Axel Petersen’s Malta-set drama Shame On Dry Land won a record seven prizes at the Guldbagge awards, Sweden’s national film ceremony, held on Monday, January 15 in Stockholm.
The film, about a con man who becomes entangled in a Swedish online gambling community while in Malta, took best director for Petersen, best actor for Joel Spira, and best supporting actor for Christopher Wagelin.

Once again, ABC is ringing in the new year — and the 50th anniversary of its “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.” The end-of-year special, the longest-running one in the United States, is celebrating its half-century anniversary on December 31, after it first premiered on NBC in 1972.
The special will broadcast live December 31. beginning 8 p.m. Et/7 p.m. Ct on ABC, and will air until 2 a.m. Et. Ryan Seacrest is set to return to host the special for the 18th time, interviewing guests and presenting performances from Times Square in New York City while counting down to the annual ball drop. Tomorrow X Together bagged their first trophy at the ‘MTV Europe Music Awards (hereinafter ‘MTV EMAs’).’ The Gen Z’s ‘It’ boys won the ‘Best Asia Act’ at the ‘2022 MTV EMAs’ held at the Psd Bank Dome in Dusseldorf, Germany, on November 13. Tomorrow X Together set a record to be the first K-pop act to grab the category at the MTV EMAs.
Tomorrow X Together sent thanks to their fans, Moa, for the award, saying “We are incredibly excited to be named ‘Best Asia Act’ of 2022! We couldn’t have done it without Moa. There are good things coming. So, please keep an eye out.”

Exclusive: XYZ Films’ fledgling domestic distribution division has closed a multiyear, exclusive home entertainment partnership with Decal, beginning with their 2022 film slate.
Decal is the home ent distribution venture launched earlier this year by Neon and Bleecker Street.
Under the XYZ deal, Decal will handle the home entertainment window for all titles released through the XYZ Distribution Label, led by former Drafthouse Films and Neon COO James Emanuel Shapiro.
Upcoming XYZ Film releases include the latest sci-fi feature from Justin Bensen and Aaron Morehead, Something In The Dirt.
The output deal was negotiated by XYZ’s James Emanuel Shapiro and Ayo Kepher-Maat from Decal.
“I’m excited we found a partner as prestigious as Decal to handle our transactional rights. From top to bottom, they have assembled an all-star team of the folks I respect the most in this space,” said James Emanuel Shapiro, EVP of XYZ Films distribution label.
