Eddie Diaz, get behind me! I'm going to get you off this carousel!
We need to have an earnest conversation about Eddie Diaz in 9-1-1 Season 7, and we Will have that conversation. But first, we have much to discuss.
And A Lot was happening during 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 7.
Fresh off the Madney wedding, Maddie and Chimney would find themselves smack in the middle of a call gone seriously wrong that awakened many feelings in Maddie.
The frightened mother's call hit too close for Maddie. The woman was calling from the passenger seat of a vehicle that we, the audience, and Maddie assumed was being driven by her husband, and she was clearly in a lot of distress.
The presence of a baby in the backseat only upped the anxiety and the need for a quick response to what was quickly devolving into a dangerous situation.

While procedurals like Blue Bloods or S.W.A.T. have been one of the top highlights of the week on CBS for years, and NBC has had all sorts of projects within the One Chicago and Law & Order franchises, the procedural drama 9-1-1 was one of the most-watched shows on Fox from 2018 to 2023.
The show then moved to ABC (which is also owned by Disney) starting in March 2024, and for nearly two months now, 9-1-1 has been posting very impressive ratings in its new home, which secured the show's renewal for a new eighth season in early April.
The fact that the show is generating so much traction is not just because its creators are television colossi Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear. It's a fascinating drama that has viewers rooting for Los Angeles first responders as they navigate their personal and professional lives no less than the other aforementioned shows.

Chimney’s disappearance earlier in the day laid a thrilling yet terrifying context for this unconventional nuptial. Originally framed as a lighthearted play reminiscent

Anticipation has been building among 9-1-1 fans for the wedding of Maddie and Chimney, an event that symbolizes more than just vows; it is a testament to their resilience. Embodying true companionship, their journey is not absent of turmoil — involving dramatic rescues and personal battles — but these trials have only fortified their bond. Unconventional Yet Beautiful Maddie and Chimney’s Union The recent episode brought this unforgettable milestone to life, set in the least likely of locales — the hospital. While unconventional, the setting perfectly encapsulates the essence of their relationship: real-life support, in sickness and in health. “I

Note: This story contains spoilers from “9-1-1” Season 7, Episode 6.
There was more than one happy couple celebrating a milestone at the end of the May 2 episode of “9-1-1”: After going missing on his wedding day to Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt), Chimney (Kenneth Choi) was found alive and he and Maddie’s wedding finally happened in his hospital room, as he recovered from viral encephalitis. But Buck (Oliver Stark) was also beaming as new boyfriend Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) joined the joyful celebration.
The reactions of the characters — who didn’t know Buck was bi, let alone dating a fellow firefighter — ranged from confusion from Buck and Maddie’s parents, to Hen (Aisha Hinds) saying, “It’s about damn time.”
Hewitt told TheWrap that the “Wait, what?” response from Dee Wallace, who plays Buck and Maddie’s mother, was genuine, as she missed the episodes where Buck and Tommy admitted their attraction to each other.

Now that Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Chimney (Kenneth Choi) have survived their wedding—it was a close call for the groom!—are they getting a break on 9-1-1? It may be surprising, but yes! After their latest trauma, “they’re going to have some wedded bliss, I think, for the rest of the season,” Choi tells TV Insider. “They’ve had enough that was traumatic for this season. We’ll wait until Season 8 until they throw some more curveballs.” Hewitt notes that finales usually wrap up unfinished business for characters, but “we don’t have anything. For the first time, we’re just peaceful and things are good. I was like, ‘What are we going to do in the finale? We have nothing.’ And I think that that’s kind of great. For the first time, we’re just sort of solid and the emergencies are going to happen around us,...

