The musician and visual artist Jean Dawson is consistently viral — clips of his wide-ranging and somewhat existential interviews have a way of multiplying on social feeds — and yet remains a genuine enigma. Growing up, the 26-year-old artist split his time between Tijuana and San Diego near the border. His mother is of Mexican descent and his father is Black, and he says he drew early inspiration both from hip-hop and Latin music. Generally, though, Dawson prefers to eschew simple categorization. Recently, he stopped by Rolling Stone’s offices ahead of...

Rising experimental-pop musician Jean Dawson has looped in Sza to collaborate on his new single, “No Szns.”
Over dreamy guitars, Dawson finds himself stuck in a cycle of sun and sex. “In the spring, you can’t hear a thing/All the birds and bees,” he sings. “Nobody think in the summer time/ People off the brink/In California, we ain’t got no seasons/ All the same to me/ ’Cause in the heat, like to press repeat/ Every day is every day.” Sza pops up for the second verse, adding her own anxious twist on the themes.
Since the release of her 2022 album Sos, Sza has kept herself busy collaborating with other artists, most recently on acoustic version of her song “Snooze” with Justin Bieber, as well as on Drake’s “Slime You.” She also recently launched a new leg of tour dates that runs through the middle of October.

Fresh off two new tracks with Drake and Justin Bieber, Sza recently guested on genre-bending performer Jean Dawson’s new song “No Szns.” The stirring single is driven by grungy guitar and reflective singing by the duo. They are both the song’s only writers, though it was produced by Dawson and a handful of other musicians. Towards the track’s end, they share the chorus: “In the spring, you can’t hear a thing all the birds and bees/Nobody thinks/In the summertime people off the brink/In California,...

Sza has dropped a darkly comedic and surreal video for “Snooze,” which chronicles the rise and fall of five romantic relationships between Sza and characters played by popstar Justin Bieber, actors Woody McClain and Young Mazino, star producer/songwriter Benny Blanco — and a robot in a fitted cap. Tacked to the end of the video is another for a previously unreleased track that begins with Sza in an elegant embrace with a partner in a lush field and ends with her stripped down to a thong by herself. “Snooze” is...
