Who doesn’t love a good conspiracy story or juicy scandal when one comes along?
Some of the ladies on The View want more information on this royal subject, which Whoopi Goldberg mentioned the other day.
Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin are enthralled with the latest royal scandal and cannot stop talking about it on The View.
Whoopi introduced the subject of Kate Middleton, her photoshopped family picture, and the controversy surrounding it.
Ever since the palace announced that Kate would be recovering from abdominal surgery until Easter, fans have been clamoring for news or photos of her.
When she released a photo taken by Prince William, she had to apologize because it was found to have been edited to some degree. This has caused more questions about Kate and her health.

Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the Oscars this year for the fourth time. Other than Bob Hope (19 times), Billy Crystal (nine) and Johnny Carson (five), no solo host has done it more. (Whoopi did it 4 times as well.) But it is a good bet that among those hosts, no one has seen as many of the nominated films. Kimmel is a self-described movie fan, and as I learned from our conversation he not only spends weeks, months even, prepping his monologue, but he also might be one of the few in the room at the Dolby Theater who actually has seen everything. And I mean everything.
Kimmel’s first Oscar show in 2017 was a baptism of fire that ended with the infamous Envelopegate, when Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway pronounced heavy favorite La La Land as the Best Picture winner over what was revealed soon as the actual winner, Moonlight. He...

The ladies on The View may look like they are friendly with each other, but sometimes, they let their real feelings slip through the facade.
That certainly was the case on a recent airing of The View when Sara Haines was missing from her seat next to Whoopi Goldberg.
There is usually a friendly rivalry among the ladies, lighthearted slams back and forth, all tinged with love. But today, it seemed that Joy was not coming from a place of love.
It is well known that both Whoopi and Joy Behar have shortened work weeks, with Ana Navarro filling in occasionally, so it was odd when Sara was not on the show midweek.
Whoopi began the segment by explaining that Sara Haines would not be on the show but would hopefully return in the next few days.

Things got heated recently on The View; this time, it was because of another veteran talk show host, Dr. Phil McGraw.
The ladies, led by Whoopi Goldberg, graciously welcomed Dr. Phil into their house, aka the set of The View, only to have to shut him down because of a controversial view he had that offended the ladies.
Dr. Phil shut down his long-running talk show, The Dr. Phil, after Season 21 last May to relocate his team to Texas and launch a new project.
He moved his team to Fort Worth, Texas, to launch Merit Street Media, a new cable television network featuring his new show, Dr. Phil Primetime, according to Dallas Innovates. It is premiering Ferburary 26.
The show was going well, and the ladies allowed Dr. Phil to talk about his new project, his book, We’ve Got Issues, until Sara Haines asked an innocent question.

Dr. Phil McGraw appeared on The View Monday as part of the press tour for his upcoming book and primetime show, but a sudden segue into the topic of Covid and its effects on school children caught the hosts entirely by surprise.

McGraw discussed how after the adoption of smartphones, there was a huge spike in the levels of depression, anxiety and loneliness reported among children but,...

Whoopi Goldberg started a recent episode of The View, as she put it, “A little differently this morning.”
She was setting the stage for some weighty news that was to come from Sunny Hostin, one of the co-hosts on the show.
Sunny had recently shared that she would be on Finding Your Roots with Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. this season, and fans eagerly awaited the segment.
The show uses DNA and paper records to find out where famous people come from, and Sunny consented to be featured on the show, but what she found out shocked her.
Sunny had tears when Whoopi opened the show and began speaking to her about her ancestry results.
“Yes, he gave me some surprising revelations about my family,” Sunny said, speaking about Dr. Gates.

The ladies on The View are all seasoned professionals who know how to conduct themselves on national television most of the time.
One of the ladies recently dropped her decorum again, shocking the rest, especially Sunny Hostin.
Whoopi Goldberg was off on her usual three-day weekend excursion, and Joy Behar stepped in as moderator of the show.
Maybe it won’t surprise fans to hear who startled Sunny because she has been in hot water on the show before, and the censors keep their fingers on the bleep button just in case.
It all started when Joy Behar brought up the fact that President Biden has “salty” language and has been caught on video using curse words.
The ladies decided to discuss using profanity, and Ana Navarro was not disappointed with her language. It was so bad, whatever she said it was bleeped. The View has shared the clip on their YouTube channel.