Insights from Kenneth Choi and a Chaotic Wedding Spectacle As 9-1-1 returns with its much-anticipated wedding episode, ‘There Goes the Groom’, the stakes are as high as ever. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 6 “There Goes the Groom.”] Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Chimney’s (Kenneth Choi) first date was postponed when her abusive ex-husband, Doug (Brian Hallisay), stabbed him and kidnapped her. There was no way that 9-1-1 was going to have them get married without something going wrong. But that resulted in an episode filled with what makes the show so good seven seasons in: the right mix of heart and trauma. But in this case, the groom simply goes missing because he can’t remember he’s supposed to be at his own wedding, thinking it’s 20 years ago because of viral encephalitis after an encounter with a patient on a call. It’s all hands on deck to try to find him, while he’s wandering around Los Angeles, hallucinating Doug taunting him and then Kevin (James Chen) guiding him home—to the Lees (Freda Foh Shen and ...

Silly me for thinking this would be a lighthearted affair.
After a little midseason hiatus, 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 6 brought us back to Maddie and Chimney's big day, which saw Maddie looking majestic and ready to walk down the aisle while Chimney was nowhere to be found.
What followed was the search for Chimney, which veered left in a way I didn't see coming.
I'll be honest here. Based on the promotions and the trailer's comedic aspects, I went into this hour thinking it would be enjoyable.
The trailer felt like we were in for an homage to The Hangover, and based on them already doing a play on The Poseidon Adventure to begin 9-1-1 Season 7, it wasn't unbelievable to think they could tap into another popular film for another storyline.
But nothing about this hour was funny, sans for the beginning, which fizzled out almost as quickly as it began.

The Madney wedding day was far from the day Chimney and Maddie envisioned when they decided to say, "I do."
After the big tease at the end of 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 5, Buck and Eddie showed up to the Madney nuptials, looking like they'd had one wild night, and Chimney was nowhere to be found.
9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 6 picked up from that crazy reveal, and the hour subsequently filled in the missing pieces from that night before and answered the question so many had on their minds: where's Chimney?
Kenneth Choi has been with the series from the beginning, lending tremendous warmth to the ever-charismatic firefighter/paramedic, and Chimney has come a long way from the man we met in 9-1-1 Season 1, who was in a failing relationship and would almost lose his life.
Since then, he's met the love of his life, had a child, gotten engaged, and...

A couple of months ago, 9-1-1 co-creator and showrunner Tim Minear reached out to actor Lou Ferrigno Jr. — who had guest-starred in three flashback episodes of the second season — about reprising his role as firefighter Tommy Kinard in the seventh season of the hit Fox-turned-abc first-responder drama.
Ferrigno Jr., who says he had nothing but fond memories of working with the writer and producer years ago, was instantly intrigued to learn that Minear was in the early stages of writing a multi-episode arc that would allow viewers to check back in with Tommy in the present. That storyline, as it turns out, would involve Evan “Buck” Buckley (Oliver Stark), the ostensibly straight character who would navigate his newfound attraction to Tommy in the landmark 100th episode, which aired last Thursday.

Considering Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Chimney’s (Kenneth Choi) relationship has included a stabbing and kidnapping by her abusive ex-husband (Brian Hallisay), there’s no way their wedding can happen with something going wrong in 9-1-1 Season 7. “Maddie and Chimney had already stated that they wanted to do something simple at home. It just doesn’t work out that way,” showrunner Tim Minear tells TV Insider with a laugh. “I’m very excited about the Maddie-Chimney wedding episode because for me, it’s kind of a fractal of both of their journeys, but particularly Chimney’s journey from when he was trying to get rich quick with all his little schemes until he found his purpose in life and finally finding her.” He continues, “If you think about the stories that we’ve done with Chimney and Maddie over the seasons, there are always outside forces that...

But now the question has to be asked. Buck spends the 100th episode “bothered and bewildered,” to borrow its title, upon realizing Eddie’s spending all this free time with Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.), the former 118er they just worked with to rescue Bobby (Peter Krause) and Athena (Angela Bassett). And while that crossover with 9-1-1: Lone Star was inevitable, with the two series existing in the same universe, this upcoming crossover is more unexpected but looks like a ton of fun.
When 9-1-1 made the move to ABC, many wondered if the 118 would show up on one of the hit series currently airing on the network.
Maybe the 118 would end up working the scene of an accident that saw some members from The Rookie stopping by.
Or perhaps Athena would be working a case and needed unique medical advice that somehow had her in contact with someone at Grey Sloan Memorial.
Better yet,...

