Ever since The Mandalorian and The Boys star Giancarlo Esposito confirmed that he'd been cast in a mystery MCU role, speculation has run wild about who he might be playing.
The actor confirmed he'd debut in a movie before showing up in a Disney+ TV series and set photos have since revealed his big screen project as Captain America: Brave New World. Esposito was enlisted for reshoots and a first look at his unnamed character showed him in tactical gear wielding several knives and what appears to be an axe.
Typically, a set photo like that would make it clear who an actor is playing; as things stand, we're no closer to knowing for sure who the Breaking Bad alum has been cast as. Or are we?
A new rumour is floating around online (we think it's more of a theory than anything) which suggests Esposito is playing Moon Knight villain Bushman.

As far as the Marvel Cinematic Universe goes, "Moon Knight" occupies a strange place. Starring Oscar Isaac in the lead role, it involves a superhero with a personality disorder, with the whole show steeped in Egyptian lore. It's unique in and amongst the vast sea of other superhero stuff out there. That was made clear even from the show's opening moments, which see Ethan Hawke's villain Arthur Harrow pouring broken glass in his shoes before walking around in them somewhat casually. It was a twisted moment, particularly for the historically PG-13 MCU. It turns out this moment came from the mind of Hawke himself.
In a 2022 interview with Yahoo, the actor, known for his work in movies like "Training Day" and "Sinister," was asked about the moment in question. Hawke explained that it all stemmed from him trying to figure out the character. In the end, he ended up...

Alongside the sharp direction from Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, Moon Knight stands out as one of the stronger MCU Disney+ shows. Depicting versatile actor Oscar Isaac in a fascinating dual-personality role juggling between two worlds of Marc Spector and Steven Grant, this series pulled the viewer’s heartstrings in six episodes. However, this compelling adventure has not been continued despite its massive success and eight Emmy nominations.

But fans who have grown attached to the Khonshu avatar are not willing to let go just yet. They are fervently calling for the renewal of the show, especially after witnessing Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye getting renewed for another season. It seems Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios may need to reconsider his decision regarding the show after seeing this.

Despite its widespread acclaim, certain elements, including the action sequences and the level of violence, left some fans divided. In a revealing insight, the writer of the show Beau DeMayo shared the inspiration behind the intensity of violence in the show, revealing a surprising parallel to Chris Evans’ Captain America films.
Captain America Movies Significantly Influenced Moon Knight’s Violence
While Marvel has recently embraced a more mature approach to its projects, has steered clear of incorporating R-rated content into its franchise. It has left some fans disappointed, especially when it comes to certain characters not fully embodying the intense nature depicted in the comics.

Although Moon Knight had its detractors, the story of mercenary Marc Spector and his other personalities captured enough of an audience that many Marvel fans are calling for second season. Thus far, no second season has been announced, and recent comments from Disney CEO Bob Iger about focusing on its “strongest franchises” only throw the possibility into further doubt.
But there is one guy who hasn’t lost faith: Oscar Isaac. An Instagram post from Geek House Show features Isaac talking at a panel during Middle East Film and Comic Con. When asked about the future of Moon Knight in the MCU, Isaac described his hopes for the character, revealing not only that he’s game to play the character again but also dropping a surprising season 2 idea in the process. “I thought there was an interesting opportunity with Midnight Sons,” he answers, referring to a long-running Marvel Comics team that usually fights supernatural threats.

Lockley was the third personality of Oscar Isaac's leading character. The other two were Marc Spector and Steven Grant, whom audiences spent the entire show getting to know.
Throughout the series, a third personality for Moon Knight (Jake Lockley) was heavily teased. His existence was not confirmed until the season finale’s post-credits scene, which provided fans with their first proper look at Jake.

The Disney+ show arrived as the McU's first 2022 show and the debut of Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector/Steven Grant.
It quickly became regarded as one of Marvel Studios' best series yet, so much so that two of its directors, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, were handed the reins to Loki Season 2.

