The eleventh episode of The Irrational finally focused solely on the church bombing case that had haunted Mercer since the first episode. After a lot of ups and downs, culminating in the killing of Wes Banning, the series now had to get into who Matthias truly was. Jace had been left to die in the previous episode until Marisa found him in her house, and there was this additional angle of surveillance in the house. There was someone listening in on all of Marisa’s conversations, but she wasn’t aware of the fact that her house had been bugged. The episode got into it all and more as Mercer got closer to catching Matthias and solving the case.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Irrational Season 1 finale “Reciprocity.”] After the events of The Irrational Season 1 finale, we have to see a different Alec (Jesse L. Martin) because he now has the answers he’s been after for years. As he, Marisa (Maahra Hill), Kylie (Travina Springer), Phoebe (Molly Kunz), Rizwan (Arash DeMaxi), and Rose (Karen David) discover, the bombing that left Alec scarred was to cover up one of Senator Sanford’s (James Tupper) staffers dying during one of his events a couple days earlier; she was one of the victims at the church. One of his war buddies, an FBI agent and Marisa’s mentor Bob Caswith (Garry Chalk), is Mathias—and was the one to kill Jace (Brian King). The tag of the finale takes us to six weeks later, with Rose kidnapped and thrown into a van, just after she gets off the phone with Alec. TV Insider turned to ...

The seventh episode of The Irrational really tried too hard to fit many plotlines into the mix and acted like the episode was a feature film rather than a 40-minute affair. There is the Mercer and Rose Dinshaw romantic angle at play again, and it seems the behavioral scientist seems to have found his match when it comes to reading clues and solving cases. Then suddenly, there is a heavy emotional subplot between Kylie and Marisa. It became clear the makers wanted to keep these characters on screen for just a little bit, so we don’t get absorbed in the romantic plot and then find the series a little jarring seeing other characters show up in the next episode doing their things. The effect is that we neither get immersed in the case Rose and Mercer solve together, which is so convoluted it makes one’s head spin, nor...

The fifth episode of The Irrational plays much more in goofy territory as compared to the previous ones. There is no murder or kidnapping to solve for Alec Mercer, but a simple poker cheating scandal. By bringing the stakes down, the show, quite surprisingly, hits the right tone, which accommodates all the psychological jargon quite nicely. The previous episodes had something very serious going on at times, where Mercer explaining the ‘zero-sum’ bias or some other phenomenon felt a little out of place. Here, there is a threat of something nasty happening, but the tone is nicely balanced to reassure us that it never will, and we can sit back and enjoy Mercer cracking the case through his knowledge and acute observational skills.

Why Did Mercer Get The Call?
If Mercer found himself fatigued or he had just solved a case, he expected a few minutes of calm.

Geelong (Victoria), Oct 20 (Ians) UAE survived a late scare from all-rounder David Wiese’s 55 to secure a narrow seven-run win over Namibia in their last Group A match in first round of the Icc Men’s T20 World Cup at Kardinia Park on Thursday.
Thursday’s thrilling win is also UAE’s first-ever win in their history of participating in T20 World Cups. After Muhammad Waseem slammed a 41-ball fifty while skipper Cp Rizwan hit an unbeaten 43 off 29 deliveries to help UAE make a competitive 148/3, Namibia were down and out at 67/7 in 13 overs.
That’s when Wiese stepped up to hit three fours and as many sixes in his 36-ball stay at the crease and shared a 70-run stand with Rubel Trumpelmann with the eighth wicket, a record partnership in T20 World Cup history, as dew started to settle in.

Electing to bat first, the opening pair of Waseem and wicket-keeper Vriitya Aravind put on just 39 runs in the first eight overs. Aravind struggled to accelerate after the power-play ended and got dismissed for 21 off 32 balls off left-arm spinner Bernard Scholtz.
But as soon as Rizwan joined Waseem at the crease, the acceleration for UAE arrived. Waseem brought out the boundaries against Jan Frylinck and JJ Smit while Rizwan took fours off Frylinck and Ben Shikongo.
Two balls after reaching his fifty in the 15th over of the innings, Waseem gave a simple catch to the short third man off Shikongo.

Dubai, Sep 12 (Ians) A collective impressive performance by Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Wanindu Hasaranga and Pramod Madushan led Sri Lanka to Asia Cup 2022 title with a clinical 23-win over Pakistan in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, here on Sunday.
This is Sri Lanka’s sixth Asia Cup title — 1986, 1997, 2004, 2008, 2014 & 2022. After losing their opening game against Afghanistan, Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan and then again Pakistan to clinch the 2022 Asia Cup.
An impressive fighting fifty by Bhanuka Rajapaksa (71 not out off 45) and an attacking knock by Wanindu Hasaranga (36 off 21) propelled Sri Lanka to a fighting total of 170/6 in 20 overs. Apart from Rajapaksa and Hasaranga, Dhananjaya de Silva (28 off 21) and Chamika Karunaratne (14 not out off 14) also played vital knocks for Sri Lanka, during their stay at the crease.
Chasing a challenging total, Pakistan were helped by some wayward bowling of Dilshan Madushanka, who gave 12 runs in the first over rife with wides and uncontrolled swing.

Put into bat first, Pakistan lost the wicket of inform Mohammad Rizwan (14) in the fourth over. Rizwan looked to slog the ball from well outside off but he top-edged and Kusal Mendis took an easy catch.
Thereafter, Fakhar Zaman and skipper Babar Azam batted too cautiously and took Pakistan to 49/1 after 6 overs. Even after the powerplay, Pakistan continued their conservative approach as none of the batters were willing to take risks.

Dubai, Sep 7 (Ians) Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan has become the new No.1-ranked T20I batter in the world after he replaced his skipper Babar Azam at the top of the Icc Rankings, even as India’s Suryakumar Yadav occupies the fourth place in the latest list released on Wednesday.
Rizwan has been in sublime form in the Asia Cup, leading the run charts with 192 runs in three matches. He was Pakistan’s mainstay in their matches against Hong Kong and India, scoring an unbeaten 78 and 71 respectively in their back-to-back victories. His performances have seen him gain one spot, overtaking Babar who has endured a lean run in the tournament so far.
Rizwan becomes only the third Pakistan batter to top the T20I rankings chart after Babar and Misbah-ul-Haq. Babar has been at the top of the T20I batting charts for 1155 days in his career (as of 7 September), according to Icc.

Dubai, Sep 6 (Ians) Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, who had scored a crucial half-century in the team’s thrilling victory against India in the Asia Cup Super Four stage at the Dubai International Stadium on September 4 (Sunday), has been sent for scans following an injury to his right knee.
Rizwan had suffered the injury in the 15th over of the India innings when he fell down awkwardly trying to collect a bouncer from Mohammad Hasnain from well over his head.
Rizwan was in pain right away and the Pakistan physio rushed to the ground to tend to him. Despite the pain and discomfort, Rizwan went on to bat and made a crucial contribution for Pakistan, acting as the chief architect in the run chase with a 51-ball 71.
Reports suggest the opening batter had undergone an Mri scan after the game, but a follow-up scan has been also recommended as a precautionary measure,...
