Remedy is a popular developer that pushes the boundaries between narrative and gameplay a bit closer. In the first Alan Wake game, this studio included an Easter egg on the game’s cover, a feature that few players noticed until today.
X user RuleTime posted a full picture of the cover, showing how a very important character of the game was also part of the cover, which no one had noticed until now. The comments even show how this was on the cover of only certain versions of the game, which have more space to add that detail.

Stranger Things is one of the most iconic pieces of sci-fi horror of this generation. The Netflix series quickly amassed a mass following after the first season, and the numbers kept climbing with every subsequent season. The end of the series in 2022 was a much-awaited event, and it spawned many collaborations with other pop culture franchises.
One of these was Dead by Daylight, the asymmetrical online multiplayer that allows players to become their favorite supernatural villains. Given the theme of the game, Stranger Things fits right into the mix, and we now have another addition from the series coming to the game.

Alan Wake 2 fans are currently enjoying this survival horror game to the fullest. This game has evolved in a big way ever since it was launched in 2023. One by one, developer Remedy Entertainment has made improvements to this game. This game looks excellent and has been loved by every gamer who has tried their hands at it. The best part is that they improved significantly over the prequel in terms of gameplay. It wears its Resident Evil influence on its sleeves.
Its story, too, was something else; it features a parallel narrative simultaneously telling the story of two different characters at the same time. To add to everything else, its ending was such that fans are still wondering if this game will get a sequel or not. A lot of signs from the developer and its latest game suggest that there will indeed be a sequel.
No, Alan Wake 2 is not the last game in the series

Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2 was certainly one of the most popular games of 2023. It took Remedy more than a decade to give the fans a sequel to 2010’s Alan Wake. Many will agree that it was worth the wait, however, it still lacks some things that fans hope to see in the next installment of the series.
Alan Wake 2
Although there is no information regarding Alan Wake 3, having these particular things in the next game would certainly uplift the gaming experience. The video game competes with titles like Resident Evil and The Last of Us, so it certainly needs some changes to keep up with them. Some post-release updates and different types of enemies are two primary things that fans would like to see in the next game.

After 13 years of waiting, Alan Wake 2 finally made an entry last year, keeping up with a narrative that left people with a cliffhanger. But it wasn’t an easy feat to bring the story alive, despite what appears to have ample time to develop the game. But all that effort did pay off. Remedy Entertainment saw it as their fastest-selling product. Clasping 50 percent more sales than Control in just half the time comparatively.
Recently, the team held an Ask Me Anything (Ama) session on the social media platform Reddit where the three individuals, including Nathalie Jankie, mission designer, Marko Miukku, gameplay lead, and John Crossland, lead character artist, shared how they fought the uphill battle in the making of Alan Wake 2.

Alan Wake 2, the long-awaited sequel to the cult classic Alan Wake, released in 2023 and quickly racked up a reputation as one of the all-time greatest horror games ever made. It boasts not only a thrilling narrative, but also a unique and unconventional soundtrack, perfectly mirroring the game’s wild and unpredictable nature.
Composer Petri Alanko, known for his unorthodox methods, went to some nutty lengths to create a soundscape that matches the game’s oddball energy. Be warned, it may be nuttier than the story itself.

Alan Wake 2’s Soundtrack Features Burnt Pianos And Adult Toys

Alan Wake 2‘s developer, Remedy, went above and beyond for the game, incorporating dual protagonists, an out of the blue musical number, and subtle nods to their rich history.

It may be some time before we see Alan Wake coming to our TV screens. Given the current trend of video games being picked up and adapted to the screen, fans of the cult franchise are desperate to see this being brought to life, and rightly so. Given the storyline and the psychological terrors that accompany the game, it is easily one game that could be successful.
Despite AMC buying the rights to the game franchise to develop it into a television series, we have heard very little regarding this and hopefully, it doesn’t descend into development limbo, never to be heard of again. However, looking at a recent trailer for an upcoming horror movie, fans of the franchise may see similarities to the much-loved Alan Wake games.
The closest film to Alan Wake we’ve seen?
Shades of Alan Wake with the upcoming horror movie, Late Night with the Devil?...