Superheroes love their pets. Shortly after Superman debuted the genre in 1938, he and his other tights and capes friends gained their own pet sidekicks, including Beppo the Super-Monkey, Ace the Bat-hound, and Comet the Super-Horse. Although Marvel’s hipper approach in the early 60s precluded pet sidekicks as much as it did teen sidekicks, super-powered animals soon made their way onto Earth 616, including the Inhumans’ transporter Lockjaw, and Brightwind, the Asgardian pegasus of New Mutant Mirage.
While some of these creatures have made their way into live-action, the MCU has been a bit slower to debut super-powered animals, at least as pet sidekicks. As Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 shows, animals with powers deserve their own character arcs, even if it’s as small as Cosmo getting mad at being called a bad dog. These animals aren’t really pets as much as they are members of the team!

Marvel Studios has brought to audiences some fantastic series over the last year. One of the absolute standouts was Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight, which enthralled its fans with action-packed, mind-bending, globetrotting drama. The series, available on Disney+ Hotstar in India, took viewers on a journey of mystery, secrets and chaos, pushing the boundaries of the MCU storytelling with its darker, mature themes. As the title completes its first anniversary on March 30th, take a look at these five aspects of the edgy Marvel Studios series that will be sure to compel you to watch the series and join in on the fun!

Since 1992, the TV academy has honored the work of voice actors almost annually, beginning with half a dozen cast members from “The Simpsons.” From 2014 onward, the Best Voice-Over Performance award has been bestowed separately from the Best Narrator one, with the inaugural recipient of the former prize having been Harry Shearer of “The Simpsons.” This year’s lineup features seven nominees, including one former winner and two posthumous contenders.
Maya Rudolph, who took this award in 2020 and 2021 for “Big Mouth,” is now seeking her third win for the same show. She is involved in her second consecutive rematches with Julie Andrews (“Bridgerton”), Stanley Tucci (“Central Park”) and Jessica Walter (“Archer”), the last of whom is on her second post-death bid in a row. The remaining three slots are filled by category newcomers F. Murray Abraham (“Moon Knight”) and “What If…?” duo Chadwick Boseman (who died in August 2020) and Jeffrey Wright.

Giancarlo Esposito is well on his way to joining Ming-Na Wen as a fellow Disney Egot* (*not a real thing). The star of "Breaking Bad," "Better Call Saul," and "The Boys" (along with several famous Spike Lee joints) has already worked on a handful of Mouse House projects, on top of playing a "Star Wars" villain. That leaves the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the next big Disney property for Esposito to tackle, and he's made no secret of the fact he's got his eye on portraying a certain bald-headed mentor to the X-Men.
But more than merely gunning to succeed Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Esposito has confirmed he's spoken with Marvel Studios about other MCU roles in the past. It wasn’t until weeks later, when Nazih was called in for a meeting with the Marvel music department, that he learned they were interested in having him score the latest Disney+ miniseries, Moon Knight — and that Egyptian director Mohamed Diab, who was serving as an executive producer and directing four of the series’ six episodes, had recommended the Egyptian-born composer.

The first year of Marvel’s Disney+ experiment brought it an impressive 28 Emmy nominations. Twenty-three were for the groundbreaking, high-concept “WandaVision” — this included a bid for Best Limited Series and acting nominations for stars Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany and Kathryn Hahn — while five went to the drama series “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” Despite having twice as many shows competing in this year’s Emmy cycle — the live-action ”Loki,” “Hawkeye,” and “Moon Knight” and the animated series “What If…?” were all eligible — we knew that it would be impossible for Marvel to repeat that performance this year. And yet, the popular franchise responsible for some of the biggest pop culture moments of the last decade still managed a respectable showing during Tuesday’s Emmy Award nominations.

Even those disappointed by Moon Knight had to admit that Jake Lockley was pretty cool. But if Moon Knight does get a second season, we’re sure to see much more of Jake.

[Editor’s Note: This is the second of two parts analyzing the sci-fi craft contenders. Click here to read part one.]
It’s been a great season for large-scale, character-driven, socially relevant sci-fi dramas: Marvel/Disney+’s time-jumping “Loki” and mind-bending “Moon Knight;” Isaac Asimov’s legendary “Foundation” (Apple TV+); the sequel to Nicolas Roeg’s cult classic, “The Man Who Fell to Earth” (Showtime); the latest Star Trek” and “Star Wars” spin-offs, “Strange New Worlds” (Paramount+) and “The Book of Boba Fett” (Lucasfilm/Disney+); and the return of the blockbuster “Stranger Things” (Netflix).

