows" him to fly), Hawkman is an archaeologist by trade and uses ancient weapons from the museum of which he is curator of in his crimefighting efforts. This sounds like a big joke, which is why we're reporting it as a rumor for now. Hawkman, not to be confused with the Marvel character Hawkeye that may be in The Avengers movie, first appeared in Flash Comics #1 in 1940. He's been around for a while but he's not really a …

Second Teaser Poster for Chris Nolan's Inception Discovered

Last week the first teaser poster for Christopher Nolan's Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio was found on a new viral site for the movie located at: YourMindistheSceneoftheCrime.com. The mini-game called Mind Crime allows users to make a maze and play through the maze in a virtual city. If you were to publish a link and then play the game through that link, you'd find that the "asset" revealed at the end was this second poster - but we don't have a high res version. This time there is only a smaller version of the poster available (see below) but it still looks great. I love the look and design of this, can't wait for the second trailer, too! If you haven't seen it yet, we ran the teaser trailer for Inception in August. It looks pretty awesome so far! A thriller set within the architecture of the mind about …

Watch This: First Teaser Trailer for Fox's Marmaduke Movie

This is one of those short teaser trailers that's designed to do nothing more than introduce you to the main character and that's it. We get to see about 10 seconds of actual footage and while the dog looks good, Owen Wilson's voice doesn't sound that great. Fox has debuted the teaser trailer (via Yahoo) for Marmaduke starring an actual, live Great Dane this time (instead of a CGI one). If you saw Marley & Me, this is almost like deja vu, at least until you realize that Owen Wilson is actually voicing Marmaduke and not just helping the pup grow into a dog. Despite all the names attached to this, I'm still interested in it. What about you? One Final Faceless Poster Hits for Breck Eisner's The Crazies

Fear thy neighbor. I'm not sure why I'm so fascinated by the posters for this damn horror movie, but I just can't stop featuring them. Thankfully the is the last official poster for The Crazies that Overture is putting out and it has no faces or actors on it at all, only a pitchfork being dragged across the ground. You can probably tell that's also blood on the floor, but they had to make it look black on the poster so they wouldn't get in trouble. Creepy. There are a few other posters that just came out today as well, like this final Shutter Island one or this Lake Mungo one, but this Crazies poster is the best of the new batch. Check it out below! The story revolves around the inhabitants of a small Iowa town who are suddenly beset by death and insanity after a plane crash lets …

What's in Store for the '10s? The '90s, Bloat, & a Renaissance

21 December 2009 6:20 AM, PST

The aughts are coming to a close. And what better time than now to look forward, over the crest of 2010, into the next decade? What will the '10s bring to the silver screen? What legacy have the past ten years left for them to follow -- or veer away from? This, of course, is the way of the soothsayer, reading fortunes via palms and tea leaves, but from where I'm sitting, a tempest is brewing. A tempest that's poised to make landfall during the decade to come. The last ten years in film, more specifically the latter aughts, have been defined by the continuous, endless production of sequels, remakes, and adaptations. Originality has proved scarce. SlashFilm just posted two articles last month dealing with just that exact issue. After crunching some statistics, Peter found that only two of the thirty top grossing films of the last decade were original properties. …

Hugh Jackman is Starring in Antoine Fuqua's Prisoners Movie?

21 December 2009 6:15 AM, PST

Late last week, the Valley Independent Sentinel in Connecticut reported on casting for Antoine Fuqua's Prisoners project which is supposed to start shooting in Derby and Shelton, Connect. next February. The paper talks about casting 750 extras for the film and shooting in the city. They also mention that "local officials said they’ve been told Hugh Jackman is attached to the movie." Originally we had heard rumors about Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale being attached, but when Fuqua took over, I thought he dumped that old cast. Could Jackman be the first big actor cast in Fuqua's version? I'd be very happy if this is true. Prisoners, written by newcomer Aaron Guzikowski, is a dark tale about a man who, after his daughter and her friend are kidnapped and the cops fail to solve the crime, takes matters into his own hands, holding hostage the person he suspects committed the crime. …

Robert Rodriguez's Updates on Sin City 2 & Machete Trilogy

20 December 2009 11:57 PM, PST

Last week, a small handful of websites were invited to the set of Robert Rodriguez's Predators down in Austin, TX (we sadly weren't included). While there, they talked with Robert Rodriguez about all of the projects he currently has in the works, from Spy Kids to Sin City 2 to Machete. He doesn't really say much, but does give some informative and possibly even amusing updates on Sin City 2 and Machete though, so I'm focusing on those. You can find a complete rundown of everything on Collider or RopeofSilicon if you're curious about Spy Kids or any other upcoming projects. And with that, let's see what Rodriguez had to say. Before we get to Machete, let's start with Sin City. Rodriguez was asked if he's still planning on making the sequel one day and his answer was the same as before: "Yeah we still talk about doing that …

Screenwriter Peter Morgan Says Bond 23 Has a 'Shocking Story'

20 December 2009 11:09 PM, PST

The last time we heard anything about Bond 23 was back in June, when Eon Productions announced that Peter Morgan (The Last King of Scotland, The Queen, Frost/Nixon) would be writing the screenplay along with Bond franchise regulars Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. Bond website MI6.co.uk (via SlashFilm) has an update from Morgan saying that the screenwriter moved to Vienna, Austria earlier this year to work on the screenplay. All that he would tell them about it is that "it's a shocking story." He also added that "Bond creates a hysteria around it" that he hasn't seen before in which everyone is always asking about Bond 23. As a diehard James Bond fan, I've been trying to think about some possibilities for a "shocking story." Though I have a good feeling that they might be killing off M. Judi Dench has said she's returning, but let's not …

A Few Earthlings Beamed Up for the Marvin the Martian Movie

20 December 2009 11:09 PM, PST

It's been almost exactly a year and a half since Warner Bros announced they would be bringing the classic Looney Tunes alien Marvin the Martian to the big screen in his very own feature film. Since then, we've heard absolutely nothing regarding its development. But now La Times Hero Complex is reporting that WB has found writers in Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgrove (who are writing the upcoming CHiPS movie), as well as a director in Alex Zamm (who is also helming the upcoming Hong Kong Phooey movie). Not only that, but apparently Mike Myers is one of the top choices to provide voicework for the nasal challenged Martian. One thing that hasn't changed since the film's announcement in 2008 is the film's plot which will apparently find Marvin coming to Earth to try to destroy Christmas, but his plans are foiled when he gets trapped inside a gift box. Really? …

Cloudy's Phil Lord and Chris Miller Directing 21 Jump Street

20 December 2009 4:43 PM, PST

Last week, Sony's Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs was nomination in the Best Animated Film category of the Golden Globes, the first of many nominations it's likely to get this year. Heat Vision is now reporting that the directors of the animated film, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, are "in negotiations" to direct the big screen version of 21 Jump Street that was written by Jonah Hill and Michael Bacall. We interviewed Lord and Miller back in September as well, they're very cool guys. The original TV show aired in the 1980s and starred Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise as "young looking" cops who worked undercover in high schools. We've already heard plenty about the project, including that it'll be R-rated and "insane," but just not who would be directing. Other directors like Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen, Twilight) and Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) have also been approached by Sony, but it looks …
