Since Cheryl Burke left Dancing With The Stars a few seasons ago, she’s still kept a relatively strong social media presence. She may not be professionally dancing any longer, but DWTS is still heavy on her mind.
In fact, she launched a new podcast, Sex, Lies, & Spray Tans, where she dives into the backstage drama on the show. She’s had many former competitors as guests including Chris Jericho, Shangela, and even the controversial Sean Spicer.
But while searching for guests for the podcast, Cheryl has run into a bit of a snag. Some guests are hard to secure or have backed out entirely from the show.
What’s going on?

Exclusive: The production outfit behind Netflix’s Prince Andrew feature Scoop is working with Sarah Lancashire on an “ambitious, contemporary returning series” that Lancashire will star in.
Lighthouse Film & Television is teaming with Lancashire’s recently launched Via Pictures on the show, we can reveal, which Lighthouse co-founder Radford Neville teased is a “research heavy project inspired by real characters.”
Conversations with networks have already begun and Lancashire will star, contradicting reports that emerged earlier this week that she has retired from acting.
Lancashire launched Via Pictures with husband and former BBC and Banijay UK boss Peter Salmon last year upon the conclusion of Happy Valley, one of the corporation’s biggest dramas of the past decade.
“When we set up Lighthouse in 2019 we talked to Sarah about developing something specifically for her,” added Neville. “In the interim she has set up Via and towards the end of last year...

Since Dancing With the Stars launched in 2005, it has featured some questionable celebrities, including Carole Baskin, Sean Spicer, and more we’d rather not think about.
Now, producers are opening up about why these “clickbait” names are necessary for the competition series.
During ABC’s part of the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Saturday, EP Deena Katz said that the show needs “a little bit of that clickbait wow that gets people there.”
It makes sense. Specific names will generate headlines when their names are announced, as evidenced by both Baskin and Spicer’s castings.
Neither made it far into the competition, but it certainly got people talking about the show, and there’s also that curiosity factor about how well they fare in the process.
While that may be the case, Katz also stressed during the panel that there’s also the pressure to bring in new...

Producers of Dancing with the Stars are opening up about controversial casting decisions over the years, like Sean Spicer (Season 28), Carole Baskin (Season 29), and Adrian Peterson (Season 32), among many more.
Speaking to reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Saturday, EP Deena Katz said “clickbait” casting is something that has to be done.
“Unfortunately, in this day and age, have to do a little bit of that clickbait wow that gets people there,” Katz said. “But the hope is that all of us are great storytellers. And at the end of the day, we’re all telling really great stories in all different ways on this panel.”
Katz noted that during casting of the reality competition, “it’s really important every single season to bring new people in that audience members may not know.”

The producers of “Dancing With the Stars” are responding to the controversial casting of Sean Spicer (Season 28) and Adrian Peterson (Season 32), among others.
“We’re a silly ballroom dance show, we’re teaching people how to cha cha. The country is divided, so half of the people may have one political view and the other half have the other. At the core of it, we always just go for nice, good people,” executive producer Deena Katz told Variety following ABC’s unscripted panel at the Television Critics Association press tour on Saturday.
Katz added that former White House press secretary Spicer became friends with many members of the cast during his time on the show. However, there was a great deal of controversy amid his casting, with former host Tom Bergeron among those expressing disappointment over how the show was being politicized.
“I think everyone needs to, for the two hours you’re watching,...

Ziwe premiered her interview with George Santos on her YouTube channel after the congressman was expelled from Congress.
During the one-on-one interview, Ziwe asked Santos to weigh in on Bowen Yang’s impression of him on Saturday Night Live.
“I think he deserves an Egot,” Santos said.
Ziwe followed up by asking Santos if he would like Yang to play him in the HBO biopic being developed at the premium network by Veep executive producer Frank Rich based on the Mark Chiusano book The Fabulist: The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing, and Very American Legend of George Santos.
“That movie is not ever going to happen,” Santos answered. “The book has no perspective of me or anybody close to me. It’s a f***ing fiction.”

Update: This was the last debate of 2023 and, with polling showing Donald Trump still holds a commanding lead, it doesn’t appear that he has paid any price for bypassing these events.
He’s dismissed the debates as irrelevant, but save for a few mentions from Chris Christie and Ron DeSantis, none of his rivals have really gone full throttle in attacking him for skipping the events. Trump was the topic of discussion at points on Wednesday night, but those moments were largely overshadowed by the candidates attacking each other.
When moderators asked about the former president’s statement that he would be a dictator on day one of a second term, Christie attacked Trump, but Vivek Ramaswamy seemed to want to out-Trump Trump. Rather than attacking the former president, Ramaswamy labeled Nikki Haley a “fascist” for saying that she wanted verification of social media accounts.