“I love the character and I really did enjoy my collaboration with Marvel, so if there was a really interesting take on a story, I’m all ears,” reveals Oscar Isaac about the possibility of one day donning the iconic Moon Knight suit again. The acclaimed actor had two high profile roles this past season, as the titular anti-hero in the Marvel Studio blockbuster action adventure “Moon Knight” and as a husband and father whose marriage begins to painfully unravel in the intimate HBO prestige drama “Scenes From a Marriage.”
For Isaac, both roles presented significant challenges, because both of these very different men are tormented by profound trauma on the one hand, or by blindsiding betrayal on the other. The genre and tone of both series didn’t ultimately matter to the actor, because he needed to approach both characters with a similar sincerity and truthfulness. “I appreciate that...

Ethan Hawke shook up the Marvel TV universe this spring with his devilish turn as cult leader Arthur Harrow in "Moon Knight." The show's finale saw the unnerving villain seemingly dispatched by another alter of Marc Spector's, murderous Jake Lockley. But apparently, Hawke isn't 100 convinced his character is dead.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, the actor was mostly mum on Arthur's fate, but offered a potential teaser by saying that the character "sure doesn't seem dead to me." Back in March, Hawke also told IGN that he was open to returning if the show earned a second season, saying that...

“I’m immensely relieved,” declares Jeremy Slater about the overwhelmingly positive reaction from fans to “Moon Knight.” He and the entire Marvel Studios team took a huge gamble by presenting something unique and unpredictable, rather than throwing together the origin story of yet another brooding and mysterious caped crusader. “I’m a Marvel fan first and foremost,” he says, adding for our recent webchat, “I’ve been at probably every midnight showing for every MCU movie going back 10 years. I’m one of those guys screaming his head off in ‘Endgame’ at every single moment, so the worst thing you can ever do is take a character you love and then screw it up for everyone!” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

“It was such a huge episode with so much going on,” declares sound effects editor Tim Farrell on why he chose the “Moon Knight” season finale as the highlight of his work on the series. Farrell worked closely with supervising sound designer and editor Mac Smith on the fantasy spectacle, both of whom agreed that the explosive season finale was the best showcase for their work. One of the best moments in Marvel’s recently ended Moon Knight series is when Layla El-Faouly (May Calamawy) agrees to become the temporary human avatar for the Egyptian goddess Taweret. This happens during a critical juncture in the season finale, when Marc Spector/Steven Grant/Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac) and the god Khonshu need all the help they can get to defeat the goddess Ammit, who has been released by Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) to bring death to much of humanity.
Layla emerges in an awesome costume, with fearsome powers, and has since been dubbed by Marvel as the Scarlet Scarab. She and Taweret do indeed join the battle, and while Harrow and Ammit are finally defeated, Layla’s future as the avatar of Taweret and as a superhero remains unclear.

After watching both live-action shows, Moon Knight and Peacemaker, it’s not tough at all to say that both individuals are extraordinarily strong, dedicated fighters that are devoted and dedicated to the causes they’ve taken on as their own, and they both have had a rough time in their lives. It’s tough to say which is more traumatic, though it does feel that Marc Spector might have Peacemaker beaten on this one since not only did he accidentally get his little brother killed, but his mother actually shut down and refused to love him any longer. Because of this, Marc made

"Moon Knight" has completed its run, though there is no way (I have no confirmation for this other than my story sense) that this is the last we'll see of Marc Spector/Steven Grant/Jake Lockley. There are spoilers ahead for the show, so be warned.
There were Easter eggs in the Disney+ series, but one of them could have been about Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors in the "Loki" series. Of course, the "Loki" version was He Who Remains, but we know that Kang will likely be a big bad going forward, at least in "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania."

Gods have always been part of the MCU. Wakandans thank Bast and Sekhmet, Captain America assured Black Widow that “There’s only one God,” and the Celestials shown in Guardians of the Galaxy and Eternals create and destroy worlds. But without question, the series most concerned with deities has been Thor. Since the first film, Thor has dealt with not only the titular god of thunder, but also the All-Father Odin, the trickster god Loki, and the goddess of death Hela. The only series to rival Thor in god content has been Moon Knight and its Ennead, the collection of Egyptian gods, including Khonshu, Ammit, and Taweret.
Fans of both Moon Knight and Thor may have been surprised that the two pantheons never mentioned one another. But that wasn’t originally the plan. Moon Knight writer Jeremy Slater told The Direct that he...

