Michael David Simmons is an entrepreneur, short-film director, musician, author and actor. He is most known for his music with Signal Controller and the creation of his short-film Ethnos which he later adapted into the Signals Universe, his book Vagabond and his two haiku books called Haiku Slew: A Slew of Haiku and Haiku Slew: Electric Coffee Stream Drip. He is the gaming content creator PhatSaiyan and owns Lunar Operation, a video game news site. He also is owner of Food Bank Database, Lista Alimentos, Kind Utility, and Dweebian, as well as, Sim Morrison, Brew and Breakdown, Fate Hereafter, Kind Gumi, and Ludidroid. Michael was born in Huntsville, Alabama. When he was 5 he moved to Jacksonville, Alabama home of Jacksonville State University, an institution that he would later attend. He has two younger brothers John Derek Simmons and Joseph William Simmons. Michael's father, Derek Williams Simmons died from cancer when he was 15 years old. This same year Michael started participating in the Jacksonville High School Drama Department. He continued with this passion throughout his school career. He has given credit to the Jacksonville Drama Department for therapeutically comforting and giving him direction in such molding years. Michael spent his early to mid-twenties in and out of several colleges trying to fulfill his academic desires. In 2009, he became diagnosed with schizophrenia. The same year he decided he knew what he had been missing for almost 10 years, the performance arts. Shortly after being diagnosed, and while living in Nashville, Tennessee, walking the city attending auditions was routine. He walked in his shoes until his heels were bloody. Finally, he landed two short-film acting jobs. The first was titled "Don't Wake the Baby" directed by Elvis Wilson and the second short-film was named "Homemade with Love" directed by Brennan Eagleton. Michael's next project was Ethnos. He wrote, acted, created the soundtrack, and directed in this his first attempt at making a short-film. He has also expanded Ethnos by adding it to his universe called Signals, thus creating Signals: Ethnos.
