Let’s face reality — certain people just can’t keep a secret, and this even applies to some actors on a set. Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale falls into this category.
The show, which ended in 2017, revolved around a major mystery — the identity of “A.” While it is easy to assume that all the actors knew the answer to this secret, it wasn’t the case. As it turns out, Hale was one of the only cast members not allowed to know who “A” was.
Who was ‘A’ on ‘Pretty Little Liars’?
This can get a bit complicated, so let’s do a quick rundown. Pretty Little Liars revolved around four teenage girls — Aria, Spencer, Hanna, and Emily — who, according to Reel Rundown, are stalked by the mysterious and unknown “A.” “A” blackmails the girls using information only their deceased friend Alison would know.

Book-to-tv adaptations are not the same as book-to-movie adaptations.
They are more complex, require drastic changes to the storyline's pacing, and create new "what-ifs" that were not in the books.
So, it is essential not to compare every detail for book-to-tv the way you might with book-to-movie.
That being said, sometimes TV adaptations are just too much.
They change everything about the books to the point where they are completely unrecognizable, for the worst. It goes beyond the story -- everything that made the books fundamentally special disappeared on the TV show.
Freeform's Pretty Little Liars is a perfect example of this disaster. What started as a typical book-to-tv adaptation ended as one of the biggest trainwrecks in the history of adaptations.
Now, let's be clear -- despite the liars having different appearances in the books, this factor does not matter if the actors understand their characters, which is the case for Pretty Little Liars.

When Pretty Little Liars wrapped its seven-season run, Emily and Alison were happy.
After a string of ups and downs, they managed to come out the other side, and built a family unit.
All seemed to be going well for them ... until Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists hit the air.
The spinoff took Alison away from her wife and children to start a new life in Beacon Heights, and she found herself immersed in another murder.
Throughout Pll: The Perfectionists Season 1 we learned there was a rift of epic proportions between Alison and Emily.
Their relationship seemed to conclude forever when Alison received divorce papers.
When the spinoff was canceled after a single season, fans questioned whether the power couple found their way back together.
Fortunately, that seems to be the case.
Pll showrunner Marlene King took to social media to give fans an update on the matter, and it's good news.

Pretty Little Liars has been over for two years, and the mystery drama revealed the identity of the elusive Ad during the series finale.
There were many fan theories about who the villain was over the years, and a large portion of them seemed to suggest that it would Spencer Hastings' twin.
If you watch Pretty Little Liars online, you know that's ultimately what happened.
We learned that Mary Drake had another daughter, Alex Drake and that she had been the one messing with the liars in the final few seasons of the Freeform smash hit.

Pretty Little Liars was never a show anybody could take seriously.
From its questionable plot choices to the dreaded red herrings to the half-baked reveals, it could have passed as a sci-fi series because of the way the villains seemed to have superhuman abilities to remain one step ahead of the liars.
On Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, two old liars are joined by three new ones, and if you can suspend your disbelief, then there's a show worth watching in there somewhere.
Moving the action to a college setting was a good move. Saying goodbye to the high-school setting gives the series an immediate edge over the original's debut, but that's not to say the show is not cliche-ridden and littered with some pretty little errors.

Pretty Little Liars may be over, but The Perfectionists are only just beginning. With Alison and Mona moving to Beacon Heights, they will need to count on each other if they will make it out of there alive.
Still, there is something wonderful about having your friends around even in a limited sense. If this is a spinoff, it would be great for fans of the previous show to at least see some familiar faces as they are eased into the new story.
And with a murder stirring trouble in the small town, there are plenty of characters from Pretty Little Liars that have enough experience to assist Mona and Alison.
Here is a slideshow featuring some options that would be a lovely surprise in Beacon Heights, or in some cases, a necessary one.

I don’t think I’ve ever loved a perfect show. I find it impossible to connect with ‘prestige’ dramas, and have always gravitated towards messy, flawed shows over The Sopranos and The Wires of the world. Pretty Little Liars is one of those shows, sometimes at its best and worst within the same scene, and a story whose constantly conflicting genres have angered fans and critics time and time again.
But it’s finished now, and I’ve seen as many lists of stupid stuff that went down as I have think-pieces about how it changed television forever without anyone really noticing. I agree with both, and I also have...

Was the Pretty Little Liars truth out there this whole time? The Freeform series ended its seven-season run with no fewer than a gazillion twists, the biggest being the identity of A.D., the Uber A. Sequels are hard to get right. Go too far in a new direction and you run the risk of betraying the original, hew too closely to an established formula and you’ll be accused of repetition. Television spin-offs arguably have an easier time of it as they can essentially recreate themselves in the image of whatever aspect of the original show they’re putting front and centre, but the tricky balancing act of creating something new while giving people what they want remains.
