Paramount+ is breaking up with two recent additions to its roster by canceling the Kiefer Sutherland spy drama Rabbit Hole and Fatal Attraction, starring Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan. Paramount+ is in slash-and-burn mode, with the company removing titles as a cost-cutting measure.
“We want to thank both series’ entire creative teams, crews and the fantastic casts for their dedication to bringing these series to life,” said the Paramount+ spokesperson. “Both Fatal Attraction and Rabbit Hole will continue to be available on Paramount+ for audiences to discover.”
Rabbit Hole and Fatal Attraction join Paramount‘s other canceled series, including Real World: Homecoming, The Twilight Zone, Interrogation, Coyote, No Activity, Guilty Party, and The Harper House. More cancelations hit the streaming service in June, with Star Trek: Prodigy, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Queen of the Universe, and The Game going the way of the dodo. Everyone who has loved thrillers from the 1980s will recall the Michael Douglas-Glenn Close starrer, the 1987 thriller “Fatal Attraction.” It showed how a weekend of passion beyond the sanctity of marriage led to a family coming to the verge of destruction when the scorned Alex Forrest decided she wanted Dan Gallagher all for herself, even if it meant killing his wife. Paramount+ has brought us the reimagined version of the story with Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan as Dan and Alex, with a handful of other talented cast members making up the show. The series is engaging and interesting and shows the way a disbalanced woman’s brain functions. The story is told with a lot of back-and-forths, going back and returning to the present, but to aid you readers, let’s look at the events that transpire in the present day.

A curious Anne Archer lifts the lid off of a boiling pot only to discover the body of her young daughter’s mangled and bloated bunny. It’s a film scene that still echoes in the minds of cinephiles and physiological thriller enthusiasts alike. However, unlike the 1987 film starring Archer, Michael Douglas and the incomparable Glenn Close, Paramount+’s new series, “Fatal Attraction,” is void of boiled mammals. What it does have is a more intricately fleshed-out narrative of a pompous and ambitious district attorney Dan Gallagher (Joshua Jackson), whose tawdry affair with a young woman, Alexandra Forrest (Lizzy Caplan), quickly spirals out of his control.
“Dirty John” creator Alexandra Cunningham and writer Kevin J. Hynes’ series opens in the present day in Los Angeles, with a frazzled and bearded Dan pleading his case for parole. He’s served 15 years for killing Alex, a crime he attests to, before being granted his freedom.

Plot: A deep-dive reimagining of the classic 80’s thriller, exploring timeless themes of marriage and infidelity through the lens of modern attitudes toward strong women, personality disorders and coercive control.
Review: As Paramount continues to mine its existing franchises and intellectual property for material to populate its streaming service, we will find unique approaches to retelling classic and iconic stories. Many will not be pleased to see their favorite films updated with new casts and creative angles, whether prequels, sequels, or remakes. Fatal Attraction, based on the Michael Douglas and Glen Close psychosexual thriller that did for adultery what Jaws did for swimming in the ocean, features the same main characters and the core concept of the 1987 film but expands the plot in a fundamentally distinct direction. This update mines unfamiliar territory compared to the movie version, which works in theory but not necessarily in execution. Fatal Attraction 2023 is...

You don’t want to ignore the new trailer for Fatal Attraction, the upcoming eight-episode adaptation of the classic 1987 movie coming to Paramount+.
The Fatal Attraction series stars Lizzy Caplan as Alex Forrest, a woman who forms a deep connection with Dan Gallagher (Joshua Jackson) during a one-night stand, but when Dan decides to end the affair, Alex has trouble letting go. The series is based on the 1987 film of the same name starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close. Writer/executive producer Alexandra Cunningham teased that while there will be similarities with the movie, it will explore different facets. “The screenwriter of the film, James Dearden said, to him the character of Alex Forrest is not a study in madness, but rather a sad, tragic, lonely woman under pressure from a really hard job,” Cunningham said. “As a frequently sad, not at all tragic, and not as lonely as I...
