Every day when we log on to Instagram, X (formerly known as Twitter), Reddit, or any other social media platform, we see hundreds of posts obsessing over a celebrity. While it's fine to praise an artist and share their work online, the moment the online fangirling ends and the offline stalking begins, it gets serious.
Baby Reindeer has impressed so many viewers with its realistic portrayal of the horrors associated with stalking. Both Richard Gadd, who wrote the show and actually experienced what his character goes through, and Jessica Gunning, who portrayed stalker Martha, have done a phenomenal job.

In an open letter, the filmmakers and cast behind 2014 Lgbt-themed comedy-drama Pride have said they “deplore” a recent ban on the movie in Turkey, which is cracking down on Lgbt events.
According to Reuters, authorities in the Turkish capital Ankara last week banned a screening of the BAFTA-winning film citing risks to public safety. The ban came before an Lgbt parade in Istanbul on Sunday was teargased by police. Authorities have forbidden the march in recent years.
Actors Dominic West, Andrew Scott, Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton are among signatories of today’s open letter which expresses “unshakeable solidarity and support for Lgbt+ people in Turkey.”
“We are disturbed by reports of the growing repression of the Lgbt+ community in Turkey culminating in the recent ban of the annual Pride parade and police violence against those who courageously defied the ban,” says the letter.

Several of the talent and team behind “Pride” have said they deplore the decision to ban a screening of their 2014 movie by authorities in Ankara, Turkey’s capital and second-largest city. In an open letter they condemned the ban and a crack down on the Istanbul Pride march. They called upon officials “to condemn the repressive actions of the Turkish authorities.”
The 22 signatories of the letter included director Matthew Warchus, and several actors who starred in the British-produced film such as Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, and Dominic West. The activists that inspired the picture also signed.

The incredible true story of two unlikely groups of people coming together in solidarity is the focus of the UK comedy-drama Pride.
Now nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Picture in the Musical or Comedy category, Pride merges mostly fact with a few fictional elements to tell the story of how members of the Lgbt community in London joined forces with striking Welsh miners during the devastating 1984 mining strike.
It’s a clash of cultures as an Lgbt group in London led by Mark Ashton (Ben Schnetzer), the Irish ringleader of the newly-formed Lgsm: Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners and pals (played by Andrew Scott, Dominic West, and George MacKay) venture to a small Welsh mining community to deliver funds raised in support of their striking community. At first they are met resistance and caution from the small village, but before long, they are embraced by the larger...

In the summer of 1984, a tense standoff between Margaret Thatcher and the striking National Union of Mineworkers was making headlines in Britain and around the world. The year-long industrial action ended with the strikers' returning to work and Thatcher's government pushing through their programme, which saw the closure of over 70 coal pits over the next several years. The bitter feelings leftover from the conflict still reverberate throughout Britain even 30 years later. You only need look at the various jubilant reactions to Thatcher's passing in 2012 to get a sense that, for some, the hurt is still as fresh as it was three decades ago.
There was (at the very least) one amazing and positive thing to come out of those dark days. Something that, until now, has somehow managed to fly under the radar for most. Amid the politically-driven news headlines, there were other, more devastating reports of poverty-stricken mining families struggling to make ends meet.

“Audiences will have their sense of humanity refreshed.”
Actors Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton and Dominic West, director Matthew Warchus and the filmmakers of Pride discuss the background of this emotional story in the new featurette.
Critics are already cheering the film. “Breakout British hit is a warm, witty triumph,” says Digital Spy.
The Hollywood News writes, “Pride really is a thing of beauty.”
Pride is inspired by an extraordinary true story.
It’s the summer of 1984, Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike, prompting a London-based group of gay and lesbian activists to raise money to support the strikers’ families. Initially rebuffed by the Union, the group identifies a tiny mining village in Wales and sets off to make their donation in person. As the strike drags on, the two groups discover that standing together makes for the strongest union of all.
