Chris Hemsworth’s action extravaganza Extraction 2 premiered on Netflix to much praise after showcasing such breathtaking sequences as the one-take prison riot scene. Audiences of the sequel were treated to a cameo appearance as Thor and Heimdall reunite with Idris Elba‘s mysterious “Man in a Suit” character sending Chris Hemsworth’s Rake on a seemingly impossible mission. While it’s easy to view Elba’s brief appearance as simply a catalyst to get the movie going, Elba has recently teased that he has “unfinished business” with Hemsworth and it may be resolved in a later movie.
Collider recently sat down with Elba, who is promoting his Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off, Knuckles, and Elba teases an expansion on his mystery Extraction character. The Luther star stated,
I know that we have some unfinished business from Extraction 2 . It hasn’t been made official yet, but I’m pretty sure it will be.

When early Marvel Studios movies planted their seeds that implied a possible crossover of their films, they came off as fun little easter eggs for the hardcore fans at first. Then, when The Avengers came out in 2012 with its game-changing crossover, the film world saw what they were capable of and studios rushed behind them in line to try to get some of that shared universe glory. A producer on the successful Sonic the Hedgehog movies thinks the video game-inspired franchise has the characters and the lore to build what he hopes will be “Avengers-level” event films.
According to IGN, franchise and series executive producer Toby Ascher recently gave an interview with Paste Magazine where he spoke about Paramount’s plan to build upon the Sonic the Hedgehog movies into a mega event. The studio already has the Knuckles spin-off coming out as a way to look at “supporting characters...

Actor Idris Elba got one of his breakthrough roles starring in the critically acclaimed HBO series The Wire. But Elba was once under the impression that he’d last on the show a bit longer than he did.
How Idris Elba reacted to his character’s ending Idris Elba | Samir Hussein/WireImage
Initially, Elba owed a lot of his success to his character on The Wire. Back then, fans knew the actor as Stringer Bell, who had a mind for how business worked in the drug business. Stringer Bell seemed like a character who’d stick around for the long haul. But the character served his purpose pretty early on the show.
Elba didn’t get the news until he was handed the script for the episode. Speaking on What Now? with Trevor Noah, he even panicked a little bit.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for the season finale of “Hijack,” which dropped on Aug. 4 on Apple TV+.
“Will Kingdom Airlines Flight 29 land safely?” is the question that “Hijack” fans have been asking since the moment arch negotiator Sam Nelson (Idris Elba) first spotted a suspicious-looking toiletry bag being passed from one passenger to another in the aircraft’s plush first class cabin.
Now, after five nail-biting weeks, audiences will finally find out whether Nelson has managed to outwit the hijackers. To mark the season finale, “Hijack” executive producer Hakan Kousetta sat down with Variety to discuss fan reactions, that nerve-wracking ending and whether Elba is likely to return as Nelson for a second season.
Firstly, what has the reaction been like to the series so far?
It’s a very bingeable series, and the weekly release strategy of Apple is obviously wonderfully brilliant in terms of creating that watercooler conversation thing.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Hijack Season 1 finale.] With the season that wraps on Apple TV+ on August 2, Hijack does tell a complete story: Sam (Idris Elba), using his skills as a negotiator, does help land the plane despite quite a few twists involving the hijacking and those involved. However, it’s easy to see how a second season could put him in a different situation where he’d have to find a way to talk himself and others out of trouble. But will that happen? “Oh, never say never on anything,” co-creator and executive producer Jim Field Smith tells TV Insider what he would or wouldn’t want to do in a second season. “I think Sam as a character is really compelling, I think the way Idris portrays him is really compelling, and I think it would always be interesting to see how he would react in other situations, of course.” As for...

Note: The following contains spoilers for “Hijack” Season 1 finale.
The ultra-tense final episode of “Hijack” hit Apple TV+ on Wednesday, following Sam Nelson’s (Idris Elba) last-ditch efforts to talk the hijacker(s) into landing the plane safely, as the government debated whether to shoot the flight down to stop it from crashing over London and cause mass casualties.
TheWrap chatted with the Apple TV+ series co-creators, George Kay and Jim Field Smith, about how they set the stage for the “Amanda twist.” And how the smooth-talking Sam could possibly help end an even tougher situation: The standoff between the AMPTP and writers’ and actors’ guilds.
TheWrap: The finale was very tense. Did you have a bar where you said, “It’s not intense enough, we need to add another wrinkle?”
Jim Field Smith: Once you start it being tense, you can’t make it less tense. When you call a show “Hijack,...

Sam Nelson, played by Idris Elba, is a character that will go down as one of Elba’s best because of his nuanced performance and the highly gripping nature of the series. Hijack, told its story in a ‘real time’ format through the seven episodes, and Idris got to essay the role of the master negotiator Sam Nelson. We have all fantasized at some point or another about what we would do if we were the ones who had to fight off hijackers.
Spoilers Ahead
The character of ‘Sam Nelson’ is our own fantasy depicted on screen. He tries every trick in the book to manipulate the hijackers and manages to save the day. It was no easy task. He wasn’t prepared for his plane to be hijacked. I mean, who is? Yet, keeping his calm in unbearably tense situations, he manages to get the better of the hijackers.

Spoiler Alert: The following story reveals major plot points from tonight’s series finale of FX’s Snowfall.
After 6 seasons, FX’s hit drama series Snowfall said its final goodbye tonight, and while most of what transpired was somewhat expected, seeing a promising life end in poverty and despair is absolutely heartbreaking.
Viewers have been on a journey with Franklin Saint (Damson Idris), seeing his highs and lows and cheering him on no matter what he’s gotten himself into. But money and power tend to change people, especially when said fortune comes from criminal activities. In the end, Franklin is left with no family and friends to speak of—except his day one Leon Simmons (Isaiah John)—a shadow of himself resembling his father Alton Williams (Kevin Carroll) at his lowest in Season 1, drunk and destitute.

