On Friday, Marvel Studios embarks on its biggest gamble since the debut of “The Avengers” in 2012 with the premiere of its first TV series for Disney Plus, “WandaVision.” While other Marvel divisions have ventured into series that are nominally part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — like ABC’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and Netflix’s “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones” — “WandaVision” is the first television venture produced by Marvel Studios proper, which is to say, by studio chief Kevin Feige.
Over 12 years, Feige shepherded the 23 feature films in the MCU to historic, industry-transforming success, as each movie knit together a larger tapestry of storytelling that culminated in 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame” and “Spider-Man: Far From Home.” The next phase of the MCU — feature films “Black Widow” and “Eternals” and Disney Plus series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” and “WandaVision” — were all supposed to debut in 2020. The Covid-19 pandemic, however, pushed all those...

Jason Aaron's first issue of Thor: God of Thunder came out almost six years ago to the day, and since that issue, his entire Thor epic has been leading to this: a newly announced miniseries from Marvel, The War of the Realms.
“I have been building towards War of the Realms for the entire duration of my Thor run. So we're talking six years and 80-something issues and counting. This is a war that covers the entire globe and involves the biggest heroes of the Marvel Universe," said Aaron in a statment from Marvel.
The series gets the creative team of The Mighty Thor back together - Aaron writing, the amazing Russel Dauterman drawing, and perennially jobbed Eisner nominee Matt Wilson coloring.

With relaunches already announced for both Avengers and Venom, you probably figured that more #1’s would be named as part of Marvel’s upcoming “Fresh Start” initiative. Actually, the two series we’re talking about today come as a no-brainer, with both headlining heroes being recent box office successes.
Of course, with Black Panther becoming a powerhouse at theaters the world over, T’Challa was among the first to spring to mind when it came to heroes to be given this treatment. And with such mainstream exposure being enjoyed, one can only hope that translates into more interest in his comics.
When it comes to who’ll be at the helm, writer Ta-Nehisi Coates will still be the guiding hand, with Daniel Acuna tapped to provide art and covers. Normally, you’d figure a clean slate to be in order, but Coates has garnered so much praise for his work...

These days, variant covers have become very serious business, effectively allowing the consumer to have alternate choices as to which pieces of dynamic artwork they can add to their respective collections. Some variants may be as common as standard covers or a few may be made available to each comic shop, thereby driving up the price tag. Heck, we’ve even seen the rise of retailer and con exclusive covers in recent years, causing certain editions of books to be sought after like the Holy Grail.
Not long ago, Marvel rolled out its hip hop variants, paying tribute to some of the great album covers the genre has had to offer over the years. Basically, they take a look at the original piece and give it a bit of a superhero spin. So, having...