Whoopi Goldberg is an Oscars legend, having won an Academy Award for “Ghost” and hosted the ceremony four times and served as an Academy board member. So perhaps moviegoers might want to listen to Goldberg when she says there are no such thing as Oscar snubs amid the uproar over Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie missing out on nominations for best director and best actress, respectively, at the 2024 Oscars.
“Barbie” earned a total of eight nominations, including best picture, and Gerwig is a nominee for screenwriting and so is Robbie as one of the film’s producers. And yet, shutting Gerwig out of best director and Robbie out of best actress has resulted in backlash against the Academy.
“The message of all of that is not lost on me, but one question I have — and maybe Whoopi is the only one that can answer this — when does it become a snub?...

Today on The View, Sara Haines got down to business with a guest and asked him what could be considered a very uncomfortable question.
The rapper Common was a guest on the show promoting his new book, And Then We Rise: A Guide to Loving and Taking Care of Self. During the segment, Sara Haines mentioned his appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show.
Common listed some specific qualities that his partner had on Jennifer’s show, which got Sara curious as to whether one of the ladies on The View fit that bill.
Sara started reciting these qualities: “She’s one of the most beautiful people…talented…have her talk show…Egot winner…”
Only one lady on the panel fits that bill, and that would be Whoopi Goldberg. She has been looking great lately and has even lost weight.

The story is well known to Trekkies. Whoopi Goldberg, when she was a young girl, recalls flipping on the television and seeing a particular science fiction show for the first time. There were two white men on the bridge of a starship, and behind them sat a Black woman wearing an outsize earpiece, serving in the space military alongside them. Of course, the series was "Star Trek," and the character Goldberg noticed was Uhura, played by Nichelle Nichols. Goldberg recalls running to her mother and exclaiming "There's a Black lady on television and she ain't no maid!" Goldberg admits to being a Trekkie ever since.
In 1987, "Star Trek: The Next Generation" had debuted, and Goldberg had already become a major star. Her breakout role came in 1985 in Steven Spielberg's "The Color Purple," but she was already well-known for her film and comedy work. Not only was there a new "Star Trek" on TV,...

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from “The Color Purple,” now playing in theaters.
As “The Color Purple” director Blitz Bazawule and his star-studded cast made their press rounds ahead of the musical movie’s Christmas Day release, they paid a special trip to visit “The View” and Whoopi Goldberg, who starred in the 1985 movie adaptation of Alice Walker’s classic novel.
It’d been nearly 40 years since Goldberg played Celie, an abused and uneducated Southern Black woman whose journey to liberation is at the center of Walker’s tale. Bazawule and stars Fantasia Barrino, Danielle Brooks and Taraji P. Henson wanted to give her her flowers.
“’The Color Purple’ is sacred ground. You don’t just show up to it with nothing to offer or nothing to contribute,” Bazawule said, when Goldberg asked why he decided to sign on for the film. “It’s been a brilliant, Pulitzer Prize-winning book.

Warning: This story includes spoilers from the 2023 musical remake of The Color Purple.
With The Color Purple being a musical remake of the 1985 film, there are certainly many scenes that hearken back to the original. But in one scene, there’s a face that brings it all full circle.
Early on in the film, Whoopi Goldberg, Oscar-nominated for her role as Celie in the original, is cast as a midwife who helps young Celie, played by Phylicia Pearl Mpasi, give birth to her second child. The role is brief but has delighted audiences in previews.
Oprah Winfrey, who starred alongside Goldberg in the original and is a producer on the new film, told The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview that Goldberg was cast in part for fan reaction.

Whoopi Goldberg’s Breakthrough as Celie in The Color Purple The journey of Whoopi Goldberg into the annals of Hollywood is incomplete without mentioning her breakthrough role as Celie in The Color Purple. This film, which tells the story of life for African-American women in the Southern United States, presented Goldberg in a light that was both harrowing and transformative. As Celie, she encapsulated the essence of a woman who, after being forced to marry Albert Johnson, endures decades of abuse. Albert physically, sexually, verbally, and emotionally abuses Celie from roughly 1907 through the 1930s. This role not only showcased Whoopi’s...