After conquering the small screen with roles in "Snowfall" and "Swarm," Damson Idris is racing onto the big screen alongside Brad Pitt in Apple's untitled Formula 1 racing film. On April 7, Deadline reported Idris landed the coveted role after multiple auditions and driving tests. The movie will be helmed by "Top Gun: Maverick" director Joseph Kosinski, who favors naturalistic effects, hence the need for a star who is good behind the wheel.
The movie doesn't have a title yet, but there are plenty of reasons fans should be excited about the project. In addition to Idris's casting, the film also serves as a reunion for the creative team behind the 2022 blockbuster "Top Gun: Maverick." Not only is Kosinski directing, but Jerry Bruckheimer is producing the film, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, Ehren Kruger, one of the writers behind the "Top Gun" sequel, is penning the script.

Chloe Bailey has responded to critics of her Swarm sex scene, arguing that the entire situation was “blown out of proportion” due to the fact that she’s a woman.
Donald Glover’s new Amazon Prime Video series features a star-studded cast of Bailey, Billie Eilish, Rory Culkin and Dominique Fishback, who plays Dre, an obsessed, Houston-based fan who goes on a murderous rampage over her favourite musician.
Minutes into its debut episode – released on 17 March – Dre’s sister Marissa (Bailey) is shown having sex, which was condemned by some viewers for its explicit nature.
Speaking to radio host Big Boy on a recent episode of his Big Boy’s Neighborhood show, the 27-year-old singer and actor brushed off the backlash, saying: “I’m an actress and I feel like it’s about art.”
“It’s not about seeing me in the mirror of that scene,” Bailey argued. “But I think...

Daisy May Cooper is under consideration to take over from Dame Judi Dench as M in the next iteration of the James Bond franchise, per multiple reports.
The Gloucestershire-born actor and writer is best known for her West Country comedy series This Country, which she wrote and starred in.
According to The Sun, Cooper’s potential casting came about after Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s work on No Time to Die paved the way for more comedy in the franchise.
“Daisy is a close pal of Phoebe, whose involvement in Bond was such a success that it sparked an unlikely conversation,” a source told the tabloid.
“Suddenly the production team were getting excited about the prospect of really taking ‘M’ in a different direction.”
Eon Productions chief Barbara Broccoli is currently on the search for the next 007 after Daniel Craig’s retirement.

“Luther” sequel film “The Fallen Sun” opens like many of the episodes from the Idris Elba detective drama: with someone getting murdered. In the film’s case, the victim is Callum Aldrich (James Bamford), who is kidnapped and killed by wealthy serial killer David Robey (Andy Serkis). But in the film’s first draft, Callum was a woman before creator Neil Cross made a rewrite — at the request of Netflix.
Cross revealed the change in a recent interview with The Independent. The writer, who created the original series and penned every episode in addition to “Fallen Sun’s” screenplay, said that the first victim was female in the original script in part because he believes violence against women is more “frightening” for viewers.
“For reasons I fear to interrogate too deeply, the female victims resonate and scare more deeply,” Cross told The Independent. “So, there was a defiant part of...

Director Jamie Adams reflects on early relationships and the ghosts of unresolved separation in his latest film, She Is Love. The story revolves around an unexpected reunion, when Patricia (Haley Bennett) arrives at a country hotel in Cornwall that is run by her ex-husband, Idris (Sam Riley) and his girlfriend Louise (Marisa Abela). As if fate has thrust them together, Patricia and Sam struggle through the awkwardness of their shared history, in the hope of finding a resolution.
In conversation with Eye For Film, Adams discussed his interest in improvisation, its limits, and using cinema to explore ideas that are neither possible nor pragmatic.
Paul Risker: There’s the story we see onscreen, and there’s the story in the making of the film. Are there any stories within the story that come to mind?
Jamie Adams: The first thing is the pandemic affected us.

“Beyhive, don’t kill us,” Donald Glover said, with just a hint of nerves in his voice, at the Los Angeles premiere of “Swarm,” his latest series for Amazon’s Prime Video. “It’s not that bad. It’s actually, like, pretty cool.”
The quip came at the end of Glover’s remarks on Tuesday night as he introduced the show, which is now streaming. The buzzy, immersive special screening followed the show’s debut as SXSW’s opening night TV offering on March 17.
At this event, though, Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon and MGM Studios, and Vernon Sanders, head of global TV, introduced Glover, which was appropriate since “Swarm” marks his first project under their lucrative overall deal with the “Atlanta” creator and star.
“We’re really in the hive here,” Salke began, going on to praise the show as an “incredible, original vision.” Added Sanders: “When we...

Fans of Luther have complained about an apparent plot hole in the new Netflix movie Luther: The Fallen Sun.
Released on the streaming service last week, The Fallen Sun follows on from the hit BBC series, and sees Idris Elba return as the maverick detective John Luther.
Spoilers follow for Luther: The Fallen Sun – you have been warned!
At the end of Luther’s fifth series, Elba’s character is arrested after failing to save his ex-lover-turned-nemesis Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson).
Fallen Sun begins with Luther behind bars. While it is not revealed exactly why he is imprisoned, he was previously suspected of the murders of Alice, DS Halliday, Benny Silver (Michael Smiley), and Mr Palmer, an assassin.
As viewers know, he was in fact innocent of all the murders, despite a propensity for breaking the rules. However, it seems like he was convicted on at least one of the counts.
