Are we edging closer to a Blair Witch 3? Possibly. In an interview with The Star, original Blair Witch co-writer and co-director Eduardo Sanchez revealed that he has prepped a pitch for a third entry with Daniel Myrick. The next step is to bring it to rights holders Lionsgate. And as he says, they could squash the idea. However, if they accept the story it would ask for the original's stars to return, albeit for smaller roles. And, as previously reported, their story would ignore the second film. Does the world need a third Blair Witch? What do you think? »

An apropos announcement comes via The Hollywood Reporter on the eve of Halloween... Paramount has picked up the original screenplay Jitters by Marc Haimes. A former Dreamworks exec, Haimes also penned Elevator Men which was sold to Summit Entertainment earlier this year with the intention of Fredrik Bond to direct. Haimes will also produce Jitters which is described as "a creepy family film in the early-'80s Amblin mold (think Gremlins )." Capturing that Amblin feel is definitely one thing filmmakers seem to be doing these days. I've heard "Amblin" dropped into pitches for many upcoming projects including Joe Dante's The Hole . »

Download the Nightmare Jump Rope Theme Ringtone
30 October 2009
Nearly every horror nut we know has John Carpenter's Halloween theme as their cell phone ring tone. It makes for a confusing mix up at events when one of us gets a call. Well, New Line is now offering an alternative. For the first time, Charles Bernstein's Nightmare on Elm Street "jump rope" theme - you know, "one, two, Freddy's comin' for you..." - is being made available as a ring tone. You can purchase this catchy lil' jingle by texting the word "Nightmare" to 71777. The song is based on the nursery rhyme "One, Two, Buckle My Shoe" which was first published in London in 1805 and is still used today to teach children to count...and to warn them that Freddy's coming! The ringtone will be available through all major carriers. »