Athena Grant-Nash (Angela Bassett) has been through a lot throughout the first six seasons of 9-1-1.
Seriously, it’s like the writers are purposefully dragging the character through the wringer for the sake of entertainment.
A new teaser for 9-1-1 Season 7 recently went live, and we can confidently say it won’t change anytime soon.
The footage picks up with Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) answering the phone at work and learning about the emergencies everyone is going through.
Things take a dramatic turn when we see her telling Chimney (Kenneth Choi) that the cruise ship Athena and Bobby (Peter Krause) are on has gone missing.
As he is left reeling from the news, the action shifts to the ship, which we see in the ocean before disaster strikes.
Disaster strikes for Athena and Bobby on a cruise ship
An explosion kicks off, leaving Bobby in a desperate quest to find his wife.

Well, let’s just say we’re glad that two people know how to take command of a situation when a cruise ship runs into trouble in the 9-1-1 Season 7 premiere — and those two are Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby (Peter Krause). We get a taste of just that in TV Insider’s exclusive first look at a new promo for the first responder series’ upcoming seventh season, premiering March 14 on ABC after moving from Fox. It offers not only a look at some of the emergencies to come for the 118 in Los Angeles — including a crashed jet — but also the others learning that something’s going on with Athena and Bobby’s trip. Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) tells Chimney (Kenneth Choi), “Bobby and Athena’s cruise ship might be missing.” Then we see Bobby asking, “my wife, where is she?” Watch the full video above for the answer...

“Life is a whirlwind. When there’s disaster to deal with, who are we?” Athena’s (Angela Bassett) voiceover asks over the 9-1-1 Season 7 teaser. This new video does a great job of introducing these heroes—it’s aptly set to that song by David Bowie—to people who might be seeing them for the first time; the drama has moved over to ABC after six seasons at Fox. Season 7 will premiere on Thursday, March 14 at 8/7c, leading into Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 (returning for its final season). The teaser, which you can watch above, shows what we’ve seen in previous ones: an explosion on a cruise ship, which has to be the one Bobby (Peter Krause) and Athena got on at the end of Season 6, and it beginning to sink. But now we get a look at the 118, with at least Hen (Aisha Hinds) in the Los Angeles Fire Department chopper,...

If you haven’t heard yet (and seriously…how?), 9-1-1 has moved on over to ABC, and the new season is just around the corner.
9-1-1 Season 7 is poised to set sail on March 14, 2024. And we mean that quite literally, as the early promotion is teasing a ship disaster of epic proportions.
While little is known about the new season outside of a potentially deadly cruise ship emergency, we started to think about what these new episodes could bring for our favorite first responders. And we've got a lot of thoughts about what could be on the horizon!
9-1-1 is known for the dramatics and the heartfelt, and we would expect nothing less from this new season, even with the move to a new network.
We already know where the drama may start (hint: big ship going down), but there's a lot of season beyond the first big boom.

Listen, it’s a day we don’t ever want to imagine getting here on 9-1-1, but unfortunately, Bobby Nash can’t be captain of the 118 forever. The good news is that we can easily see any of the members of the 118 stepping into the role, but, as we await news of Season 7 on ABC (after the move from Fox), who should? Chimney (Kenneth Choi) was the first to serve as interim captain, back in Season 2 when Bobby was suspended, and while he did say “never again” when the other man took time off for what would’ve been his and Athena’s honeymoon last year, that’s no longer true. After spending time at the academy (...

The latest season of 9-1-1 has come and gone, and to say it was a ride would be an understatement.
After a thrilling start, the season lost its footing, with a handful of hours toward the end that didn't quite feel as satisfying as those earlier installments. 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 18 especially had us spinning our wheels, with an ending that felt rushed and awkward at times.
But there was still a lot to love about the season overall and a lot to look forward to as the series found new life in the eleventh hour, and we will return for another season on a new network.
TV Fanatics and 9-1-1 enthusiasts Whitney Evans and Jasmine Blu chatted about the season, what worked and what didn't, and what they need to see when the series returns.

