“Mrs. Davis” will compete for Emmys love in the Limited Series category, but that doesn’t mean the show won’t see a second season.
A source close to the production told TheWrap that creators Damon Lindelof and Tara Hernandez always intended for Season 1 of the genre-bending series to have a “conclusive and satisfying ending” with the finale episode airing Thursday, May 18. The source added that while discussions on a potential second installment have not started, nothing is off the table.

“Mrs. Davis” may be one of the most surprising and unconventional new series of the spring — and now it’s making a surprising and unconventional move in the Emmy race as well. As the Television Academy deadline for category submissions ends today, Peacock has decided to make a last-minute shift and move the series into the limited/anthology series categories.
Betty Gilpin stars in “Mrs. Davis” as Simone, a sometimes nun who takes on her nemesis, the artificial intelligence being known only as “Mrs. Davis,” and strikes a deal with the algorithm — which promises to shut down if Simone finds and destroys the holy grail. This exploration of faith and technology comes from executive producers Tara Hernandez (“The Big Bang Theory”) and Damon Lindelof (“The Leftovers”).

This post contains spoilers for "Mrs. Davis," season 1, episode 5.
It took a few episodes for Peacock's "Mrs. Davis" to loop back around to where it started, but now we're back on the island with Dr. Arthur Schrödinger, and we finally know how his story connects to the quest for the holy grail.
A lot has happened since the "Mrs. Davis" series premiere, when our nun protagonist Simone (Betty Gilpin) came riding in on a horse to thwart the elaborate grifts of Reno magicians. Though he shares the name of a physicist famous for his thought experiment involving a cat, you could be forgiven for almost forgetting Schrödinger. However, for fans of "The Thin Red Line" and other assorted things, the face of Ben Chaplin, the actor playing Schrödinger, may look familiar, even if it's hidden behind a scraggly castaway beard much of the time.

This post contains spoilers through the fifth episode of "Mrs. Davis."
Remember how the first scene in the first episode of "Mrs. Davis" appeared to take place in 1307 where nuns fight off some medieval dudes who are seeking the holy grail? It was an unexpected opening for a show that takes place in the present day and is named after a pervasive algorithm that billions of people follow, but at the end of the show's fourth episode, we find out that the opening sequence of the series is, in the world of "Mrs. Davis," a television commercial for a British Knights sneaker. It's enough to make you think, "What the f*** is going on with this show?"
The show's fifth episode — "A Great Place to Drink to Gain Control of Your Drink" — brings context as to why this shoe commercial exists, and why it's locked up in the Vatican. The...

When accomplished TV writer Damon Lindelof was scanning through a stack of scripts to find a writing partner for his next project, he knew he wanted a scribe with nuts and bolts TV experience. He eventually found that partner in the form of Tara Hernandez, who had worked on traditional TV heavy-hitters like The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon.
Together, Lindelof and Hernandez would go on to create the concept of Peacock‘s wild new sci-fi series Mrs. Davis. But why, exactly, did Lindelof seek a collaborator who knew how to write within a comfortable sitcom format for this ambitious project? Because in order to upend the expectations of television storytelling one has to first master them.
“It does feel a bit non-magical and mundane to break down the fundamental aspects of creativity,” Lindelof told Den of Geek at this year’s SXSW.

Betty Gilpin goes up against Mrs. Davis — the most popular algorithm in the world — in the trailer for her new Peacock series.
In the first official footage of the sci-fi comedy from Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof, the Glow and The Hunt star makes her introduction as Simone, a nun who is given the lofty task of locating the Holy Grail and ends up taking on the all-powerful artificial intelligence known as “Mrs. Davis,” who put Simone on her lofty quest.
In the trailer (above), a skeptical Simone is told she is the only person on the planet who can fulfill the quest of locating the Holy Grail. Along the way, she decides to take a path of resistance. “Mrs. Davis is all knowing and all powerful. She not only knows you are coming for her, but she wants you to,” Gilpin is warned.

You are not a robot, and a computer is not your boss. “Mrs. Davis” is here to remind you of that. Peacock’s upcoming sci-fi dramedy got an exciting and funny new trailer on Tuesday that will make you want to smash your phone and throw it in a river to free yourself from the tyranny of the algorithm.
“Mrs. Davis” stars Emmy nominee Betty Gilpin (“Glow”) as Sister Simone, a nun whose calling is to fight for humanity against the titular Mrs. Davis, an all-powerful artificial intelligence with nefarious intentions. It’s all too easy for it to get humans to hand over their free will. Mrs. Davis is it, not her; it’s important to avoid anthropomorphizing a computer program, as characters remind each other in the trailer. “Don’t give it a name,” an angry Australian man tells Simone. “No one calls Facebook ‘Doug.’”

