With a lawsuit and the return of his old friend Sully, Chicago Med‘s Mitch Ripley has plenty of reasons to be on edge in this Wednesday’s episode (NBC, 8/7c).

Can Maggie Lockwood save the day again? The next new episode of Chicago Med will test her skills as she tries to save a co-worker.
The TV promo for Chicago Med Season 9, Episode 10 hints that a doctor could die. It’s a big tease, especially since it involves someone who has become a fan favorite.
The show is also returning to a familiar storyline, where a helicopter goes down that is carrying some primary characters.
Chicago Med Season 4, Episode 12 also dealt with a Medevac helicopter crash. The episode was called The Things We Do, and Dr. Natalie Manning had to be saved.
Chicago Fire fans also saw a helicopter crash in Season 3, Episode 8. That installment was called Chopper, and it took everyone from Firehouse 51 to save a neighborhood where the helicopter crashed.

The new episode of Chicago Med brought back Dr. Margo Collins.
A party was being held to celebrate Sean Archer (played by Luigi Sottile) reaching one year of sobriety.
Dr. Collins was there to help Sean, his father, Dean, and friends from the hospital celebrate the milestone.
This is the second episode that Dr. Collins has appeared in.
She was also in Chicago Med Season 9, Episode 5, introducing herself as the head of a clinic where Sean now works.
It might be amusing to some Chicago Med fans to learn that this is the third episode for the actress, as she played a different character a few years back.
Who plays Dr. Margo Collins on the Chicago Med cast?
Actress Beth Lacke guest-starred in the new episode, reprising her role as Dr. Margo Collins.

A new episode of Chicago Med debuts on Wednesday night, with the plot revolving around the transplant surgery for Dr. Dean Archer.
Archer has been dealing with kidney failure, but a donor finally surfaced in the form of his son. Now, his son is ready to give his father one of his kidneys.
But it wouldn’t be a One Chicago show without an episode where something threatened to take away that kidney.
Actor Steven Weber joined the Chicago Med cast in 2021, bringing energy on the opposite end of the spectrum from other Ed doctors.
Archer came over from the military and had a friendship with Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee).
The first Chicago Med Season 9 episode brought everyone up to speed on Archer’s predicament, introduced a new cast member, and revealed Dr. Daniel Charles has ties to the new guy.

It’s been a long wait for NBC’s Chicago Med to return with its 9th Season but with the premiere less than a week away (January 17), Deadline has some juicy nuggets to tease about the show’s return.
In the Season 8 finale, the medical drama said goodbye to Day 1-er Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) who handed in his resignation after finding himself more and more unsettled with the new changes implemented at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center following Jack Dayton’s purchase of the hospital. His main concern was Dayton’s insistence on using the O.R. 2.0. even after a machine error caused the death of a patient and could’ve also claimed Dayton’s life.
Dayton’s live surgery for investors cost him nearly all his money after showing the high-tech machine wasn’t ready for showtime. So to stay afloat financially, Dayton sells the hospital.

There's never a dull moment on Chicago Med, but the NBC drama will open its doors to someone with ties to one of the show's longest-serving cast members.
TVLine reports that the series is eyeing "an early thirtysomething male Emergency Department doctor."
The mystery individual will have a connection with Dr. Charles (played by Oliver Platt).
Initially, the new character will be a recurring player, but as we've seen in the past, people tend to get upgraded to series regular status if they resonate with viewers.
The unnamed new addition "comes from a troubled background, which led him to cross paths with Dr. Charles when he was growing up."
Like other long-running series, Chicago Med has lost its fair share of cast members throughout the years, but Chicago Med Season 8 wrote out many ongoing cast members.

NBC’s Chicago P.D. Season 11 is hopefully coming soon, though the season’s experiencing severe delays due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. While writers and actors continue to strike for fair pay and better working conditions, fans wonder when new episodes of their favorite shows will premiere. So, when will Chicago P.D. When it comes to Chicago Med‘s Dr. Will Halstead, “one thing’s for sure: You can count on Will having money problems and relationship problems,” his portrayer Nick Gehlfuss says.
The doc was recently dealt a monetary blow when the apartment building he owns caught fire, but it’s Will’s often messy and complicated love life, first with Dr. Natalie Manning and now Dr. Hannah Asher, that has plagued the character for several seasons. Despite that, Gehlfuss believes that “Will wants to settle down in a way,” the actor tells TVLine’s Keisha Hatchett during a recent #OneChicago Day press junket.

There was some definite concern on the part of Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) while Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) was dealing with the effects of the fire (and her addiction) in the Chicago Med Season 8 premiere, but what exactly will we see between them going forward? Well, they did say they were going to start over and give each other a clean slate, and according to Gehlfuss and Schram, they’re sticking to that. After the premiere, we’ll see a bit of “space” between the two, Gehlfuss said during a junket to kick off One Chicago’s new seasons. “I’m finding it really interesting to see Hannah become her own character outside of Will in a way.” Still, “there’s history there that regardless if they’re starting over, it’s always going to be just bubbling under the surface.” But he also pointed out, “It’s...

The Chicago Med season premiere got right into the action, revealing what happened in Halstead’s apartment building after the fire started.
At the end of last season, Milena Jovanovic (the undercover cop) was being hidden by Dr. Dylan Scott in the renovated apartment building that Halstead now owns.
Criminals that Jo was hiding from descended upon the building, setting it on fire while Jo, Scott, Halstead, and Hannah Asher were all still inside. Then, Jo and one of the men got shot, increasing the drama as the show went into its summer hiatus.
Chicago Med Season 8, Episode 1 picked up right at the fire, with Halstead and Scott trying to save the life of the man who had been shot. Meanwhile, Jo, who had also been shot, went out another exit to find safety.

Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points from the Season 8 premiere of NBC’s Chicago Med.
NBC’s Chicago Med returned for its eighth season tonight and while there will be a sad goodbye said to a series regular, there was also a shocking return in the final beats of the episode worthy of celebration.
And so is the life of emergency service workers—unpredictable and often complicated and tough. But as the seasons unfold, what’s always certain is that Gaffney Chicago Medical Center knows how to always bring on the drama.
The episode picks up moments later from the Season 7 finale that saw Will Halstead’s (Nick Gehlfuss) apartment building ablaze endangering him, Dylan Scott (Guy Lockard), Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram), and Dylan’s love interest Milena/Jo (Riley Voelkel), among others.
All four make it to the ER but not everyone is in good shape. Milena/Jo,...

Chicago Med returns with the Season 8 premiere on September 21, and there is a lot of ground to cover.
The show packed in many stories for its Season 7 finale last fall, forcing the writers to deal with a lot of fallout as the show returns.
As has become a regular occurrence with the show, there will also be a few new faces getting introduced along the way.
The biggest cliffhanger that the Chicago Med writers have to resolve is what happened with that fire at the apartment building of Will Halstead.
Dr. Dylan Scott was hiding undercover officer Jo in an unfinished part of Halstead’s building, but things got complicated as he worked to help her get out of town.
While Scott tried to get her out, people connected to the drug case she...

Dr. Hannah Asher will officially be back within the hallways of Chicago Med in this Wednesday’s episode (NBC, 8/7c), and her reunion with ex-boyfriend Dr. Will Halstead will be a challenging one for both parties.
As viewers will recall, Hannah left the Windy City to enter rehab in the Season 6 premiere. When Hannah invited Will to join her in Los Angeles, he argued that he couldn’t be the reason she stayed sober, so the couple split up. But now that Hannah is back as the emergency department’s Ob-gyn specialist (and her portrayer Jessy Schram is a series...

Chicago Med is saying goodbye to a fan favorite.
Kristen Hager is exiting the NBC after just half a season as a series regular.
Hager starred as Dr. Stevie Hammer, and her storyline seemingly concluded on Chicago Med Season 7 Episode 14.
If you watch Chicago Med online, you know Steve chose to move back to Michigan to save her marriage with her estranged husband.
The series had heavily teased a pairing for Stevie and Will (Nick Gehlfuss), but it appears the door is not closing on a potential pairing down the line.
“We all really liked Kristen and would welcome her character coming back in the future,” show EPs Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider explained to Deadline in a joint statement.
It's certainly a shocker to add someone as a series regular, only to wrap up their storyline halfway through, but maybe there were some changes behind-the-scenes.

Kristen Hager is departing from NBC medical drama Chicago Med, but executive producers Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider are leaving the door open for a return.
“We all really liked Kristen and would welcome her character coming back in the future,” Frolov and Schneider tells Deadline in a joint statement.
Hager, who portrayed Dr. Stevie Hammer, joined the cast as a series regular for Season 7 following the departure of Yaya DaCosta and Torrey DeVitto. Her final appearance was in episode 14 titled “All The Things That Could’ve Happened.”
It was recently revealed that Steven Weber, who was upgraded to a series regular at the same time Hager joined the cast, would return as Dr. Dean Archer next season.
Also shaking things up is the return of Jessie Schram as Dr. Hannah Asher, Will Halstead’s (Nick Gehlfuss) love interest who struggled with drug addiction. She is two years clean and...

Steven Weber will be back on Chicago Med for the upcoming eighth season of the NBC medical drama. Weber, who portrays Dr. Dean Archer, joined as a recurring in the sixth season and was upped to series regular for Season 7 in a one-year deal. He has closed a new deal and will return as a series regular in Season 8.
Weber’s Dr. Dean Archer is current head of the E.D., whose colleagues at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center love to hate—though they can’t deny he’s a great surgeon. That dislike stems from three things: playing a role in fan-favorite Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) getting shot in the Season 6 finale which helped him climb the ranks; his tendency to break the rules in order to get the job done; and his antagonistic approach to dealing with patients.
Of late, Archer is proving how coloring outside the lines can also be helpful.

Dr. Hannah Asher is making a comeback as Jessy Schram has returned to NBC’s Chicago Med as a series regular. As seen at the end of Wednesday night’s episode, “May Your Choices Reflect Hope, Not Fear,” Hannah made her surprise reappearance as she took a new job at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center’s new emergency Obgyn service. Despite Hannah’s troubled past, Dr. Archer (Steven Weber) decided to give her a second chance. Schram first appeared in the 12th episode of season five and was last seen in the Season 6 premiere. Her character battled with heroin addiction, which she hid from her colleagues. She was eventually arrested and placed into rehab. As of Season 7, Hannah is now two years sober and looking for a fresh start. Her character also had a romantic relationship with Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) during her previous stint on the show. But things...

Exclusive: Jessy Schram is returning to NBC‘s Chicago Med in the role of Dr. Hannah Asher as a series regular. Schram made her One Chicago debut in Season 5 Episode 12 and was last seen in the Season 6 premiere.
Hannah made her shocking return in the final beats of tonight’s episode, “May Your Choices Reflect Hope, Not Fear,” an appropriate message for someone who is now two years sober and ready for a fresh start. Thanks to her guardian angel Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson), her fresh start includes a new job at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center’s new emergency Obgyn service.
Although Dr. Archer (Steven Weber) wasn’t too sure about welcoming Hannah back into the fold—with good reason—but ultimately decided to give her a second chance. If anyone knows about the benefit of second chances, it’s Archer.
The new job is a perfect next step for Hannah,...
