Barron Trump, 18, is about to embark on a new chapter in his life—attending college. Barron could attend Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania like his father, former President Donald Trump, or go abroad to his mother, Melania Trump‘s home country, Slovenia.
Instead, New York University seems to be Barron’s first choice school. NYU is only a few miles from his family’s building, Trump Tower. Previously, Barron’s parents said they were looking at U. Penn as one of the schools Barron could attend.
With a switch in the family’s college history, it is still unclear how Trump will react, considering the former president holds Ivy League universities in high regard.
“Barron’s very tall—about six-eight. And he’s a good kid. He’s a good-looking kid. He’s a great student, very good student,” Trump said about his son in September 2023.

Netflix has landed feature rights to Seesaw Monster — a 2019 book by Kotaro Isaka, whose novel Maria Beetle was recently adapted into the David Leitch actioner Bullet Train for Sony, starring Brad Pitt.
Olivia Milch (Ocean’s Eight) will adapt the screenplay, with Oscar winner Anna Hathaway (Armageddon Time) and Oscar nominee Salma Hayek Pinault (House of Gucci) attached to star. Who will direct is not yet clear.
While Netflix is keeping plot specific under wraps, it has described the film as an action-comedy two-hander that will have Hathaway and Pinault playing rivals forced together. The few descriptions of Seesaw Monster to be found online bill it as a story moving between the Japan of the Showa era and 2050, centered on the relationship between a wife and her mysterious mother-in-law.
Akiva Goldsman and Gregory Lessans will produce for Weed Road Pictures, alongside Pinault for Ventanarosa Productions, Hathaway for Somewhere Pictures and Ryosuke Saegusa...

Damon Gameau.
Disney’s live action update of 1992 animated blockbuster Aladdin cast its spell over cinemas in Australia and worldwide last weekend while Damon Gameau’s feature documentary 2040 attracted appreciative audiences and is positioned for a long run.
Gameau’s journey, which explores what the world could look like by 2040 if the best solutions already available to improve the planet are adopted, raked in $198,000 on 92 screens, which brings the total including extensive previews and festival screenings to $321,000.
Takings on Sunday were up 5 per cent on Saturday, reversing the usual trend. The Palace circuit, which offered free tickets to students aged up to 18 on Saturday and Sunday, accounted for more than 30 per cent of total admissions.
The distributor, Madman Entertainment MD Paul Wiegard expects a first-week take of $400,000, telling If: “The Sunday uptick is super encouraging, indicating the film is playing well with family audiences.
“We are very pleased with where the film has landed.

‘Top End Wedding.’
Pokémon fans flocked to the franchise’s second movie in 20 years last weekend but even more people were keen to see Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, which reigned again in its third frame.
Meanwhile word-of-mouth is paying off for Universal’s Top End Wedding, which eased by just 22 per cent in its second weekend.
Universal’s comedy The Hustle, a female reboot of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, over-indexed its Us opening, probably due to co-star Rebel Wilson.
Roadshow’s Poms, an ensemble comedy about seniors in a retirement home who form a cheer-leading squad, had little to cheer about, unwisely scheduled against The Hustle.
A passion project for Kenneth Branagh, Sony’s Shakespearean drama All is True had a respectable debut on limited screens. Of the two new Indian releases, Maharshi proved far more appealing than Student Of The Year 2.
The top 20 titles generated $16.5 million, down 9 per cent...

Octavia Spencer is in talks to star opposite Anna Hathaway in Robert Zemeckis’ adaptation of “The Witches.” Sources say “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris is on board to co-write the script with Zemeckis.
Newcomers Jahzir Bruno and Codie-Lei Eastick are also negotiations to join the cast, Variety has learned.
Based on the 1973 novel, the film follows a 7-year-old boy (Bruno) who has a run in with real-life witches. Warner Bros. had previously adapted the book in 1990 with Anjelica Huston playing one of the title characters, but sources close to the project say Zemeckis’ version will be more rooted in the original source material, while Huston’s version was a loose adaptation.
Spencer will play the grandmother of Bruno’s character, and Eastick is portraying the other boy who has a run in with the Witches.
Zemeckis is producing with his partner Jack Rapke through their banner ImageMovers, along with Alfonso Cuaron and Guillermo del Toro.