Sci-fi writer Damon Lindelof has made quite the name for himself since he's arrived on the scene, tackling incredibly popular material such as the hit show "Lost", Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequel "Prometheus," and most recently HBO's brilliant sequel series "Watchmen." Should anyone still be on the fence about Lindelof's talents after some high-profile misses like "Cowboys & Aliens," "Star Trek Into Darkness," and 2015's "Tomorrowland," well, I implore you to check out his work on "The Leftovers," which has earned him the benefit of the doubt for the foreseeable future as far as I'm concerned.
The next item on Lindelof's agenda, however, appears both of a piece and miles apart from his previous output. Peacock suddenly seems like the belle of the streaming wars ball, riding high off the success of Rian Johnson's "Poker Face" series. Now, the streaming service is partnering up with Lindelof on its most out-there premise yet.

On the heels of “Poker Face,” Peacock is back with another hotly anticipated, highly promising dramedy that’s something like a high-end version of a broadcast procedural. Spiritually minded sci-fi series “Mrs. Davis” comes to the streaming service on April 20. Peacock released the series’ first teaser trailer on Wednesday.
The teaser features a number of people all over the world handing other people airpods and saying, “She wants to talk to you.” The call is coming at an inconvenient time for some of these people, like a comedian during her set and a bride during her wedding, but everyone is ecstatic to hear from this mysterious lady. At the end of the teaser, the letters “AI” briefly appear on a black title screen, then the rest of the title flashes into focus: “Mrs. Davis.” That’s her. She’s an artificial intelligence with a sinister plot to enslave humanity, one gamified,...

It's a unique hook, but it doesn't give us any insight into what to expect when the series gets underway next month.
Mrs. Davis is described as "an exploration of faith versus technology — an epic battle of biblical and binary proportions."
Betty Gilpin stars alongside Jake McDorman and Andy McQueen as Simone, a nun who goes to battle against an all-powerful Artificial Intelligence known as "Mrs. Davis."

If there’s one thing that Damon Lindelof is known for, it’s making really great shows that can also get really, really weird. And based on the latest teaser released Wednesday, his new Peacock show “Mrs. Davis” looks like it might be the “Leftovers” and “Watchmen” creator’s most oddball project yet.
Co-created by Lindelof and “The Big Bang Theory” and “Young Sheldon” writer Tara Hernandez, “Mrs. Davis” stars “Glow” alum Betty Gilpin not as the title character but as Simone, a nun who is dead set on defeating the title character, who happens to be a powerful Artificial Intelligence program slowly taking over the entire world. Jake McDorman co-stars with Gilpin as Simone’s ex-boyfriend, rodeo cowboy Wiley, but neither actor makes an appearance in the 30-second teaser which, according to Peacock, does not consist of any actual footage from the show.

Peacock released a teaser trailer for the new Damon Lindelof series “Mrs. Davis,” introducing the world’s most powerful artificial intelligence of the same name.
In the 30-second clip, no footage from the actual series is shown. Instead, various people around the world walk up to another person – in a town square, at a wedding, in the middle of a stand-up comedy show – and say, “She wants to talk to you.”
The “she” in question is Mrs. Davis herself, in the form of an AirPod-like earpiece. After accepting the earpiece, which they always do, the people look thrilled, shocked and/or excited.
The high-concept series from the creator of “Lost,” “The Leftovers” and “Watchmen” stars Betty Gilpin (“Glow”) as Simone, a nun whose mission is to destroy Mrs. Davis. Jake McDorman (“Dopesick”) and Andy McQueen (“Station Eleven”) co-star in what has been described as a “wildly original and genre-bending journey.

Mystery-thriller “Dark” handed Netflix one of its first big international hits, while announcing German creators Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese as potential masters of the atmospheric puzzle-show.
The pair’s latest, “1899,” presents an even more elaborate conundrum, expanding outwards from its escape-room opening: a blanched heroine (Emily Beecham) awaking in a cabin of the Kerberos, a steamer carrying immigrants to the New World. Armchair detectives will already be noting the woman’s bruised wrists, the postcard on her dresser, the newspaper reporting a vanished ship with an equally suggestive name. Critics were left scrambling for the middling-to-long list of spoilers Netflix’s PR team were keen for us to avoid.
If “Dark” was “Twin Peaks” without the goofiness, then “1899” risks synopsis – and simplification – as “Lost” on the high seas. In fact, this is several shows at once, and part of the puzzle lies in figuring out which one it wants to be.