What is a living funeral, you ask?
Well, the 118 is about to find out when they’re called to one after a man crashes his car directly into one on 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 15. It leaves many people in distress, including a poor woman, whom the team has to work quickly to free from underneath the vehicle.
As you’ll see in this clip exclusive to TV Fanatic, there is a lot of chaos in the aftermath of the crash, and it’s all hands on deck to secure the scene.
In an episode entitled “Death and Taxes,” it’s unsurprising to see an emergency involving a funeral, but a literal car crashing into one wasn’t what we expected.
But as usual, the 118 works like a well-oiled machine to get things under control efficiently and quickly.

Ah, it's time for that wonderful time of year at the 118 when the firefighters have to sit across from Bobby and get the rundown of everything they're doing well on the job and what they could be doing better.
Performance reviews are stressful, even when you know you're killing it at work.
Or they're stressful for some people, but not Chimney. He's not worried about what Bobby has to tell him during 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 14, and that's why it's such a shock to him when he's shoveled off to the academy to brush up on his leadership skills.
We all remember Captain Han, don't we? Those were rough times.
Chimney has never aspired to ascend to the big chair, which is not a problem. But even if you don't want to be the "leader,' you should still work on the skill set it takes to be in that position.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 14 “Performance Anxiety.”] Annual performance reviews lead Bobby (Peter Krause) to send Chimney (Kenneth Choi) back to the academy because he’s not “outstanding” when it comes to leadership… and it, of course, turns out to be just what the first responder needs on 9-1-1. Of course Bobby had a lesson for Chimney to learn — and a member of the 118 to bring back. “The moment that I read Bobby’s sending Chimney to the Academy, I had the same reaction that Chimney has: ‘What the f**k?'” Choi laughed. “‘Is Chimney being demoted?’ But the show is called 9-1-1 and it’s about people’s emergencies. They wrote this wonderfully because Bobby is such a sort of omniscient presence, and that’s what makes him a brilliant captain that he sees [the] one thing that’...

When the 118 race to a commercial bakery on 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 14, a woman caught inside an industrial mixer is quite the surprise.

And so when Bobby says they’re almost done, Chimney thinks they’ve moved on to the next part of their meeting: where he reviews him. “Cap, I knew from the day you arrived you would be a guiding light for this house,” he begins, only for Bobby to interrupt him. “We’re not there yet. It's been a minute since we got an overstuffed hour of 9-1-1.
While some of the character's personal journeys have taken center stage recently, 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 13 was a sort of return to form, as everyone got a little time, and they sprinkled some emergencies throughout.
It wasn't all fun and games, but it was a good time and a nice change of pace from some of the heavier material.
That's not to say the more serious content isn't great because there have been many strengths during 9-1-1 Season 6, which overall has been very enjoyable, with solid arcs that reminded me of some of the earlier 9-1-1 seasons.
"Mixed Feelings" was a return to form as it leaned into absurdity at times and gave us all the feel-good and funny moments we've come to love.
That's not to say it's perfect, but we'll get into everything.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 13, “Mixed Feelings.”] The latest 9-1-1 had so many moments that we loved: Chimney (Kenneth Choi) talking to Denny (Declan Pratt); Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) playing poker with some familiar faces to test out the former’s new cognitive abilities; Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Chimney having Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby (Peter Krause) over for a dinner that should become a weekly event. But most importantly, Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Karen (Tracie Thoms) found out their son has been spending time with his birth father Nathaniel (Troy Winbush) in the worst way possible. Denny nearly slips up about Nathaniel in the aforementioned conversation with Chimney about fathers. The kid takes from that discussion that the first responder did what he needed to for himself when it came to his own dad. Chimney’s bestie probably wouldn’t be 100 percent on board with that if she ...
