ABC is passing on its pilots.
The network has passed on Anthony Anderson-fronted Public Defenders and Ellie Kemper-led Keeping It Together, which is a remake of British comedy Motherland, as well as dramas The Hurt Unit, starring Melissa George and Ben McKenzie, and Judgement starring Sex/Life’s Sarah Shahi.
ABC Signature is, however, planning to shop The Hurt Unit to other networks and platforms, while 20th Television will be shopping Public Defenders and Judgement.
The move comes as it still has decisions to make on series Home Economics and The Rookie: Feds as well as The Good Lawyer, which was a backdoor pilot spinoff of The Good Doctor.
Last month, ABC handed a series order to Drew Goddard’s pilot High Potential, starring Kaitlin Olson. The project, which is based on the popular French detective series Hip, was the clear front-runner all development season.

[Editor’s Note: The following interview contains spoilers for the “Mrs. Davis” series finale — Episode 8, “The Final Intercut: So I’m Your Horse” — including the ending.]
Throughout “Mrs. Davis,” the titular app out to save or destroy mankind is never thoroughly explained. We know it’s relied upon by billions of users worldwide. We know it’s a piece of artificial intelligence so advanced it appears all-knowing and all-powerful. We know many consider it responsible for ending wars and famines, we know it grants wishes, and we know its ultimate gift is a pair of digital wings, which anoint the angelic owners as top-tier users.
What we don’t know is where it came from, who made it, or what it was made to do. Given everything else going on during the first seven episodes of “Mrs. Davis” — a quest for the Holy Grail, episode-long flashbacks about a sneaker commercial, this guy, this other guy, and that whole thing with...

"Mrs. Davis" is built on a wild premise that somehow manages to only get crazier as the show goes on. The series tells the story of a nun named Simone (Betty Gilpin) determined to destroy an all-powerful artificial intelligence - and along the way, she finds herself tasked with finding and destroying the Holy Grail itself. From the get-go, the show promises a fantastic and chaotic ride, but even the most imaginative viewer (or advanced AI) probably couldn't have dreamed up what actually happens in the show's eighth and final episode.
Over the course of the show, Simone has been trying to find the Holy Grail because Mrs. Davis, the artificial intelligence in question, told her to. In exchange for the Grail, Mrs. Davis promises to grant Simone one wish. Simone has a vendetta against Mrs. Davis because she believes the algorithm killed her father, a magician, so she becomes...

In the first official footage of the sci-fi comedy from Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof, the Glow and The Hunt star makes her introduction as Simone, a nun who is given the lofty task of locating the Holy Grail and ends up taking on the all-powerful artificial intelligence known as “Mrs. Davis,” who put Simone on her lofty quest.
In the trailer (above), a skeptical Simone is told she is the only person on the planet who can fulfill the quest of locating the Holy Grail. You are not a robot, and a computer is not your boss. “Mrs. Davis” is here to remind you of that. Peacock’s upcoming sci-fi dramedy got an exciting and funny new trailer on Tuesday that will make you want to smash your phone and throw it in a river to free yourself from the tyranny of the algorithm.
“Mrs. Davis” stars Emmy nominee Betty Gilpin (“Glow”) as Sister Simone, a nun whose calling is to fight for humanity against the titular Mrs. Davis, an all-powerful artificial intelligence with nefarious intentions. It’s all too easy for it to get humans to hand over their free will. Mrs. Davis is it, not her; it’s important to avoid anthropomorphizing a computer program, as characters remind each other in the trailer. “Don’t give it a name,” an angry Australian man tells Simone. “No one calls Facebook ‘Doug.’”

Sci-fi writer Damon Lindelof has made quite the name for himself since he's arrived on the scene, tackling incredibly popular material such as the hit show "Lost", Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequel "Prometheus," and most recently HBO's brilliant sequel series "Watchmen." Should anyone still be on the fence about Lindelof's talents after some high-profile misses like "Cowboys & Aliens," "Star Trek Into Darkness," and 2015's "Tomorrowland," well, I implore you to check out his work on "The Leftovers," which has earned him the benefit of the doubt for the foreseeable future as far as I'm concerned.
The next item on Lindelof's agenda, however, appears both of a piece and miles apart from his previous output. Peacock suddenly seems like the belle of the streaming wars ball, riding high off the success of Rian Johnson's "Poker Face" series. Now, the streaming service is partnering up with Lindelof on its most out-there premise yet.

Betty Gilpin starred in the thriller The Hunt, which was co-written by Damon Lindelof, and now she and Lindelof have teamed up again for the Peacock streaming service series Mrs. Davis, which is set to make its premiere on April 20th. According to Deadline, “the teaser is described as a high concept featurette that introduces Mrs. Davis to viewers and invites them to join her quest. The 30-second clip appears to show people from across the globe being handed an earpiece as someone tells them ‘she wants to talk to you.’“

