The Irregulars on Netflix edged The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+ on Nielsen’s weekly U.S. streaming chart.
The supernatural Sherlock Holmes drama tallied 643 million minutes of viewing during the week of March 29 to April 4, compared with 628 million for Falcon. In a key difference, though, there are eight episodes of The Irregulars, compared with three for the Marvel series, which used Disney’s usual weekly release model. Nielsen’s rankings always reflect a nearly month-long lag time, by arrangement with streaming providers.
The Irregulars is a new twist on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s tales of Holmes, Doctor Watson and the other Baker Street staples. Billed as a darker take, it centers on a gang of troubled teens and departs from other Sherlock adaptations by depicting Watson as a sinister figure. Tom Bidwell, whose credits include Watership Down and My Mad Fat Diary, is the show’s writer and an executive producer.

USA Network may be Walking Tall, with WWE star Charlotte Flair attached to headline a potential series remake of the 1973 film, our sister site Deadline reports.
Flair, who appeared in Psych: The Movie, will play a Tucson cop who finds herself caught in a web of fraud, exploitation and murder, forcing her to go full vigilante to protect her home town from falling victim to modern corruption. (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson starred in a 2004 movie remake of the original film, which featured Joe Don Baker as a professional wrestler-turned-lawman.)

Move over, McU, Robert Downey Jr.’s got his eyes on a different shared universe now.
After saying goodbye to Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame, Downey Jr. is returning as the Great Detective in the upcoming Sherlock Holmes 3. But this belated sequel won’t be an “end of a trilogy” kind of deal. In actual fact, it’s being conceived as a launching pad for a Holmes cinematic universe – or, as Rdj is calling it, a “Mystery-Verse.”
Speaking alongside wife and business partner Susan Downey at Fast & Company’s keynote speech today, the actor revealed their plans to use the threequel, which he’ll be starring in opposite Jude Law as Doctor Watson, to spur a load of cross-media spinoffs based on the works of Holmes creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
“At this point, we really feel that there is not a mystery-verse built out anywhere, and Conan Doyle...

After years of waiting, Sherlock Holmes 3 is finally on its way. The last time Robert Downey Jr. played the Great Detective, with Jude Law at his side as Doctor Watson, was way back in 2011. Unfortunately, since then he’s been busy portraying some kind of superhero, so it’s taken until now for a third film to emerge. Production is due to start early next year though and, ahead of that, one major story detail has been revealed.
It’s already been reported that Sherlock Holmes 3 will take Holmes and Watson to the Wild West and now the villain they’ll face in the States has been identified. We Got This Covered has heard from our sources – the same ones who said Bill Murray would return for Ghostbusters 3 and that Ewan McGregor was coming back as Obi-Wan, both of which turned out to be true – that the antagonist...

We haven’t seen a new adventure for Robert Downey Jr.’s Sherlock in almost a decade now – he’s been busy working on some superhero franchise or whatever – but Sherlock Holmes 3 is now definitely on its way. Jude Law will likewise be back as Doctor Watson but this time around, Guy Ritchie won’t be on hand to direct, after helming both 2009’s Sherlock Holmes and 2011’s A Game of Shadows.
Taking over from him is Rocketman‘s Dexter Fletcher and while speaking with Collider, he opened up about replacing Ritchie, touching on how he’ll honor what his predecessor did with the franchise but also give it his own spin.
“I think that’s inevitable, isn’t it? Whenever you have different filmmakers. I’m not gonna ignore what he did so brilliantly before. There will be an element of that, but I will also bring my...

It’s been two and a half years since Sherlock was on our screens, and ever since we’ve been told much the same thing from those involved with the show: don’t expect any more for a while. As time has gone on, we’ve understood that they really mean that. In fact, the latest word on the series’ future comes from Doctor Watson himself, Martin Freeman, who thinks that a fifth season shouldn’t happen unless it’s “really, really special.”
While speaking with Collider to promote his new movie Ode to Joy, Freeman was asked if there’d been any recent discussions between the cast and the crew about Sherlock season 5. The actor admitted that there hadn’t been due to how busy everyone is, and also explained the following:
“They’re few and far between, the discussions about Sherlock, just because Mark [Gatiss] and Steven [Moffat], the writers,...

‘Rocketman’ helmer, Dexter Fletcher has taken over the director’s chair from Guy Ritchie for the third instalment of ‘Sherlock Holmes’.
Robert Downey Jr has also been confirmed to reprise the titular character. Whilst it hasn’t been confirmed whether Jude Law will be returning as Doctor Watson, it is expected.
Sources say Warner Bros. had always planned on making a third film. However, Downey’s busy schedule as Iron Man prevented any new filming for the series.
Also in news – Millie Bobby Brown enters the Marvel Universe in ‘The Eternals’
Fletcher takes over the reins from Ritchie who had been in the driving seat for the 2009 outing and its follow-up ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ in 2011. Both were a massive hit, with the first grossing $524 million globally and the second bringing in $545.4 million worldwide.
Chris Brancato is penning the script, while Susan Downey, Joel Silver, Dan Lin and Lionel Wigram are producing.

If one thing is for certain, it’s that the fate and future of BBC’s Sherlock are messy, to say the least. When it first debuted, the series – which stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman – received critical acclaim for its clever writing, visual design, and strong direction, all held together by creators Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, both of whom are best known for their work on Doctor Who.
Unfortunately, despite a massive fanbase and worldwide popularity, the series began to stumble. While the first three seasons were well received by critics and fans alike, the fourth (which aired in early 2017) didn’t enjoy the same success, thanks in part to a finale that many argue was convoluted, contrived, and poorly written.

Officially, BBC’s smash hit detective drama Sherlock is only on hiatus, to be resumed whenever its two blockbuster lead actors – Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman – can find the time to film some more episodes. Unofficially, though, it’s looking increasingly likely that the show is over. The cast and crew’s comments since the fourth season wrapped up in 2017 have given the distinct feeling that they won’t be reuniting for more.
Now, Doctor Watson himself, Martin Freeman, has offered perhaps the clearest clue yet that Sherlock‘s lifespan is up. The star spoke to Heart and suggested that he thinks they should call it a day. He even came up with the perfect reference point to explain why Sherlock shouldn’t return.
“I always feel you do something as long as everyone involved want to do it, as long as the band wants stays together you do it.

Here is what you need to know about the Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly reunion in Holmes and Watson, a humorous take on Sherlock Holmes.
At any given moment, there is the potential for there to be two Sherlock Holmes shows on TV, and then an action movie franchise still possibly on tap at Warner Bros. So why not a comedy franchise too? Clearly, the market hasn’t saturated yet, and maybe there is humor to be found in the overabundance of deerstalker caps? This must be the thinking at Sony since the studio has has cast Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as Holmes and Watson. Indeed, a comedy variation on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's beloved literary creations is coming down the pipeline and we have everything you need to know, our good fellows.