Disgraced ex-congressman George Santos may have been expelled from the House of Representatives on Dec. 1 by a vote of 311-114 — but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the story for the alleged serial grifter and sometimes drag queen from New York. HBO Films has already optioned The Fabulist, a book about Santos’ rise and fall, for adaptation, with Frank Rich and Mike Makowsky (HBO’s Bad Education) attached to executive produce and Makowsky set to write. As for Santos, public opinion seems to think he’ll find a future on Dancing with the Stars — so much so that the show trended on X alongside news of his historic expulsion.

Former Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron has opened up about the events that led to him being fired from the show after 15 years.
While appearing on Cheryl Burke’s Sex Lies and Spray Tans podcast, Bergeron explained that, when he met with the showrunner and producer in 2019, he urged them to keep the show apolitical amid a polarizing election year.
“Don’t go there,” Bergeron recalled saying to his bosses. “Just make us the wonderful escape from all that divisiveness for two hours a week.”
A few weeks later, Bergeron was given the cast list for the show’s 28th season and saw that former White House press secretary for Donald Trump, Sean Spicer, was included.
“I said, ‘Guys, this is exactly what we said we wouldn’t do,'” Bergeron explained. “And I would have responded the same way if they had booked Hillary Clinton, whom I voted for.

ABC's Dancing With the Stars aired its highly-publicized tribute to Len Goodman on Tuesday.
Goodman died earlier this year at 78.
DWTS alums Maks Chmerkovskiy, Kym Johnson-Herjavec, Tony Dovolani, Karina Smirnoff, Anna Trebunskaya, Edyta Śliwińska, Louis van Amstel, and Mark Ballas returned.
They danced alongside the pros competing on Dancing With the Stars Season 32 with a beautiful tribute for the former head judge.
Goodman brought years of experience to both DWTS and its British iteration, Strictly Come Dancing, and appeared on both shows since their inception.
The emotional footage kicked off with a pre-recorded package featuring the pros speaking about their memories of Goodman.
"Getting criticized by Len was never easy but getting that 10 made it all worth it," Maks said.
"One of the things I'm most thankful for is being able to judge alongside Len," Derek said through his tears.

Tom Bergeron was once the host of Dancing With the Stars.
After being shockingly fired from the series in 2020 alongside then-cohost Erin Andrews, the series has struggled to fill the void.
Years later, Bergeron is opening up about the road to his departure to former DWTS pro Cheryl Burke on her Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans podcast.
Tom Bergeron Was Against The Series Featuring Political Figures
Bergeron had been vocal about not wanting political figures on the show because he believed that fans tuned into the show for escapism from what was happening in the country.
Initially, the host said that producers agreed, but it changed quickly when he received a phone call from a showrunner and a producer who opened up about the potential candidates for the season.
"And this former showrunner says to me, 'You might want to sit down for this last one.' I said 'Why?...

Tom Bergeron‘s 2020 firing continues to divide DWTS viewers. However, in a new interview, the television personality sheds new light on his departure from the celebrity competition series, claiming he “screwed” producers before leaving the series for good.
Ex-‘DWTS’ host Tom Bergeron says he ‘screwed’ producers after ‘they screwed him’
Tom Bergeron, who hosted DWTS from seasons one through 28, was a constant on the ever-evolving ABC series. From day one, he provided light banter while moving the live show along and, ultimately, became as integral a part of the series as its celebrities and dancers.
Bergeron remained DWTS‘ stalwart. He hosted alongside Lisa Canning in season one, Samantha Harris from seasons two through nine, Brooke Burke from seasons 10 through 17, and Erin Andrews from seasons 18 through 28.
ABC announced Bergeron and Andrews’ surprise exit in July 2020, stating that the show was heading in “a new creative direction.” Tyra Banks replaced Bergeron...

Tom Bergeron is opening up about his dismissal from ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, and the former host is not holding back.
The 68-year-old left the reality competition series in 2020 after being openly critical of the producers casting Donald Trump’s White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer in the show’s 28th season. Speaking with the Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans podcast, Bergeron detailed his perspective of the behind-the-scenes conversations that led to his ouster after hosting the hit show for 15 years.
Bergeron says that leading up to the fateful year, he had signed a new contract for three seasons. During a couple of lunches with various producers (whom he did not name), he urged them not to cast any political figures due to the pending presidential election and the increasingly divisive climate: “Make us the wonderful escape from all that divisiveness for two hours a week.” The producers seemingly enthusiastically agreed.

