Four new funny variant comic cover illustrations have been released for Marvel's 75th anniversary. They are classic covers that have been awesomely photobombed by Deadpool.
The new art features the jerk with a mouth interrupting the famous moments of covers like "Captain America" #1, "Amazing Spider-Man" #33, "Not Brand Echh" #5 (posing as Forbush Man) and "Secret Wars" #4. The new images can be found in October on variants for "Captain America" #25 by John Tyler Christopher, "Amazing Spider-Man" #7 by Michael Golden, "Winter Soldier" #1 by Dan Panosian and "Ms. Marvel" #9 by Paul Renaud, respectively.
Deadpool is one of Marvel's most fun characters, and this whole photobomb thing was a great idea to celebrate 75 years of Marvel entertainment. After each Deadpool cover, I included the original that it's based on.

This is the time of year when the ComicMix crew starts to firm up our attendance at various comic conventions in the year ahead. It’s a frustrating process because there are a lot of shows and we can’t go to all the ones we’d like to attend.
It also makes me really angry.
Last year was the first in a long time that I went to a bunch of cons. It was fascinating and fun most of the time, but annoying at others. Twenty years after we started Friends of Lulu, there are still remarkably few women invited to be guests at the shows.
This is odd, because there are a lot of women working in the industry, and (capitalists take note) even more buying comics and tickets to cons. Wouldn’t show organizers like to demonstrate to this market segment that they are welcome and valued?...

As Akira Kurosawa is to Star Wars, George Lucas is to The Micronauts: Bill Mantlo and Michael Golden’s 1979 comic series that was based on a toy line. The story goes that Mantlo saw the toys in a store and somehow convinced Marvel’s Jim Shooter to pursue the license for them. The toys, whose gimmick was that all the parts of the figures and sets were interchangeable, were also pretty free of any backstory. A Japanese import, the Micronaut toys really had no story beyond that there were good guys, there were bad guys, and they fought. That combined with the ability to swap parts were everything they had before Mantlo and Golden got their hands on them. With this blank slate, Bill Mantlo was determined to recreate Star Wars while Golden tweaked the designs of the toys to recast Star Wars as superheroes and supervillains.

October can mean only one thing in the Dallas, TX area for thousands of comic book, movie, and TV fans. It's time for the annual Dallas Fan Days event at the Irving Convention Center. Every year the geek gathering continues to grow with an ever-increasing variety of comic book writers and artists and media celebrities. 2013 looks to top all the past years and raise the bar for local conventions across all genres.
Dallas Fan Days once catered strictly to Star Wars and Star Trek fans. However, it continues to broaden its horizons by featuring guests this year from movies and TV shows like Arrow, Hellboy, Pacific Rim, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Friday the 13th, The Walking Dead, and Napoleon Dynamite to name a few. It's a guarantee that there's someone for any enthusiast of every genre to meet or see.
There are way too many guests to go into detail for each of them.

All the single issues are out and now it's time to make way for the inevitable deluxe editions of the Before Watchmen titles. DC Comics quite possibly could sell more copies of these hardcover collections than they did the individual issues. After all, anyone who bought the singles are going to want to have them next to the Watchmen book on their library shelf. On top of that, there are plenty of people out there who put off buying the weekly titles because they were too hard to keep up with.
Before Watchmen: Minutemen / Silk Spectre Deluxe Edition contains all six issues of Darwyn Cooke's back-stories for the team of super heroes that inspired the Watchmen to form. Cooke then pairs up with artist Amanda Conner for four issues to tell the tale of Laurie Jupiter's journey in taking up the costumed crime fighting life her mother left as a legacy to her.
