“The Goldbergs” has been renewed for Season 10 at ABC.
However, questions still remain about how the single-camera comedy series will handle Jeff Garlin’s character, Murray Goldberg, going into the new season.
Garlin exited “The Goldbergs” in December following an investigation into the comedian’s onset behavior after he was accused of misconduct. Variety exclusively reported that Garlin would still be a part of Season 9 through the use of off-camera dialogue pulled from earlier episodes and unused takes, as well as previously shot images of Garlin.
According to an individual with knowledge of the production, official plans for Garlin’s character are forthcoming, but it is likely that he will be written off the show.
“The Goldbergs” remains one of ABC’s more popular shows even this late in its run. Season to date, the show is averaging a 0.8 rating in adults 18-49 and just over 4 million viewers per episode in the Nielsen Live+7 ratings.

ABC today announced premiere dates for its Wednesday primetime comedy block.
Hooray, right?
Some original scripted shows will be on the network this October.
The Goldbergs, The Conners, and black-ish are set to make their returns October 21, while American Housewife will join the comedy lineup on Oct. 28.
Dates for network scripted dramas, including Grey's Anatomy and The Good Doctor, will be announced soon. Dates for unscripted series were previously announced.
"We couldn’t be more excited to spread some much-needed joy with our Wednesday night comedy lineup,” said Karey Burke, president, ABC Entertainment.
“While we had to be incredibly flexible this year, we are so lucky that we’re able to continue our long tradition of making Wednesday night comedy a strong staple of our fall broadcast schedule.”
Most recently, ABC claimed 3 of the Top 4 comedies last season in Adults 18-49, Modern Family (1.6/8) – No. 1 (tie), The Conners (1.5/8) – No. 3 and The Goldbergs (1.3/6) – No.

John Oates, one half of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Hall & Oates, is part of one of the most robust catalogs in modern pop music, spanning six No. 1 singles and 16 top 10s. He also happened to sport music’s most iconic ‘80s mustache.
So it was only a matter of time that both of those traits would eventually find their way into ABC’s ‘80s-themed sitcom “The Goldbergs,” currently airing its seventh season. As seen in this exclusive clip premiering below, Oates will guest star on next Wednesday (April 22)’s episode (titled “Oates & Oates”) as a janitor who shows up just after Barry Goldberg (Troy Gentile)’s failed attempts to book Hall & Oates for a two-day Earth Day Telethon in an effort to impress his love interest Ren (Kelli Berglund.)

The Goldbergs will pay homage to the classic 1983 film National Lampoon’s Vacation in its annual fall tribute premiere episode on September 25. Christie Brinkley and Anthony Michael Hall have been tapped to guest star in the episode.
In “Vacation”, Beverly (Wendi McClendon-Covey) insists the family take a road trip to go on vacation to Disneyland in Anaheim, California, before Erica (Hayley Orrantia) and Barry (Troy Gentile) go off to college. But, like the film, things do not go as planned as they travel across the country. Meanwhile, Erica worries more and more about her relationship with Geoff (Sam Lerner) when he teases “we need to talk” and won’t tell her anything until the family returns from their adventure.
Hall and Brinkley will guest star in roles to be announced at a later date.

Lainey Lewis, consider yourself Schooled on the ABC’s of being a good teacher.
Wednesday’s premiere of the ’90s-set Goldbergs spinoff stars Aj Michalka as Barry Goldberg’s ex-fiancée, who’s gone from college dropout/wannabe rock star to music teacher at her old high school William Penn Academy. (The career detour comes courtesy of credit card debt and broken dreams.) Of course, Lainey doesn’t have the experience or credentials to be an educator, but she does have Beverly Goldberg on her side. The smother basically pesters Principal Glascott (The Goldbergs‘ Tim Meadows) into giving Lainey the job.

Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings today announced that it will release a new compilation of Bob Dylan recordings, “Live 1962 – 1966: Rare Performances from The Copyright Collections,” on July 27, digitally and on CD.
Most of the performances on the album have been previously available only on the extremely limited edition “50th Anniversary / Copyright Extension” albums, three highly-collectible compilations of rare early Dylan recordings released in 2012, 2013 and 2014 in order to prevent the recordings from becoming public domain; the relevant copyright laws have since been changed.
The album features recordings from the artist’s coffeehouse era, his 1963 breakout concerts at New York’s Town Hall and Carnegie Hall, a duet with Joan Baez from the historic March on Washington, performances from his European and world tours of 1965 and 1966 (backed by members of The Band), selections from the 1964 and 1965 Newport Folk Festivals and more.