The first season of Disney+’s newest Marvel series, Moon Knight, is a challenging story to follow, to say the least.
Yesterday’s final installment continues the show’s examination of trauma, justice, and supernatural interference while providing tantalizing hints at even more depths to plumb.
As with all shows that feature an unreliable narrator, Moon Knight delights in rapid shifts of perspective, disorientation, and deliberate ambiguity.
Full disclosure: I come to Moon Knight with no background on the character, the comics, or the canon. I have no skin in the game in terms of expectations or narrative fidelity, which is a rather foreign experience for me.
The short six-episode run is a well-calculated length for the initial foray into the chaotic and fragmented brain of Marc Spector. Meanwhile, introducing audiences to the mild-mannered identity of Steven Grant first is an effective, if not subtle, strategy to suck us into connecting with him emotionally,...

One of my favorite aspects of "Moon Knight" season 1 was the lack of ties to other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. It's not that I'm against crossing over MCU properties on principle, but there needs to be a deeper reason for doing it beyond fan service. In the case of "Moon Knight," the absence of other superheroes also benefits the series and the way it toys with the notion that so much of what we're seeing is taking place solely inside the mind of Marc Spector/Steven Grant. (And if you think that's a wild idea, just wait until you learn about the twist ending that was originally pitched...

Now that Moon Knight has ended its premiere season (with no word yet on whether there will be a second one), the show finished off with a mid-credits sequence that introduced a personality long awaited by diehard fans of the comics on which the show is based: Jake Lockley, the hidden third personality that shares the body of Marc Spector along with Spector himself and Steven Grant.
A taxicab driver in the comics, Lockley appears to be repurposed here as a ruthless killer who is – unbeknownst to Spector and Grant – still bonded with the Egyptian god Khonshu at the end of the show. There were teases of Lockley’s presence throughout the season’s six episodes, most notably in instances when Spector and Grant both “blacked out” while Lockley hijacked Spector’s body to commit acts of extreme violence.

“The peace you’ve always wanted, but never had.” According to Taweret, Marc Spector achieved that state when he arrived in the Sea of Reeds in the afterlife. But those words seem like a better description of Marc and Steven at the end of the series finale. The two identities seem to have integrated, and wake up in Steven’s bed, ready to live their lives anew (seemingly unperturbed by the dead bodies surrounding them whenever they blackout). In this state of peace, Marc and Steven’s story has finished.
Well, sort of. Although reports show that star Oscar Isaac only signed on for this one six-episode series, both he and Marvel clearly left the door open for more Moon Knight. So while we wait for a firm announcement one way or another, let’s examine some of the ways that a Moon Knight season two could go.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Moon Knight Season 1, Episode 6, “Gods and Monsters.”] At this point, Marvel fans know there will always be lingering questions at the end of any given MCU series, but its latest drama Moon Knight really left us hanging. In the mid-credits scene, we finally come face-to-face with the third personality in the Marc Spector/Steven Grant dissociative identity disorder triangle — Jake Lockley (Oscar Isaac). And, in perhaps the most exciting development, Marc’s wife Layla El-Faouly (May Calamawy) is now a superhero as well — Marvel’s first Egyptian hero. And they can’t let that gorgeous Wonder Woman-esque costume go to waste, right? Below, we unpack our most lingering questions with director/executive producer Mohamed Diab and executive producer Grant Curtis. Why does Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) leave the scarab behind? Early on in Episode 6, Harrow leaves the scarab on Marc’s dead body before departing with Ammit (voiced by Saba Mubarak). Sure,...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Moon Knight Episode 6.] Moon Knight has come to a close. And with the finale — which dropped Wednesday, May 4 on Disney+ — comes the first Moon Knight post-credits scene. After an epic battle between gods and avatars, the six-part Marvel limited series ended on a familiar, but altogether happier note. Marc Spector and Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) are content as a package deal free from Khonshu (F. Murray Abraham), the threat of Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) and Ammit (Saba Mubarak) is at bay, and Layla (May Calamawy) is officially an avatar/superhero. But there was one final stone left unturned. And the Moon Knight post-credits scene answered a question that’s been lingering for several episodes while simultaneously setting up wherever the story is going next. It seems Marc and Steven may not be as free from Khonshu as they thought. The credits scene finds Harrow in a mental ...
