We tv is expanding its slate with one new scripted drama and one new reality series. “Toya & Reginae” is a new reality series that centers around rapper Lil Wayne’s ex-wife, Toya Johnson-Rushing, and their daughter, Reginae Carter, while “Bev Is Boss” is a narrative show about music managing mogul Deb Antney. Head of programming Dan McDermott announced the news Tuesday as part of AMC Networks’ upfronts.
Of the two projects, “Toya & Reginae” falls more in line with We tv’s previously existing slate of unscripted content. The series will showcase the highs and lows of a mother-daughter duo that’s been in the spotlight for years. It promises to give fans a peak behind what they see on social media as it explores their love lives, careers, family dynamics and their “seemingly dysfunctional family.”

Exclusive: Traci Blackwell has stepped down as EVP, Scripted Programming for BET Networks after a year and a half, a network spokesperson confirmed to Deadline. A replacement will be announced shortly.
Based in Los Angeles and reporting to BET Networks President Scott Mills, Blackwell led development, casting and current of original scripted programming for the BET linear network and the company’s SVOD service, BET+. The position was created in late 2019 amid a scripted expansion — both on the linear network and the SVOD service — fueled by several creative partnerships, most notably with Tyler Perry who has generated a slew of new series for BET and BET+.
Mills announced Blackwell’s departure in a company email Tuesday afternoon, which also included a message from her. In the memo, Mills noted that “BET leads the industry in the creation of Black scripted content by volume.” The network’s 14 scripted series in 2021, including series from Tyler Perry,...

Summer is in full swing and with everyone staying at home as much as possible to prevent the spread of Covid-19, we’re imagining your plans for this July and August have more to do with TV listings than they did in years past. Luckily, dozens of new and returning shows are premiering this summer, even though there are fewer than usual, due to pandemic-forced production shutdowns. But the list still includes some big titles like “The Twilight Zone” and “The Umbrella Academy,” plus original shows for new streaming services HBO Max and Peacock. Introduzione all'oscuroVienna during the final week of October and early November: the days get noticeably shorter (it’s dark already!), the inner city is all aflutter with autumn winds, wilting leaves and that sinking feeling slowly sets in that yet another year is somehow already nearing its end. And while this may induce in some a tendency towards a perfectly reasonable cynicism about how all things inevitably expire, it can also prompt in others an equally sensible optimism about all the new things to come. For me at this year’s Viennale—one of those film festivals where to attend truly feels like a gift rather than a chore—the sense was definitely that of the latter. If the 2017 edition was overshadowed, if not haunted, by the unexpected death of its beloved festival director Hans Hurch, who was at the helm of the festival for two decades, this year, under...

Exclusive: Bet Networks has licensed Carl Weber’s The Family Business, based on best-selling author’s crime drama book series. The project will air as an eight-episode drama series starring and executive produced by Ernie Hudson. It is set to premiere on Nov. 13 on Bet.
The Family Business was originally developed and produced as an indie feature franchise based on the books. The first film started filming in July 2017, with Tri Destined Studios and Urban Books Media producing for a fall 2018 release. The companies subsequently put together a sequel with the same cast, which is still in production. Instead of pursuing a theatrical release, the producers took the two movies to Bet. They will now be recut into an eight-episode series, which will be a co-production of Bet, Tri Destined Studios and Urban Books Media. I hear there is talk about potential future installments.