Hailing from Dark creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, 1899 is a suitably creepy and mysterious period thriller about a missing (possibly haunted) ship. The eight-episode Netflix series is a combination of the first season of The Terror and Ghost Ship with a splash of Downton Abbey.
The series opens with a nightmare as Maura Franklin (Emily Beechum), an English doctor, awakens from a dream where she’s threatened by a mysterious man shrouded in shadows. Immediately upon exiting her room it’s clear that she’s already onboard a ship, crossing the ocean to New York like her brother Henry. He and more than a thousand other people have been missing for four months since something happened to the Prometheus, a sister ship to the one Maura is on. Her only hint of what happened is a letter addressed to Henry asking him to come to New York as quickly as possible.

If you were a fan of Netflix’s Dark, then the next mind-bending series from creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar looks to be right up your alley. Netflix has released another trailer for 1899, a mystery series which follows the passengers of an immigrant ship encountering the biggest mystery of their lives on their journey across the cast and treacherous Atlantic Ocean.
Set against Jimi Hendrix’s cover of All Along the Watchtower, the 1899 trailer looks like a wild ride, full of disturbing imagery and mysteries just begging to be solved. Baran bo Odar has previously teased that 1899 will be unlike Dark in a lot of ways. “Dark was not about action at all, but this is really an action show, with a lot of violence, beating, running, screaming,” Odar said. “I think it’s going to be exciting to watch with the audience [to see] if they love this new puzzle too,...

Are you ready to take a terrifying trip on the high seas? Hot off the heels of its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, the latest series from "Dark" creators Jante Friese and Baran bo Odar is about to set sail onto Netflix. "1899" has a seemingly straightforward premise, centering around a group of migrants sailing to New York City in the titular year. However, their voyage won't be smooth, as an abandoned migrant ship called the Prometheus crossing their path houses more secrets than anyone could expect. As the trailer showcases, this encounter has many grave consequences that go far beyond anyone's comprehension.
Of course, there is undoubtedly a lot about the show that this new trailer is hiding. Nevertheless, it already looks to be a chilling look at immigration, prejudice, and the innate fear of the unknown. If it is just as effective as "Dark" was with its heavy themes,...

Netflix has dropped the new trailer for 1899, the hotly anticipated new mystery horror series from the makers of Dark.
And it is really weird.
The first Dark trailer, which Netflix released in June, set the stage for the show: we’re on an immigrant steamer traveling to the “new world,” filled with people who are all “running away from something.” En route, they encounter a mysterious second ship, the Prometheus, which has been missing for months, adrift on the open sea. So far so strange.

It’s about to get weird, again.
Two years after the third and final season of their global Netflix hit Dark, the twisted minds of German showrunner Jantje Friese and director/producer Baran bo Odar are back, with 1899.
Netflix just dropped the first trailer for the new series, which, by the looks of it, will be spawning Dark levels of online theories and speculation as to what exactly is going on.
We are on an immigrant steamer ship traveling from Europe to New York at the turn of the last century. On board are passengers from all different backgrounds and nationalities, united, in the words of one, by the fact “they are all running away from something.”
But when the group encounters a second ship, the Prometheus, missing for months, adrift on the open sea, their trip takes on a horrific turn.

"No matter how hard I fight... I die. Every. Single. Day." Hulu has released their official US trailer for the action thriller Boss Level, another time loop sci-fi film borrowing the genre concept. This is the latest from action filmmaker Joe Carnahan, who hasn't made a new film since Stretch back in 2014. Frank Grillo stars in this as a retired special forces officer who is trapped in a never ending time loop on the day of his death. He must figure out how to escape the sinister program and save his own life, but of course. The excellent ensemble cast includes Annabelle Wallis, Mel Gibson, Naomi Watts, Michelle Yeoh, Will Sasso, Rob Gronkowski, Ken Jeong, Mathilde Ollivier, and Selina Lo. This is a much better trailer than the first one, and sets up the action and the stakes with much more gusto. I'm down for some fresh new Joe Carnahan...

This looks like some vintage action movie fun, exactly what I'd expect from Carnahan. I just hope it's worth...

Stars: Alicia Silverstone, Tom Everett Scott, Jake Hoffman, Mathilde Ollivier | Written and Directed by Amy Miller Gross
Changing lanes for a minute in my viewing pleasure, I decided to sit down and a watch a rom-com with my wife and it has to be said – with none other than Alicia Silverstone and Tom Everett Scott starring – it felt like my 90s nostalgia none was going to be tickled. We were also optimistic that with the title of Sister of the Groom we may get some Father of the Bride vibes… We did not! Though thankfully Tom Everett Scott did enough in the first 10 minutes of this film to kept me watching to the end.
I do find myself wondering how I actually feel about the film though – its very much a middle-of-the-road rom-com, with Alicia Silverstone doing her best Drew Barrymore homage in Sister of the Groom, aka The Pleasure of Your Presence.