With Alan Wake already running around in Dead by Daylight, and the time-limited “Lights Out” event wrapping up earlier this week, Behaviour Interactive are already cooking up hype for what’s next. The developer has released a new teaser video in a “found footage” format that appears to tease a potential new Killer for Dead by Daylight.
Behaviour Interactive took to X earlier today and posted the following video, which echoes one of the more notable scenes from The Blair Witch Project, with the character whispering that someone is pacing around their tent. A cut in the footage then shows the flap being slowly unzipped before whatever it is outside of the tent rushes through and attacks the person. We get a few glimpses of whatever it is that’s attacking the occupant, but it’s frustratingly distorted.

With Alan Wake now available for Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive has unleashed the previously-announced limited event with “Lights Out”. Running through February 14, Lights Out puts players on a Map shrouded in darkness with a limited interface, heightening the tension while also offering up higher-quality items to help even the odds.
“With Lights Out we really wanted to ratchet up the horror and tension that’s at the core of our game,” says Michael Nielson, Game Design Team Lead on Dead by Daylight. “Our goal was to make Trials even more immersive and terrifying. There’s going to be lots of surprises as you never know what’s coming around the next corner!”
In addition to being engulfed in total darkness, players will also have to contend with the fact that all of their Perks are now disabled. Not only that, but the Killer no longer has a Terror Radius,...

The day’s finally arrived for Alan Wake to enter The Fog and join Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight. Alan Wake joins the asymmetrical multiplayer title as the latest Survivor as part of Tome 18: Revision.
You know the story by now: best-selling author Alan Wake has a case of writer’s block. A trip to Bright Falls was supposed to clear his mind, but instead set off a nightmarish chain of events that led to his disappearance and imprisonment in the mysterious Dark Place. This time, while fighting to write his way to freedom and escape the Dark Place, he remembered a script he wrote for Night Springs about a horrifying place shrouded in fog. Those memories soon shaped reality as he was swallowed up into The Entity’s Ream and the world of Dead by Daylight, trading one Dark Place for another.

Behaviour Interactive dropped their surprise last week regarding Alan Wake making the leap to Dead by Daylight later this month. Now they’ve released a new Spotlight trailer for the upcoming Chapter, highlighting Alan Wake’s character Perks that players will be able to use. It’s also narrated by Alan Wake’s voice actor Matthew Porretta, who will also be reprising his role as the tortured writer in the Dlc.
As was touched on when the Alan Wake Chapter was announced, Wake has access to three unique Perks: Champion of Light, Boon: Illumination, and Deadline.
Champion of Light grants players additional movement speed while shining a Flashlight. If you successfully Blind a Killer with the Flashlight, they will be affected by the Hindered Status Effect, slowing them down. Pairing this Perk with Haddie Kaur’s Residual Manifest will further compromise the Killer with the Blindness Status Effect.

The teasing by Behaviour Interactive yesterday on X didn’t lie: Alan Wake is coming to Dead by Daylight! Fresh from last year’s accolades, the author heads into the fog in the latest chapter for the asymmetrical horror game on January 30th. Wake is voiced once again by Matthew Porretta and based on the likeness of Ilkka Villi. The announcement is accompanied by a new trailer showing Alan Wake working at his typewriter as the fog rolls in.
“We are thrilled to bring Alan Wake, our tortured writer, into the acclaimed Dead by Daylight. We feel the lore of our two horror experiences is a match made in the Dark Place and can’t wait to experience the horrors that await him in the Fog,” says Sam Lake, Creative Director of Remedy Entertainment.