After what was reportedly a chaotic scene as Trump testified in court on Monday, the hosts of “The View” are a bit stunned that the disgraced ex-president wasn’t held in contempt for his actions.
Discussing Trump’s behavior on Tuesday morning, moderator Whoopi Goldberg first mocked the complaints of Trump’s lawyer, pretending to weep for her. But, really digging into the matter, Whoopi and her cohosts were once again convinced that there’s a double standard in play for Trump.
“Everybody in this audience knows, had we ever said or done anything like this to a judge in court? We would be underneath,” Whoopi said. “Americans, regardless of what their belief system is, don’t like a double standard.”
Meanwhile, host Sunny Hostin, a former federal prosecutor herself, was simply stunned that Trump’s behavior was allowed at all.

Things got pretty intense when Leslie Jones stopped by “The View” on Monday — so much so that host Whoopi Goldberg actually flicked some water out of her own mug to calm the comedian down at one point.
That point came at the very end of Jones’ appearance, in which she explained why she’s started covering more political topics in her comedy. Jones admitted that, prior to being a cast member on “SNL,” she wasn’t all that informed about politics and was a bit stunned as she continued to learn. So, she wants to make those topics palatable for people.
“I feel like when I’m commentating and live tweeting and stuff, I am talking from y’all perspective,” Jones explained. “Listen to me very closely, politicians! ‘Cause you know what’s going on. There’s a lot of people that don’t understand what’s going on.”
Jones broke things down even further,...

Alyssa Farah Griffin knows that not everyone will always agree with her takes on “The View.” But, if she ever gets to a point where she’s saying objectively crazy things, she simply wants to be dragged away from the table, and taken outside “Old Yeller style.”
The ABC host admitted that during Wednesday’s episode, as she and her co-hosts discussed the downfall of Tucker Carlson, particularly as laid out in CNN host Brian Stelter’s new book. According to Stelter’s reporting, Carlson was fired not just because he spread conspiracy theories and misinformation, but also because he “thought he was untouchable,” as Whoopi explained it.
For Alyssa Farah Griffin, that particular nugget was the most interesting facet, seemingly indicating that Carlson said and did things simply because he felt he could.

As always, the hosts of “The View” went all out with their Halloween costumes on Tuesday, this year celebrating their parent network. In honor of the Disney100 celebration, the women hosted the day’s show dressed as their favorite Disney characters.
Granted, the episode started in a fairly spooky way. In the opening minutes, viewers were treated to footage of a horse strutting up to the studio, ridden by none other than The Headless Horseman — er, in this case, Horsewoman.
As the episode kicked off in earnest, it was revealed that host Whoopi Goldberg opted to go with the Headless Horseman as her costume..
You can see photos of the women in costume below.

Though Whoopi started the show as the Headless Horseman, her actual costume came from “Toy Story 2.” She arrived on stage as Tour Guide Barbie.

Alyssa Farah Griffin wasn’t overly pleased on “The View” on Thursday, as she started getting played off to commercial mid-sentence. But when her co-hosts encouraged her to finish the thought, she simply stopped altogether, saying she still “had a lot more to say.”
The moment came as the women were discussing Wednesday night’s second GOP debate, which they largely agreed was “a dumpster fire.” Farah Griffin argued that the whole exercise “felt like people all vying for second place,” but added that she thought Nikki Haley made some real, good points.
Her co-hosts disagreed on Haley though, saying that she — like most of the candidates on stage — didn’t provide any real substance on policies or plans. Farah Griffin steadfastly defended Haley though, but not as completely as she’d have liked.
“You can disagree, but she offered substance,” Farah Griffin said. “She had statistics, the biggest issue I hear –”

A new poll from ABC and The Washington Post has President Biden losing by a significant margin in a Trump rematch in 2024, but “The View” host Ana Navarro is pretty sure that’s only because people involved in the poll were stoned. Of course, that assertion forced Sunny Hostin to have to give an unexpected legal note on Monday’s episode of the ABC talk show.
According to the new poll, Trump has 51% of Americans’ support, while Biden only has 42%. Those numbers mark a 3-point increase for Trump and 2-point decrease for Biden from an ABC/Post poll in February (though ABC notes that those shifts are “not statistically significant”).
“I don’t know what happened with this ABC poll. I don’t know if the people asking the questions were high, or the people answering the questions were high,” Ana Navarro joked. “But somebody has got to have been...

