After releasing The Colorado Kid and Joyland via the Hard Case Crime imprint, Stephen King made his grand debut into the world of hard-boiled crime fiction with Mr. Mercedes. The first in a trilogy, the 2014 novel introduced readers to Bill Hodges, a crusty, retired detective who finds his golden years interrupted by the taunts of a psychopathic killer he failed to apprehend.
A divisive book among the King faithful, Mr. Mercedes is nonetheless an important one, as it introduces Holly Gibney, a recluse-turned-investigator King would go on to feature in four subsequent novels (and one novella), including last year’s Holly.
Join The Losers’ Club’s Randall Colburn, Jenn Adams, Ashley Casseday, and Rachel Reeves as they detail the book’s origins, how it differs from the author’s previous forays into crime, and the ways in which it reflects evolving societal fears about domestic terrorism. They also discuss the...

After the adaptation of Stephen King's detective story Mr. Mercedes, which was praised by both fans and critics, another adaptation of the book from the Bill Hodges series has been released. The fact that television producers have begun to turn to the author's rather unusual works is a trend to be excited about. Both Mr. Mercedes and the 2020 series The Outsider are primarily detective stories, not horror.
King's works in this genre haven't yet become overgrown with self-repeats – that's why watching these adaptations is much more fascinating than seeing how poor people get lost in the tall grass or pets rising from the dead.
What is The Outsider About?
According to the plot of The Outsider, the body of a brutally murdered schoolboy is found in a small town. All evidence points to coach Terry Maitland, a seemingly respectable man who bears little resemblance to a brutal killer.

Following its initial release on AT&T Audience Network back in 2019, the entire third season of Mr. Mercedes (based on Stephen King's Bill Hodges trilogy) is coming to Peacock on March 4th, joining the first two seasons on the streaming service:
Press Release: Based on the best-selling Bill Hodges trilogy by Stephen King, Mr. Mercedes returns for its much-anticipated third season. When beloved local author John Rothstein is found murdered, Hodges, Holly, and Jerome, along with local police, must track down his killer. But this case is more complex than the cold-blooded killing of an American icon. Unpublished novels of Rothstein’s were stolen from his home, and they are worth millions. Mr. Mercedes has found a new home in NBCUniversal’s recently launched premium streaming platform, Peacock.
The move to Peacock yields a new lease on life for Mr. Mercedes, the Stephen King adaptation crime series, which started life in 2017 as a broadcast offering on the AT&T-owned, DirecTV-exclusive Audience Network, only to be left derelict with an uncertain future after the channel’s dissolution this past January. With the move—announced on Sept. 21, King’s birthday, of all days—Mr. Mercedes Seasons 1 and 2 will be bingeable on Peacock starting on October 15. That premiere will eventually be followed by the show’s most recent outing, 2019’s Season 3, which will arrive on a date to be announced.
The series, which operates under a prolific creator/showrunner in David E. Kelley, adapts King’s novel trilogy—2014’s Mr. Mercedes, 2015’s Finders Keepers and 2016’s End of Watch—into a serialized format. The...

Updated: The first three seasons of “Mr. Mercedes” have been acquired by Peacock.
The show previously aired on Audience Network but that network was shut down by AT&T in January, leaving the show’s remaining scripted shows in limbo. “Mr. Mercedes” aired its third season late last year, with the series having received strong critical acclaim throughout its run.
As part of the deal, Seasons 1 and 2 of “Mr. Mercedes” will stream exclusively on Peacock. Both of those seasons will debut on Oct. 15 on the streamer, while the premiere date for Season 3 is yet to be determined.
Based on the New York Times Best-Selling Bill Hodges trilogy by Stephen King, “Mr. Mercedes” follows a retired detective (Brendan Gleeson) who is tormented by a serial killer (Harry Treadaway) through a series of letters and e-mails, causing him to set out on a dangerous and potentially felonious crusade to protect his loved ones and himself.

“Mr. Mercedes” moved to Peacock Monday, where its first two seasons will stream following the shutdown of the show’s original home at AT&T Audience Network.
Coming to Peacock on Oct. 15, the series is based on the best-selling Bill Hodges trilogy by Stephen King, and “follows a retired detective who is tormented by a serial killer through a series of letters and e-mails, causing him to set out on a dangerous and potentially felonious crusade to protect his loved ones and himself.”
The series aired its third season last fall but has not been renewed since Audience Network officially bit the dust and rolled into a promo channel for HBO Max earlier this year. Reps for Peacock confirmed there are plans to air Season 3 at a later date, but did not disclose whether the series will be renewed for a fourth season.