Former “Dancing With the Stars” host Tom Bergeron reunited with dancer and franchise veteran Cheryl Burke on the latter’s “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans” podcast (via Entertainment Weekly) and reflected on his tumultuous exit from the long-running ABC reality competition series. Bergeron was the original host of the program and led the show for 28 seasons. He parted ways with “DWTS” after the 2019 season because the show executives did not listen to his advice about staying out of politics and cast Sean Spicer, the hugely controversial former press secretary for President Donald Trump, to compete.
“In the summer of 2019, I had two lunches — one with that showrunner person and another one with his boss,” Bergeron remembered. “I said, ‘Well look, 2019 is the threshold to an election year in America, we are a very divided country. Vivek Ramaswamy is already getting “amazing” traction in the GOP presidential primary race, Sean Spicer said, after spending the weekend at the Iowa State Fair, an early whistle-stop for Republican presidential candidates.
The NewsNation political contributor and former White House press secretary was asked Monday to whom Ramaswamy poses a bigger threat – Ron DeSantis or Donald Trump? With the Ohio-born entrepreneur running third but still polling in single-digits, Spicer sees more trouble for the Florida governor.
“It is amazing the amount of traction [Ramaswamy] has been getting,” Spicer said. “I think that he’s probably a bigger threat to DeSantis because right now DeSantis is positioning himself as the alternative to Trump, but he’s stalled out.”
Spicer said Ramaswamy has something most presidential candidates don’t: a blank space where a voting record would normally go.
“If they can continue to move forward, I think he can position himself as that No.

Hollywood star Whoopi Goldberg shockingly cursed on-air in a hilarious opening during a new episode of ‘The View’.
Whoopi presented a new topic for her co-hosts to tackle when she was trying to say “beaches”.
However, she ended up with an ‘Nsfw’ word instead, reports aceshowbiz.com.

Sean Spicer, after teasing an exciting “new project” upon his exit from Newsmax while promising a continued presence on YouTube, has kept one end of the bargain, at least.
Two months ago, Spicer left the conservative cable news channel after three years as host of his own primetime show, “Spicer & Co.” The former Trump press secretary has since embraced YouTube even as an audience has mostly failed to materialize, also partnering with an upstart video platform and making guest appearances on NewsNation.
In near-daily YouTube videos of a few minutes in length, Spicer has stayed true to the right-wing political ramblings that became the expected fodder on his Newsmax show.

Sean Spicer has ended his nightly Newsmax show Spicer & Co. after three years.
Spicer, who served as Donald Trump’s first White House press secretary, said it was “my honor to be part of the Newsmax team and I’m grateful for my time there. With all of that under my belt, it is time for me to move on to a new challenge, a new adventure and a new opportunity to serve the American people.”
Mediaite reported that Spicer decided to leave the network after negotiations on a new contract fell apart. Co-host Lyndsay Keith departed last month.
A spokesperson for Newsmax said, “In preparation for new programming, we decided to not continue Spicer & Co. with hosts Lyndsay Keith and Sean Spicer. The network wishes them both well in their new endeavors.”

Sean Spicer exited Newsmax on Thursday, three years after launching “Spicer & Co.” in a prime spot on the conservative cable-news channel.
But with his golden-boy status ended a year ago when the network hired Greta Van Susteren — Spicer’s show was bumped from the coveted 6 p.m. Et slot to the 5 o’clock hour of Newsmax’s lineup — the first press secretary during the Donald Trump administration has left Newsmax, pledging to be “a force for good in this country.” According to Mediaite, Spicer and Newsmax could not come to terms on a new contract.
“After three-plus amazing years of ‘Spicer and Company,’ I’m leaving Newsmax to embark on a new project,” Spicer said in a YouTube video, which you can watch at the top of this post.

Ambushed outside a Santa Monica Whole Foods by TMZ, Tyra Banks announced that she’s leaving “Dancing with the Stars.” The host for the past three seasons appeared to break the news before a formal announcement could come from producer BBC Studios or Disney+. “I think it’s time to graduate from the dance floor to the stock market floor… from the ballroom to the boardroom,” she said. The move comes after original judge Len Goodman, who’d been on the show since its beginning in 2005, announced his retirement from the series.
For this writer and “Dancing with the Stars” superfan, there’s only one answer to who should be the next host: Tom Bergeron. The host of the first 28 seasons was the heart, soul, and DNA of the sparkly series, and he deserves a chance to come back.
Change can be a good thing, and there’s no question Banks grew into the role.