On the heels of “Poker Face,” Peacock is back with another hotly anticipated, highly promising dramedy that’s something like a high-end version of a broadcast procedural. Spiritually minded sci-fi series “Mrs. Davis” comes to the streaming service on April 20. Peacock released the series’ first teaser trailer on Wednesday.
The teaser features a number of people all over the world handing other people airpods and saying, “She wants to talk to you.” The call is coming at an inconvenient time for some of these people, like a comedian during her set and a bride during her wedding, but everyone is ecstatic to hear from this mysterious lady. At the end of the teaser, the letters “AI” briefly appear on a black title screen, then the rest of the title flashes into focus: “Mrs. Davis.” That’s her. If there’s one thing that Damon Lindelof is known for, it’s making really great shows that can also get really, really weird. And based on the latest teaser released Wednesday, his new Peacock show “Mrs. Davis” looks like it might be the “Leftovers” and “Watchmen” creator’s most oddball project yet.
Co-created by Lindelof and “The Big Bang Theory” and “Young Sheldon” writer Tara Hernandez, “Mrs. Davis” stars “Glow” alum Betty Gilpin not as the title character but as Simone, a nun who is dead set on defeating the title character, who happens to be a powerful Artificial Intelligence program slowly taking over the entire world. Jake McDorman co-stars with Gilpin as Simone’s ex-boyfriend, rodeo cowboy Wiley, but neither actor makes an appearance in the 30-second teaser which, according to Peacock, does not consist of any actual footage from the show.

Peacock released a teaser trailer for the new Damon Lindelof series “Mrs. Davis,” introducing the world’s most powerful artificial intelligence of the same name.
In the 30-second clip, no footage from the actual series is shown. Instead, various people around the world walk up to another person – in a town square, at a wedding, in the middle of a stand-up comedy show – and say, “She wants to talk to you.”
The “she” in question is Mrs. Davis herself, in the form of an AirPod-like earpiece. After accepting the earpiece, which they always do, the people look thrilled, shocked and/or excited.
The high-concept series from the creator of “Lost,” “The Leftovers” and “Watchmen” stars Betty Gilpin (“Glow”) as Simone, a nun whose mission is to destroy Mrs. Davis. Jake McDorman (“Dopesick”) and Andy McQueen (“Station Eleven”) co-star in what has been described as a “wildly original and genre-bending journey.

Exclusive: Ashley Romans (Y: The Last Man) has been cast as a series regular opposite Ben McKenzie, Melissa George, Michelle Ortiz and Augustus Prew in ABC’s medical drama pilot The Hurt Unit. She replaces Bull alumna Jaime Lee Kirchner who had been originally cast in the pilot, written by Matt Lopez and John Glenn and to be directed by Marc Webb.
According to sources, Kirchner exited over creative differences during production. Her scenes will be reshot with Romans. While unfortunate, recastings are relatively common and a part of the pilot process.
The Hurt Unit follows a highly skilled team of trauma surgeons and nurses led by Danny (McKenzie), a self-made surgeon, who race into the field to treat the patients who won’t make it to the hospital in time. When the sick and the injured can’t get to the ER, the Hurt Unit (Hospital Urgent Response Team) brings the ER to them.

John Landgraf, the chairman of FX, says he canceled “Y: The Last Man” after just one season because “its audience decline was really, really, really steep.”
“One of the key things we assess — and we have assessed for as long as we’ve been doing this — is the trajectory of a television show across a season from its first to its last episode,” Landgraf said of the one-and-done FX on Hulu series.
“I really loved ‘Y: The Last Man’ personally…but I will tell you that its audience decline was really, really, really steep,” he added. “And ultimately that’s what made us go that direction.”
TheWrap reached out to FX to request a look at those audience declines, but we did not immediately hear back. The show only streamed on Hulu, which makes viewership numbers harder to come by.

"So many of you have been so supportive of the show, and I am so grateful to you,” she continued.
“I love the group of artists who made Y truly, madly, deeply. It was the best creative work environment I’ve ever been a part of."
"I am immensely proud of the work that we did… I hope you will still watch the show. That you’ll still tell your friends to watch it.

For fans of Y: The Last Man, it’s truly the end of their world. Showrunner/EP Eliza Clark has posted that the dystopian drama hasn’t been able to find new distribution.
“For those of you who have been asking me: we tried really hard to get another platform to pick up season 2 of Y,” Clark wrote on Twitter. “But sadly, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. It is always incredibly difficult to move a show, and in recent years, it has only gotten harder.”
Y: The Last Man is a post-apocalyptic drama developed by Clark based on the comic book series of the same name by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra. In the series, a cataclysmic event decimates everyone but one cisgender male, Yorick Brown (Ben Schnetzer), and his pet monkey. The series follows the survivors in this new world as they struggle...

Where to Watch ‘Y: The Last Man’: Hulu
Sometimes, the world ends on TV at a gradual pace. Things start to turn bad bit by bit until very little seems recognizable. But “Y: The Last Man” didn’t so much boil slowly the proverbial frog as much as it flash seared it in a giant pool of lava.
2021 was a pandemic year on screen, too, as evidenced by the ever-growing roster of shows charting the arrival and aftermath of a mysterious virus. The end of the “Y: The Last Man” premiere has maybe the most brutal depiction of one of those biological forces ripping through society. There’s barely a chance for overseas rumblings to make it back to the Presidential stronghold before people in the room start dropping to swift, bloody deaths.

Y: The Last Man has been canceled by FX on Hulu, executive producer Eliza Clark announced via Twitter on Sunday.
In a statement, Clark wrote, “We have learned that we will not be moving forward with FX on Hulu for Season 2 of Y: The Last Man. I have never in my life been more committed to a story, and there is so much left to tell… We don’t want it to end.”
“FX has been an amazing partner. We have loved working with them, and we’re sad Y: The Last Man is not going forward at FX on Hulu. But we know that someone else is going to be very lucky to have this team and this story. I never experienced the remarkable solidarity of this many talented people. We are committed to finding Y its next home. #YLivesOn,” Clark added.
The news of cancellation comes weeks before the season 1 finale on Nov.