Yes, Whoopi Goldberg believes in both the extraterrestrial and supernatural. No, it’s not because she starred in massively popular projects surrounding both things, contrary to what her co-hosts think.
During Thursday’s Hot Topics discussion, the women discussed testimony heard by Congress this week, in which multiple former Air Force members testified that they had firsthand experience with extraterrestrial encounters. And while most of the table was skeptical about it, Whoopi sure wasn’t.
“I don’t know why everybody else is so surprised!” she said. “We’re not the only ones in the universe. We’re just not!”
As the discussion continued, her co-hosts argued that, assuming there actually are aliens out there, there should be concern over whether they’re more like those of “Alien” or “E.T.” But, Whoopi maintained that, if aliens were hostile, we’d know by now.

Twice-indicted former President Donald Trump informed the public on Tuesday morning that he’s likely facing a third indictment, after receiving a new target letter over the weekend. Naturally, the hosts of “The View” were thoroughly amused by that, joking that at this point it’s basically regularly scheduled programming.
Though it’s not known exactly what charges Trump would be facing this time around, he did note in his Truth Social announcement that the target letter specifically identified him for Special Counsel Jack Smith’s ongoing investigation into Jan. 6.
“It’s almost like a weekly TV show,” Whoopi Goldberg joked to kick off the discussion on Tuesday. Joy Behar titled that fake show “Indictment du jour,” prompting Whoopi to echo, “Indicted du jour.”

“The View” will continue on amid Hollywood’s now-double strike, but moderator Whoopi Goldberg made it clear on Monday morning that she and her co-hosts are “backing everybody up.”
Monday marked the first live show since SAG joined the WGA on strike, as the ABC talk show typically pre-records their Friday episodes during the summer months. To kick off the episode, moderator Whoopi Goldberg explained why she and her co-hosts are still at the table, despite Whoopi herself being a SAG member.
“Like the soap operas and game shows and news shows, we work under a different kind of contract which is called the network code which means that we are allowed to continue on,” she explained. “As we’re not actors at the table acting ‘The View,’ it’s a different kind of context. So that’s why we’re still able to work.”

Meghan McCain is recalling her time on The View and says she feels validated after listening to Rosie O’Donnell saying she wouldn’t return to the talk show either.
“Rosie O’Donnell and I probably don’t agree on much. But here we’re in sync. There is nothing on God’s green earth that could convince me to ever walk on to that set again,” McCain wrote in her Daily Mail column.
McCain was responding to O’Donnell’s appearance on the Now What? with Brooke Shields podcast where the Now and Then star Whoopi Goldberg squashed certain topics from being discussed on the air, like the sexual assault allegations against Bill Cosby.
Although McCain says she’s “always hesitant to rehash” her experience on the show that “ended in a complete disaster” she wrote in her column that she “was also pushed off topics that I thought were newsworthy by show producers.

There are exactly six people who have officially declared their candidacy for president in 2024 at this point, and the hosts of “The View” aren’t impressed by any of them.
To kick off Thursday morning’s Hot Topics discussion on ABC, the women first focused on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has yet to officially say he’s running for president but is largely expected to do so.
“You know, a lot of his policies aren’t even going over well with other Republicans,” Whoopi pointed out. “So his presidential hopes are, you know, kind of looking interesting.”
But looking at the actual candidate pool at large, the women of “The View” didn’t see any true contenders. Most recently, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. declared he’s running as a Democrat for president in 2024, and Alyssa Farah Griffin and Joy Behar were quick to point out that he’s “looney tunes.
