Exclusive: Director Hicham Hajji (Redemption Day) is teaming up with Nkosinathi Maphumulo, aka DJ Black Coffee, on feature God Is A DJ, about the electronic music space.
Hajji describes the film as “a comedy set in the world of electronic music, with a mission to unite the world. With a minority driven cast, the film aims to bring this niche music to the world through the minorities that understand it.”
The movie will follow a young Jewish man and a Moroccan Imam “who team up to form the least likely masked DJ duo — together the two overcome their mutual suspicion to take on the Edm club circuit.”
Grammy-nominated South African DJ and producer Black Coffee, who will serve as an executive producer on the feature, is one of the most prominent names in Edm. He has collaborated with Drake, Pharrell Williams, Usher and David Guetta.

At the end of September, an Mc grabbed a hold of the microphone at a small but crowded club in Durban, South Africa. “Who knows about ‘Amanikiniki?'” he bellowed. “It’s a hit.”
“Amanikiniki” is a hard-charging club single — brute-force bass, sing-song vocals — from the producer DJ Lag, working in collaboration with Unticipated Soundz. DJ Lag released a new video for the track today, which, like many music videos, is full of fancy footwork and kinetic dancing. But unlike many music videos, this one is edited for easy vertical viewing on a mobile device.

Petula Clark makes it her mission to live for today, but she’d prefer to make an exception on the afternoon we speak. The iconic singer—best known for her string of million-sellers in the 1960s—turned 85 this day, and an attempt to begin our phone call with a happy birthday greeting is met with a faux groan. “No, no no—don’t go there. I haven’t done those for a long, long time,” she says with a good natured laugh.
Age is certainly irrelevant, but that goes double for Clark, who is currently in the midst of her...

Ultra Music Festival once again took over Miami’s Bayfront Park last weekend, delivering a solid three days of non-stop music curated by a host of world renowned DJs and performers. Sporting a lineup with a little bit of something for everybody, Ultra 2017 was definitely another memorable entry for the long running festival brand.
The main stage was graced by all the usual superstar DJs, with sets from Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Zedd, Major Lazer, DJ Snake, Tiësto, Steve Aoki, Afrojack, and Axwell /\ Ingrosso, to name a handful.
The production on the main stage was impressive to say the least, with a dazzling array of Led visuals, water features and pyrotechnics so lit I had to check and make sure my eyebrows were still in tact at one point. The custom stage design Ultra uses on the mainstage is the festival’s calling card by now, but it’s...