James McCaffrey, a seasoned veteran of the small screen and the voice of the iconic video game character Max Payne, has died.
He was 65.
According to reports, McCaffrey died Sunday of multiple myeloma cancer.
He was probably most well-known to non-video game players for his work on Rescue Me, where he played Jimmy Keefe.
Keefe was a New York firefighter who lost his life on 9/11.
He appears as a ghost to his cousin, played by Denis Leary, and his character drives some of Leary's richest scenes as Leary's character tries to understand the loss and why he's still alive.
McCaffrey had a series regular role for the first three seasons before switching to a recurring capacity for the final four seasons.
The FX hit also starred John Scurti, Michael Lombardi, Steven Pasquale, and Andrea Roth.
Throughout his career, the actor had countless credits across movies, TV, and video games.

Some sad news is circulating through the entertainment stratosphere with word that Rescue Me actor and video game voice actor for characters Max Payne and Agent Alex Casey (Alan Wake II), James McCaffrey, died Sunday of multiple myeloma cancer. He was 65. McCaffrey’s manager says he passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.
A New York native, McCaffrey’s star started rising when he appeared on the 1991-93 TV legal drama series Civil Wars. In 1996, he appeared as Mac Swift on 13 episodes of the Dick Wolf series Swift Justice. Wolf and McCaffrey hit it off, paving the way for collaboration across more projects, including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. In addition to taking on the TV sector with roles in Viper, Sex and the City, As the World Turns, and Beautiful People, McCaffrey’s most notable live-action role is for the firefighter drama Rescue Me.

Before Alan Wake hit the scene, PC gamers had Gabriel Knight as their horror author caught in a psychological nightmare. Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers hit the PC back in December 1993, and despite its eventual sales figures deeming it to be a disappointment, Sins of the Fathers still received praise from critics and fans, thanks in part to its voice cast and mature story. Publisher Sierra still stuck with it, and kicked off a series that remains highly regarded among fans of the adventure genre.
Gabriel Knight is a cocky New Orleans book store owner and author struggling with a case of writer’s block. Compounding the situation for Gabriel are his recurring nightmares. Currently looking for material by researching a series of killings across New Orleans, Gabriel’s research leads him to determine that that the police’s theory about mob-related killings is wrong. Since the decline (and apparent death) of E3, The Game Awards have become gaming’s biggest yearly event. While that’s partially due to the major reveals and announcements that have quickly come to define the modern era of the show, The Game Awards are obviously still about honoring the best games and creators of the year. So far as that goes, The Game Awards jury certainly has their work cut out for them this year.
After all, 2023 has been one of the best years in gaming history in terms of the sheer number of quality titles that have been released thus far. Not only have we been treated to a surprisingly high number of modern masterpieces this year, but those games cover such a surprising amount of ground in terms of their genres, style, and accomplishments. You too could wear your own Saga jumper this Christmas, as Remedy releases a free knitting pattern for the Alan Wake 2 star’s outfit.
The long-awaited Alan Wake 2 was a ripping horror yarn, and in the wake of its success (sorry), developer Remedy Entertainment is offering a yarn of a different kind.
Over on its website, the Swedish studio has put up a complete guide to knitting your own jumper, just like the one worn by the game’s second player character, FBI agent Saga Anderson (as spotted by Eurogamer).
The Saga’s Sweater Knitting Guide provides all the information you’ll need, from the pattern itself – a tasteful combo of stylised fir trees, mountains and a cut little reindeer – to measurements to the types of yarn and needles you’ll need. It’s a brilliant idea, and is all part and parcel of a wider cosplay guide, which shows...

People tend to conflate Lovecraftian horror with tentacled sea-monsters and secretive fish cults, but one of the absolute best of the author’s weird tales features almost none of the aesthetic elements traditionally associated with his writing. Following a college student who befriends a paranoid musician condemned to play strange melodies every night in order to ward off otherworldly horrors, The Music of Erich Zann remains my personal favorite example of a story using art to comment on the human condition.
It’s not the only Lovecraft story about a troubled artist (with yarns like Pickman’s Model likely borrowing from the poets and painters of Robert W. Chambers’ The King in Yellow collection), but I think the tale of Erich Zann still resonates today because most readers can relate to the Sisyphean ordeal of being forced to repeatedly perform a task in order to keep their world from falling apart.

