Instagram is officially testing a long-touted subscription feature, arriving after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a billion-dollar bid to compensate creators.
The alpha test kicks off nationally today, enabling creators to offer benefits for a monthly fee, including exclusive Live and Story access. Creators can choose their own subscription prices.
The test is being conducted among a handful of U.S.-based creators, Instagram says, with a ‘Subscribe’ button appearing on participating profiles. Testers include social comedian Alan Chikin Chow, basketballer Sedona Prince, astrologer Aliza Kelly, actress Kelsey Lynn Cook, food and travel creator Elliott Norris, gymnasts Jordan Chiles and Jack Jerry, artist and rapper Bunny Michael, digital artist Don Allen III, and sketch artist Lonnie Iiv.
