The British Independent Film Awards has selected 17 producers to participate in its Springboard programme assisting filmmakers beyond their first feature.
They include Savannah James-Bayly, producer of Amrou Al-Kadhi’s Layla through her company Fox Cub Films. James-Bayly also runs Teen Club with Loran Dunn and Sorcha Bacon, with the company focusing on commercial, positive, queer content for young audiences.
Nisha Mullea, executive producer at Caviar London, is also selected, having recently produced Sasha Nathwani’s Last Swim, winner of the Crystal Bear for best feature film in the Generation 14plus section at the Berlinale.

Molly Manning Walker’s How To Have Sex and Ken Loach’s final film The Old Oak are among the 13 titles that received cash awards through the BFI’s Global Screen Fund.
The BFI announced the full list of recipients who received support from the £7m per year fund this afternoon. The list also includes the Cannes Competiton title Club Zero, starring Mia Wasikowska, and In Camera, written and directed by Naqqash Khalid, which screened at Karlovy Vary. Exclusive: British genre specialist Tea Shop, known for 47 Meters Down and coming off breakout thriller Fall, is lining up its next survival pic in the shape of The Bayou, which Architect is launching for sales in Cannes.
The movie, also produced by fledgling UK outfit Cowboy Cosmonaut, crash-lands a group of friends in the water-logged, inhospitable Louisiana swamplands where they’re hunted by a fearsome, primordial apex predator.
Megan Best (Seance) leads the unfortunate survivors, out of their depth, who are picked off one-by-one by a relentless pack of gators, led by a ferocious alpha female. Filming is being lined up for Q4, 2023.

New sales agent and financier Architect has come on board to represent international sales on writer-director Laurel Parmet’s Sundance-premiering “The Starling Girl.”
The film was acquired for North America by Bleecker Street in a deal negotiated by UTA and WME, and will release in cinemas later this year. Architect will launch international sales at this week’s European Film Market, which runs alongside the Berlin Film Festival.