In every single aspect that matters, Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2 is to the original Alan Wake what Twin Peaks: The Return was to the first two seasons of Twin Peaks. Hell, in a wild twist, the first Alan Wake had the eponymous author penning a new novel called Return long before the third season of Mark Frost and David Lynch’s iconic television series was even announced, let alone titled. What they also have in common is a certain artistic ethos—the feeling that beyond being sequels to extraordinarily weird cult pieces of pop art, Alan Wake 2 and The Return are the sum total of lessons learned over time by their creators.
For Remedy, even with certain logistical corporate problems in the way, the meta text is clear: that art—in particular, the shared connected universe created by Remedy—exists not in a bubble, but in an unknowably vast...

While it feels silly to point out that Alan Wake 2 is a horror game, much has been made of the transition from Alan Wake’s style of Action Horror to Alan Wake 2’s brand of more “pure” Survival Horror. In fact, quite a few people seem to be wondering if Alan Wake 2 will be too scary for them to enjoy.
That topic even came up during our recent interview with Alan Wake 2 directors Sam Lake and Kyle Rowley. The pair were well aware of the challenges of making a properly scary horror game that isn’t so effective that people end up not wanting to play it. That’s especially true for this sequel that is building upon a scary (but generally slightly more accessible) horror gaming experience.
So how scary is Alan Wake 2? Truth be told, it’s a walk through a slightly spooky park compared to the absolute scariest video games out there.

Alan Wake II is a sequel 13 years in the making. A lot of expectation comes with a wait of that caliber. Developer Remedy has attempted to make the long-awaited sequel numerous times over the past decade, from the spin-off Alan Wake’s American Nightmare to their Xbox exclusive game Quantum Break that began production as an Alan Wake sequel. Alan Wake II has clearly been on Remedy’s mind as much as it’s been on ours, and that labor of love and passion come through in the final product.
Alan Wake II is an absolute enigma of a game. At times it feels like a direct continuation of that story that ended 13 years ago, at times it feels like an absolute reboot that detaches itself for long enough to tell a standalone story, and still other times it feels like one of the most frightening horror games I’ve ever played.

2010’s Alan Wake ends on a cliffhanger. After diving deep into Cauldron Lake to save his wife, Alice, from the Dark Presence that has consumed the town of Bright Falls, Washington, writer Alan Wake realizes something incredible. The power of a realm known as the Dark Place allows him to drastically alter his own reality using only his written words. So great is his ability to do so that he is even able to rescue both his wife and the town of Bright Falls simply by working away at his typewriter.
However, even Wake’s newfound powers have limitations. Despite his best efforts, Wake doesn’t seem to be able to free himself from the Dark Place. Instead, he elects to remain at the bottom of Cauldron Lake where he works on a seemingly neverending story designed to keep the forces of darkness at bay. Right before the credits roll,...

Fortnitemares is back again in Fortnite this year. Alongside the usual Halloween-themed costumes, the annual Halloween event reaches into Haddonfield, Halloweentown and Bright Falls to bring Michael Myers, Jack Skellington and Alan Wake into the fold.
On now until November 2nd, Fortnitemares focuses on vampires this year, with Fortnite players taking on Kado Thorne’s threat with the new Wood Stake Shotgun. Players can also get Thorne’s Vampiric Blade after beating him, which drains energy from the opponents you hit. The Pumpkin Launcher is back, allowing you to launch explosive jack-o’-lanterns, as well as the Witch Broom that can get you out of tough jams by launch you into the air. Players can also partake in the limited-time Horde Rush, which sees you fending off waves of Cube Monsters for rewards.
Obviously, the big news are the new crossover costumes, which will be available in the game’s Item Shop.