Tom Bergeron was more than a host for many Dancing with the Stars pros, including Cheryl Burke. He was a friend, confidant, and source of inspiration behind the scenes of the ballroom dance competition. Many fans were shocked when Tyra Banks replaced Bergeron and his DWTS co-host Erin Andrews in season 29.
Burke admittedly has nothing bad to say about Banks as the new host. However, she thinks something is missing from Dancing with the Stars that disappeared when Bergeron was replaced.

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson knocked President Joe Biden’s announcement on Thursday that he has secured the release of American WNBA player Brittney Griner. The opinion host claimed she was prioritized over former Marine Paul Whelan based on her identity and politics.
Griner was detained in Russia in February for possessing less than a gram of cannabis oil in her luggage while at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport. In exchange for her release, the United States released arms dealer Viktor Bout, who was serving a 25-year sentence after conspiring to sell weapons meant to be used against Americans. Meanwhile, Whelan has been detained in Russia since 2018 on charges of espionage.
Carlson cited a NBC News report which said that Russia originally gave Biden a choice of whether to free Griner or Whelan in exchange for Bout. The initial reporting cited a senior U.S. official. He then claimed that the report...

Onetime Trump Administration Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is projected to win the Republican primary in the race to be Arkansas’ next governor, a position held by her father from 1996-2007. The Associated Press called the primary race in Sanders’ favor early this evening.
Huckabee Sanders took over the White House Briefing Room podium from Sean Spicer in July 2017 and almost immediately established herself as a fierce defender of Trump and his policies. Her tenure was marked by sometimes-ugly clashes with with the White House press corps — famously CNN’s Jim Acosta — and Democrats’ accusations she spread falsehoods.
Trump announced her departure with an appreciative 2019 tweet in which he also said, “I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas – she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!”

Seth Meyers took several digs at former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway on Monday night over the news that she is releasing a book about her time in the White House.

The appearance of disgraced former New York City mayor and “Borat” co-star Rudy Giuliani on “The Masked Singer” chummed the waters of late-night hosts on Thursday night. The vision of Donald Trump’s disbarred lawyer singing George Thorogood’s “Bad to the Bone,” was too surreal of a moment to ignore.
When the Fox reality competition revealed that the rainbow-colored chicken in a Jack in the Box was indeed the keynote speaker from the Four Seasons Total Landscaping press conference, “Masked Singer” judge Ken Jeong realized that whatever they were paying him to stand there and grin wasn’t enough and walked off the set. Robin Thicke reportedly bolted, too, but did not pronounce “yeah, I’m done,” like Jeong did. Nicole Scherzinger and Jenny McCarthy stayed to do some humiliating dance moves.

Perhaps the only gratifying thing about Rudy Giuliani’s appearance on “The Masked Singer” is that the element of surprise the show’s producers craved was ruined in advance.
Wednesday night’s episode of “The Masked Singer” saw former New York City mayor and lawyer for former President Donald Trump revealed as the Jack in the Box. Fitting his costume, the disguised Giuliani explosively popped out of his captivity to perform George Thorogood and the Destroyers’ “Bad to the Bone” after a dancer turned his crank, to squeals of delight from the show’s audience and judges. There was little suggestion of who he was — indeed, the package of hints the show provides focused on the random and tangential fact that Giuliani has performed weddings with frequency. Tom Bergeron is opening up to the recent shake-up behind-the-scenes at Dancing With the Stars.
Deadline recently reported that Executive Producer, Andrew Llinares had stepped down from the show after five seasons.
The hit ABC reality series has experienced many changes while Andrew was in power, including the firings of hosts Bergeron and Erin Andrews.
A fan asked Bergeron his thoughts on Andrew exiting the series, and he elicited the following response via Twitter:
Karma's a bitch!
The post was accompanied by a wink emoji.
Bergeron has opened up about his firing several times since it all played out in 2019.
He spent 14 years as a host, so it's only natural to have thoughts about the series.
Bergeron spoke with the late Bob Saget on his podcast, Bob Saget's Here for You, and opened up about the events leading up to his exit, including the addition of Sean Spicer as a contestant.

Things are strange this Halloween season, according to host Bill Maher on tonight’s HBO episode of Real Time.
Because of the pipeline backups and product shortages, “This year I’m trying to get kids to put toilet paper on my house,” Maher joked.
Maher also found it strange that former Trump press secretary and Radical Nation author Sean Spicer wouldn’t agree with him on whether the 2020 election was stolen. Spicer was prepared for a hostile interview from the start, as his body language gave away. Maher noted, “You have your book over your nuts. Don’t worry, this is not a hostile interview.”
Sounding the theme that the nation needs to come together, Maher acknowledged there are disagreements between conservatives and liberals. But he still chided Spicer for his obstinance on certain points, like whether Biden’s “Build Back Better” is a solid financial program that will ultimately...

