Talk about poise. Farah Nasser, a host on Canada’s Global News, kept on track after swallowing a wayward bug during a live broadcast. “Sharing because we all need a laugh these days,” she later tweeted, alongside a clip of the moment. “I swallowed a fly on air today.”
Nasser was talking about flooding in Pakistan when the incident happened. After a grimace and a quick throat-clearing, she resumed as though nothing had happened.
“I could feel it fluttering in the back of my throat as I finished that introduction,” she told CNN in an interview.
CNN anchors Victbugor Blackwell and Alisyn Camerota appreciated the professionalism required, with Camerota calling for Nasser to get an Edward R. Murrow Award. “right now!” .

Global News’ Farah Nasser got choked up on air this week, but not because of the emotional story she was reporting. The Canadian anchor inadvertently swallowed a fly, live on air.
Nasser later appeared on Et Canada to discuss the incident, where she proclaimed it “was gross, so gross.”
She elaborated, “I saw it flying around at the beginning of the news … and I was like, ‘Not today, fly. I’m not gonna let you distract me.'” Nasser said she was more concerned about the fly flying into the lens and the next thing I knew, it was just in my throat. You can’t even see it in the video. It was so sneaky, this fly.”

Canada’s most populous province, Ontario, is shutting down movie theaters and other businesses for 28 days amid an uptick in Covid-19 infections.
The move, which takes effect at 12:01Am local time, sidelines a major driver of North American box office at the same time that theaters in New York and LA remain closed. Studios have shifted most releases to 2021 due to the pandemic-related closures, leaving U.S. theater circuits in a perilous state.
Canada throughout the initial months of the coronavirus pandemic has been in the opposite position as the U.S., with politicians putting aside policy differences to tackle the situation. Infection and mortality rates have been a fraction of those in the U.S., even when adjusted for population differences.
Along with movie theaters, gyms and indoor dining at restaurants in Toronto, Ottawa and other parts of the province will be suspended. There will also be prohibition...

Remember how Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was in Los Angeles around the time of the 2014 Academy Awards? He was a guest on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" during that trip, sharing the bill with Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey.
Alas, neither the crack-smoking mayor nor his brother, Doug Ford, were impressed with Spacey's manners.
And they aren't afraid to talk about it on their web series, "Ford Nation."
To be fair, it's mostly Doug who has the Spacey hate going on. Rob claims that he doesn't even know who the two-time Oscar winner and star of "House of Cards" is. Doug, on the other hand, has plenty to say about Spacey.
"I wanna start off by saying Kevin Spacey is an incredible actor. He is. He really is," Doug Ford says to begin. Then comes the dislike. "In my opinion, he's an arrogant Sob, and I'll tell you the reason why: Any actor...

Toronto (AP) - Toronto's combative mayor claimed Friday that he wouldn't know Kevin Spacey "if I ran over him," a week after the "House of Cards" star poked fun at Rob Ford when both appeared on a late night talk show. Ford's brother called the actor "an arrogant Sob."
The reason for their displeasure?
Spacey cracked several jokes at the mayor's expense when he appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Mar. 2 shortly after a brief cameo by Ford.
"That's the first time I've had to follow a Ford," Spacey quipped. "And one that was so banged up."
When Kimmel thanked Spacey for sharing a dressing room with the mayor, Spacey responded, "Well, he threw up all over it, but those are the chances you take."

Toronto's hard-partying, crack-smoking, football-throwing mayor is coming to a computer screen near you. Rob Ford, who has recently made headlines as his own City Council attempts to remove him from power will star in a web series. Ford's ridiculous behavior makes him the perfect subject for his own reality show, and that is exactly what we're going to get. Rob and his brother Doug (the Toronto City Councilor) are planning their own web series set to debut "before Christmas." The web series will be titled Ford Nation and will feature open chatter between the two brothers, all broadcast to YouTube. “I want it to look professional, but simple … like Rob and I,” said Doug Ford. “The lovers are going to follow it, and the haters are going to follow it.” Rob Ford previously hosted a Canadian TV series of the same name, which drew huge ratings but was canceled after just one episode.

Nothing is going right for Rob Ford these days. Canadian network Sun News has canceled the Toronto mayor's reality show, "Ford Nation," after only one episode.
This comes in addition to the revelations about smoking crack and in addition to inappropriate language on live TV and in addition to using being drunk as an excuse for everything. It also means that Ford and his brother, Doug, will no longer have a regular media outlet for the first time in years.
According to the Globe and Mail, only about 155,000 people tuned in to the debut episode of "Ford Nation" on Monday (Nov. 18). Sun News, a conservative-leaning cable network, is available in only about 40 percent of Canadian homes, but the number of viewers still didn't satisfy the network. The cancellation comes less than a week after the show was first announced.