The forthcoming third season of Mr. Mercedes is flipping the script in a way. While Season 2 was sourced from the End of Watch, the third book in the Stephen King crime novel series, season 3 will center on events of the third book, Finders Keepers.
At TCA, director and executive producer Jack Bender explained the reason behind the flip.
“At the end on season 1, because the focus on the show as this love-hate affair between Brady Hartsfield and Bill Hodges and because of the condition that we left our hero-villain, played by Harry Treadaway — in almost comatose after his head was bashed in– we had to figure out a way to have him on the show in an active way,” said Bender. “We came up with a version that wasn’t going to be Finders Keepers. I’m happy to report that the series adaptation of Stephen King’s Mr. Mercedes has been renewed for a third season by At&T Audience Network.
This is such a great show, and the first two season are so well done. If you haven’t watched this show yet, you should check it out! It’s pretty dark and disturbing, though, so if you aren’t into crazy twisted shit, you might want to pass.
The series starts out brutally and if you can’t get past the very first episode, then this series isn’t for you. Daniel York, senior executive vice president and chief content officer for At&T, had this to say in a statement:
“’Mr. Mercedes’ has resonated with such a wide audience, so we’re thrilled to bring it back for a third season for our customers. David E. Kelley, Jack Bender and Sonar have...

Mr. Mercedes stopped by San Diego Comic Con to talk about what audiences can expect in Season 2. The series is based on the three novels in the Bill Hodges trilogy, Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, and End of Watch by Stephen King. The At&T Original series airs on the At&T Audience Network.
The show premiered on August 9th, 2017 and was developed by David E. Kelly and stars Brendan Gleeson and Harry Treadaway. In October of last year At&T Audience Network renewed the series for a second season for a ten- episode run.
Mr. Mercedes centers around retired detective Bill Hodges who is still haunted by the unsolved case of “Mr. Mercedes,” who killed sixteen people when he drove a stolen Mercedes through a line of job-seekers at a local job fair. Meanwhile, brilliant young psychopath Brady Hartsfield, the real Mr. Mercedes, reemerges to focus his attention on Hodges. What...

Much like the title indicated, I've missed Bill Hodges.
Unfortunately, Mr. Mercedes Season 2 Episode 1 didn't do much to arouse much excitement at his return.
In propelling the written word forward and skipping one of the books in Stephen King's trilogy, they maintained the core duo of Brendan Gleeson and Harry Treadaway at the cost of smooth storytelling.
Before the end of Mr. Mercedes Season 1, Bill was already out of the hospital, but "Missed You" picked up with the adversaries being rushed to the same hospital to introduce new characters Felix and Cora Babineau (Jack Huston and Tessa Ferrer) who have become an important part of the narrative.
Dr. Felix Babineau is the neurosurgeon who put Humpty Brady back together again in a particularly gruesome reconstruction scene.
The husband and wife duo aren't to be meddled with as Cora sees in Brady the opportunity for fame and fortune in the pharmaceutical industry.

The malicious mind games of Brady Hartsfield (Harry Treadaway) will return in the second season of Mr. Mercedes, along with perhaps the only man capable of stopping him, Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson). Based on the "Bill Hodges" trilogy by Stephen King, Mr. Mercedes Season 2 premieres on the At&T Audience Network on Wednesday, August 22nd, and we have a look at a new behind-the-scenes video that explores the deadly dynamic between Hartsfield and Hodges:
"The series picks up a year after Brady Hartsfield’s thwarted attempt to perpetrate a second mass murder in the community of Bridgton, Ohio. Since the incident, Hartsfield has been hospitalized in a vegetative state. Retired Detective Bill Hodges has done his best to move on from his Brady obsession, teaming up with Holly Gibney to open Finders Keepers, a private investigative agency. But when unexplainable occurrences begin to affect hospital staff members attending to Brady, Hodges...

At&T's Audience Network has released a full trailer for the second season of Stephen King's insanely psychotic series Mr. Mercedes. If you could make it through the madness of Season 1, you'll definitely want to see what's in store for Season 2. I know a good amount of people that couldn't even make it through the first episode of the first season because it was so disturbing.
The story follows a demented killer named Brady Hartsfield (Harry Treadaway) "who taunts a retired police detective Bill Hodges (Brendon Gleeson) with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again."
This trailer is quite haunting as Brady, who is seemingly brain dead, is very much aware of his surroundings. And somehow he is able to hypnotize people and control them...

“It’s a marvelous piece of work,” declares Emmy winner Holland Taylor of the drama series “Mr. Mercedes.” Taylor plays Ida Silver, the vibrant and nosy next door neighbor of retired detective Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson) for Audience Network. Almost all of Taylor’s scenes occur with Gleeson, whom she cites as a “masterclass of acting” in our recent webchat (watch the exclusive video interview above).
But Gleeson isn’t the only big name attached to the show. “Mr. Mercedes” reunites the actress with David E.