It has been well over a year since Dancing With the Stars fired both Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews.
Bergeron has been open about the ouster, but he got even more candid about it on Bob Saget's Here for You podcast.
The star has said that he could see the writing on the wall as far back as Summer 2019 -- a year before he was fired.
He explained that there were changes behind the scenes of the show, “and those people and I did not see eye-to-eye about how best to present the show," he explained.
Bergeron felt like the show should have been veering away from controversial political personalities because the show should be “an oasis, for two hours every week, from all of the nonsense and the divisiveness going on right now, and let’s not put political people in there.”
Sean Spicer was added to the cast,...

Dancing With the Stars fans may have felt blindsided by news of Tom Bergeron‘s firing in July 2020… but Bergeron himself did not.
On a recent episode of the Bob Saget’s Here for You podcast, Bergeron — who abruptly left the ABC competition series, along with co-host Erin Andrews, after Season 28 — spoke more candidly about the circumstances of his exit, revealing that he “kinda knew” it was coming.

Newsmax has tapped Steve Cortes, a former adviser to Donald Trump, and Jenn Pellegrino, a former White House correspondent for One America News Network, to co host a primetime show.
Set to debut on Tuesday, Cortes & Pellegrino will air at 9 Pm Et, the same time slot as Hannity on Fox News.
Cortes was an advisor and television spokesperson for the 2020 Trump campaign, and also has been a commentator on politics and finance. Pellegrino was a correspondent for One America, perhaps the most pro-Trump of all rightward news networks. She also has worked for Fox News and QVC.
Newsmax says the show will “confront and tackle Washington’s permanent political class, big business, and the increasing threat of ‘woke’ progressivism.” The Newsmax nightly lineup also includes with Spicer & Co., Greg Kelly Reports, Stinchfield and Rob Schmitt Tonight. Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy said that the new show “completes our nightly lineup and will continue our unprecedented growth.

Most of the humor in the Melissa McCarthy–Octavia Spencer superhero comedy, Thunder Force, doesn’t really work. The film has nothing funny or interesting to say about superheroes, as concepts or movie franchises, and it relies way too heavily on messy montages that weirdly double down on comedic bits that didn’t work the first time. There are more laughs to be found in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
That said, Thunder Force features one thing that myself and the internet simply cannot get enough of: Jason Bateman as mid-level crime boss Jerry the Crab, a dude with crab claws for hands. It’s exactly as goofy as it sounds. At one point, Bateman describes his Zodiac sign as being “you’d think Cancer,” then snaps his claws twice, before revealing that he’s actually a Capricorn. The scene then devolves into a not-particularly funny dream/dance sequence, but...

Newsmax host Chris Salcedo appeared to have a funny conversation with Sean Spicer on Thursday evening as the hosts bantered during an outro segment between their two shows. The only problem? Viewers couldn’t hear a single thing Spicer said.
After Salcedo asked Spicer what he had coming up on his 6 p.m. Et show, “Spicer & Co.,” audiences could only see the former White House press secretary move his lips as his mic remained muted.
Spicer’s response apparently had something to do with Major League Baseball, as Salcedo, whose mic was on, chimed in and claimed that the MLB “opposes voter integrity” for some reason.
The entire conversation continued in this manner, with audiences left guessing what Spicer had to say as Salcedo — apparently unaware that his colleague’s mic was muted — chimed in with clues.
The awkward segment ended with Salcedo saying, “Great point, great point.”

Donald Trump may be out of the limelight (and off of Twitter) for the moment, but the Maga foot soldiers who stoked his racist fantasies, encouraged his worst impulses, and looked the other way for four years of chaos and cruelty haven’t left us. The leading villains of the Trump presidency have scattered to Fox News and the 2024 campaign trail, defending their former boss’s tumultuous years in office and doing their damnedest to elect future waves of Trump-loving Republicans.

With a deliberate pace, Sonia Kennebeck’s United States vs. Reality Winner quietly directs its outrage towards the injustice faced by 25-year-old whistle blower Reality Leigh Winner and a system that failed her. Held up as a poster girl for the deep state by Trump and the prosecution, she was ultimately betrayed by the sloppy work by journalists at The Incept who carelessly provided a document with identifiable information for confirmation.
Following the events that led up to Winner’s arrest––including recordings of conversations between Winner and agents who stopped by for a friendly chat, along with the efforts of her loving family to advocate on her behalf–– Kennebeck again has crafted an often riveting exploration of the state of national security. What emerges is a sympathetic personal portrait of Winner, who shares classified information on Russian interference (a document later declassified), as told through the perspective of mother Billie Winner-Davis and sister Brittany,...