IGN continues to drop more Alan Wake 2 clips, with the latest 5-minute gameplay footage seeing Alan Wake meeting up with an old friend.
The clip sees takes place in The Dark Place, a nightmare version of New York, where Alan is currently trapped. He’s not alone, as Alan finds a familiar face in the jacket-wearing, paisley tie-sporting detective Alex Casey, the hero from Wake’s successful crime book series.
Despite being voiced by James McCaffrey and sharing the likeness of Remedy Entertainment’s Creative Director Sam Lake, Alex Casey is not Max Payne (though Max will be getting a revival soon). According to Lake, this version of Casey is “more over-the-top hardboiled” than before. Lake notes that this version of Casey is drawing from the same inspirations and his love for noir as Max Payne did, right down to an outfit “reminiscent of Brad Pitt’s character in the neo-noir film,...

“You left us on quite the cliffhanger,” teases insipid light-night talk show host Mr. Door, as he playfully admonishes his guest for the glacial pace of their output.
Said interviewee happens to be none other than pulpy crime novelist (turned unwitting adversary of evil) Alan Wake, who is more than a little perplexed by the rhetoric of the man sitting across from him.
Befuddlement, of course, is one of Alan’s defining traits and right now he is unable to figure out: A) how he got here in the first place; B) whether he’s already been through this pantomimic ordeal once before; or C) if the studio audience currently snickering away hyena-like in the darkness even exists. More importantly, though, he has no recollection whatsoever of penning another book.
You see, he’s been suffering from crippling writer’s block for the past few years and, as far as he can tell,...

Alan Wake shows itself to be scarier than ever in the sequel Alan Wake 2.
During what was dubbed Opening Night Live at big gaming conference Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, hosted by journalist Geoff Keighley, the Finnish company Remedy Entertainment unveiled a trailer featuring some gameplay snippets from the sequel to a horror video game released in 2010 and taking viewers to the dark place between CG and live action.
“In a horror story, there are only monsters and victims,” says a voiceover. “And the trick is to become neither.” This new, and grim, adventure follows beloved writer Alan Wake, who has disappeared and become trapped in a nightmare in the frightening town of Bright Falls, Washington, where he’s already had paranormal experiences in the first installment of the franchise.
Investigating his disappearance is FBI agent Saga Anderson, who finds herself embroiled in a series of unexplained events — a horror story written by Wake himself.

Remedy and Epic Games made a splash at Gamescom 2023 with a new trailer for Alan Wake 2, focusing on Alan Wake and his living nightmare. Dubbed “The Dark Place”, the trailer is a mix of gameplay footage and live action, and is expectedly trippy.
Alan Wake 2 pushes players into a psychological horror story from the perspective of two playable characters. Saga Anderson risks her life to solve a deadly mystery of murders in the Pacific Northwest, while Alan Wake attempts to rewrite his reality to escape the depths of the Dark Place, a nightmare version of New York City.
Taking full advantage of the power of current consoles and PC, and driven by Remedy Entertainment’s proprietary Northlight engine, players will take on powerful supernatural enemies in desperate situations filled with intense suspense and unexpected twists. Anderson and Wake are two heroes on two desperate journeys in two separate realities, connected...

From Resident Evil 6 to Dead Space 3, multiplayer-focused horror games used to get a bad rap. This makes quite a bit of sense, as it’s hard to sustain interactive scares when players are distracted by their silly friends as they explore a spooky three-dimensional space. That being said, “hard” isn’t the same thing as “impossible,” and in recent years we’ve actually seen quite a few multiplayer horror games that manage to balance cooperative fun with legitimate digital scares.
And while there are plenty of well-known examples of cooperative horror out there (from the Dark Pictures Anthology titles to the recent Evil Dead game), today we’d like to highlight six of the most underrated Co-op horror games for players who have already experienced most of the famous ones. After all, there’s nothing quite like sharing interactive scares with your buddies – be it online or on the couch.
