In Hear Me Out, Primetimer staffers and contributors espouse their pet theories, spicy takes, and even the occasional galaxy-brain idea.
The Way Home is one of the most unsuspected surprises to come out of Hallmark. It's a family drama about an estranged mother and daughter coming together after not speaking for almost two decades following a family tragedy. It also is about time travel, thanks to a mysterious pond attached to the family farm. The first season focuses on Kat (Chyler Leigh) returning home with her teenage daughter Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) to try and heal in the midst of Kat's divorce. That healing also means patching things up with Kat's mother, Del (Andie MacDowell).

So far across the two seasons of The Way Home (which has already been renewed for a third), the pond that allows the Landrys—Kat (Chyler Leigh), Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow), Jacob (Spencer MacPherson), and now Colton (Jefferson Brown) so far—to travel through time has only taken them to their pasts and presents. But could it ever take someone to their future? “I don’t think anything is ruled out ever with our show,” executive producer Heather Conkie tells TV Insider. “I think the minute you get in a writers’ room and have an amazing pitch, you can run with anything. But I do think at the end of the day, whatever rules we state about the pond, whether it’s through Elliot [Evan Williams] or through what Kat says or Alice, those are the rules and we will never stray from them because we want to keep the integrity of that...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Way Home Season 2 finale “Bring Me to Life.”] Season finales are usually one surprise after another and include big moments for relationships, and with its latest, The Way Home delivers both. It certainly sets Kat (Chyler Leigh) and Elliot (Evan Williams) on a hopeful path going forward. But before getting the two to that place, Kat travels back to 1814 to say goodbye to Thomas (Kris Holden-Ried) after finding out he’s about to be killed. She blames herself, but he refuses to let her, and they kiss before she leaves—and thinks he’s killed before finding out he was saved by armor. Then, in the present, Elliot tells Kat that he time-traveled with Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) and got his five minutes with Colton (Jefferson Brown), so now he understands what she’s gone through, having to stop herself from trying to change the past. “I want you to choose me,...

The season finale picks up just after Kat realizes that Thomas Coyle (Kris Holden-Ried) was likely executed in 1814. She decides to travel back in time to say goodbye and perhaps prevent his death (even though she knows from experience that trying to change the past is futile).
Kat encounters Thomas on the beach. He tells her he’s sacrificed himself to save Jacob. He gives her some coins and then they share a passionate kiss that’s sure to satisfy Kat-Thomas shippers.

Elliot (Evan Williams), who knows in the past and present about Alice’s time traveling—and in the present about Kat’s—confirms that Alice is going to see something. Kat is so sure that her daughter will hate her as a result, though Elliot insists they’ll be just fine. “Ooh, that’s a big bomb,” Leigh told TV Insider of that secret when she, Laflamme-Snow, and Williams stopped by our office. Fans of The Way Home may wish they could jump forward a week in time this Sunday. The Hallmark Channel time-travel drama normally airs new episodes on Sunday nights. But the show is taking a break on Feb. 11.

The Way Home is switching up its schedule on Super Bowl Sunday. Millions of people will be glued to their TVs to watch as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers (and perhaps get a glimpse of Taylor Swift cheering on her boyfriend Travis Kelce). So, perhaps it’s not a huge surprise that Hallmark has opted to give the show a week off.

But it turns out the pond still has plenty of secrets, as we’re beginning to discover in season 2 of the Hallmark Channel series. “I’m going to win,” Chyler Leigh declared when she and her The Way Home costars Sadie Laflamme-Snow and Evan Williams played a game of Knock Your Blocks Off at TV Insider’s office ahead of the Hallmark Channel drama’s return for its second season on January 21. It’s a fun way to not only watch the actors try their hardest to remove blocks from a tower and stack them on top of one another — without them falling — but also get to know them. For instance, who’s like their character? All are, though not Season 1 Alice, Laflamme-Snow agrees. “I was pretty bratty,” she says. “I try to keep that to a minimum in real life.” Like Kat, Leigh’s also a mom and “stubborn and strong-willed and … awesome.” Though Williams doesn’t think he’s like Elliot, Leigh argues he’s “a carbon copy.” All three get creative...

The Way Home Season 2 is coming to Hallmark Channel. New episodes of the time travel family drama begin airing on Jan. 21 and will hopefully deliver answers to our biggest questions about what happened to Jacob and what’s next for the Landry women. Need a refresher on where things stood with Kat, Alice, and Del at the end of last season? Here’s what you need to remember before watching The Way Home Season 2.
What is ‘The Way Home’ about?
The Way Home Season 1 introduced viewers to the Landry family. Kat Landry (Chyler Leigh), who has recently lost her job as a reporter and separated from her husband, moves from Minneapolis to her hometown of Port Haven, with her teenage daughter Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) in tow. Kat has an uneasy reunion with her mom, Del (Andie MacDowell), from whom she’s been estranged for years. Their relationship fractured decades earlier,...

Hallmark Channel has found its way home, again. Time-travel family drama The Way Home returns for its sophomore season in January 2024. The new episodes will pick up immediately after season 1’s cliffhanger finale, which ended with Kat having a critical realization about what may have happened to her missing younger brother, Jacob.
In The Way Home Season 2, Kat reveals to her mother, Del, her theory about what happened to Jacob. As Kat continues her quest to find Jacob, the Landry women learn more about their family’s origins, which answers some questions while also raising new ones.

What’s worse — not knowing and just fearing what happened, or the truth confirming your nightmare? That’s the question for Del (Andie MacDowell) when The Way Home Season 2 begins. When the Hallmark Channel drama returns on January 21, it picks up right where it left off, with Kat (Chyler Leigh) telling her mom that she knows what happened to Jacob (Remy Smith), her brother who went missing when he was eight years old. But now, Kat has a better understanding of what might have happened all those years ago, because she and her daughter Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) have discovered the pond on their property allows them to travel in time. But how will Del react to what Kat has to say next? TV Insider spoke with MacDowell about that and more. I kept watching Del throughout Season 1 for signs she might know what’s going on or suspect or recognize Alice.
