Indie comics and graphic novels powerhouse Oni-Lion Forge Publishing Group has named Sierra Hahn as its new editor-in-chief.
The former executive editor at Boom! Studios is also a veteran of Dark Horse as an editor and a member of the DC/Vertigo publicity team. Hahn’s hire follows the Oni-Lion Forge Publishing Group tapping Hunter Gorinson as president and publisher in Dec. 2022.
“I’m ecstatic to collaborate with a passionate team of editors and storytellers to build on Oni-Lion Forge’s success and produce bold, groundbreaking, and inspirational stories for generations to come,” Hahn said in a statement on Tuesday.
She will have creative oversight over the indie company’s comics, original graphic novels and high-profile licensed content. “Sierra is an immense talent, and, without a doubt, the ideal choice to lead our editorial team as we reinforce and amplify Oni’s mandate to do what it does best: empower...

So now it’s the turn of The Cat for her own Anniversary Special, hot on the heels of several other DC characters. Catwoman, when she first appeared way back in 1940, was created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane and known simply as The Cat. The Cat was a cat burglar, appropriately enough, and was a femme fatale love interest for Batman, in the spirit of the film noir movies of the day. Finger and Kane chose a cat because they thought it a natural enemy of bats and, speaking as a cat lover I can corroborate this, because cats can be cool, aloof, and little gits (I’m paraphrasing a little there). Originally just a villain, she has changed a lot down the years, both in looks, history, and temperament, and has become something of an iconic character through good writing and clever use.

The South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festivals has announced its 2020 Jury and Special Award winners for this year’s film festival, despite it having been cancelled due to the spread of the coronavirus earlier this month.
The SXSW Film Festival had several Special Awards juries set up, but after the cancellation, the organization expanded to the juried competitions.
“When we curated and announced our slate for the 2020 SXSW Film Festival, filled with an array of wonderful films we were excited to share with our unique audience, we had no idea of the unprecedented impact that Coronavirus would have on all our lives,” Janet Pierson, Director of Film, said. “Our hearts were broken for all the filmmakers who invested so much time and talent in their work, hoping for a transformative experience at our event. We’re honored to at least be able to present our juried and special awards.
