Netflix Animation held its first slate preview event June 6 at the Tudum in L.A., as a lead-up to the Annecy Animation Festival (June 9-15), where it will premiere Shannon Tindle’s “Ultraman: Rising” (streaming June 14) and tout some of its upcoming works in 2024 and 2025.
Hosted by Christopher Sean (the voice star of “Ultraman: Rising”), attendees were treated to exclusive presentations, previews, and special announcements. The biggest announcement was the full title of Aardman’s next stop-motion feature, “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl,” which will have an Oscar-qualifying run this winter before streaming in 2025.
Directed by franchise creator Nick Park and creative director Merlin Crossingham, who offered a pre-recorded introduction, “Vengeance Most Fowl” marks the return of the villainous penguin, Feathers McGraw, from the Oscar-winning short “The Wrong Trousers.” The film is a cautionary tale of high-tech gone wrong involving an out-of-control “smart gnome” with a mind of its own.

Cool Cats is making history this November. The feline Nft collection will have its own float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and its characters are the stars of a new animated web series called The Milk Chug.
Ethereum-based Cool Cats is a 9,999-piece collection based on the Blue Cat character created by artist Colin Egan. Each Cool Cat features a randomly generated design, but the identity of the brand’s parade float is already known. On the morning of November 23, gigantic depictions of the Blue Cat and Chugs characters will hover above the streets of New York City as the first Nft-inspired participants in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Cool Cats will not be the first digital media brand to participate in Macy’s 99-year-old holiday tradition. In recent years, characters like the Ryan’s World Red Titan have floated across Manhattan. Macy’s even experimented with its own Nft collection,...

“Trolls Band Together,” the third chapter in the DreamWorks Animation franchise, gets psychedelic with the introduction of new worlds and characters, helped along by some trippy 2D animation from Titmouse. It’s a musical tribute to ’90s boy bands, fittingly enough, as Justin Timberlake’s Branch reunites with his long-lost brothers (known as the family band BroZone): Floyd (Troye Sivan), John Dory (Eric André), Spruce (Daveed Diggs), and Clay (Kid Cudi).
But Floyd is kidnapped by pop-star siblings Velvet (Amy Schumer) and Veneer (Andrew Rannells) as part of their nefarious musical scheme.
“With Justin and boy bands as part of the DNA of the Troll universe, it felt like a natural extension, and also, musically and visually, it’s more psychedelic,” director Walt Dohrn (“Trolls World Tour”) told IndieWire. “If you can see my room, I live in a kaleidoscopic, Technicolor, psychedelic world. When it was first announced that Paramount+ was rebooting Mike Judge's beloved animated series, "Beavis and Butt-Head," fans of the original series were rightfully concerned that bringing everyone's favorite MTV buffoons into the current era was a recipe for disaster. And yet, after the wildly successful "Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe," Judge effortlessly incorporated his horny, mouth-breathing, lovable losers into the 2020s.
The first season of the "Beavis and Butt-Head" reboot was, quite honestly, the absolute best possible outcome. The structure of the series didn't change at all, instead evolved to better reflect our current times. The characters still end up in nonsensical adventures like getting trapped in a bathroom thinking it's part of an escape room (or enacting revenge on some raccoons for eating their nachos) and still have the interspersed asides of commenting on whatever is on TV. Instead of focusing primarily on music videos as...

If Baz Luhrmann as a version of the King of Rock’n’Roll you’ve definitely never seen before. Check out the trailer below:
Yep, in Agent Elvis, Presley isn’t just the ‘Hound Dog’ crooner – he’s also a super spy for the American government, as quick with a John Wick-worthy pencil takedown as a shake of the hips. And just for proof you’re not hallucinating, here’s the show’s batshit official logline: “Elvis Presley trades in his jumpsuit for a jet pack when he is covertly inducted into a secret government spy program to battle the dark forces that threaten the country he loves – all while holding down his day job as the King of Rock and Roll.” So this Elvis is A Little Less Conversation, a little more action.

The series is based on the Caldecott and Newbery Award-winning four-book series by Arnold Lobel published by HarperCollins Children’s Books.
Per Apple: Frog is a frog. Toad is a toad. They have a lot in common… but they are also very different. The Critical Role crew swings back into hilarious, perilous and profanity-laced fantasy action with the Season 2 debut of “The Legend of Vox Machina” on Friday, Jan. 20, on Prime Video.
As with the first season, Prime Video will release Season 2 of the Dungeons & Dragons-inspired show in three-episode weekly batches, culminating in 12 episodes total. In the new series, the Vox Machina heroes/antiheroes face off against a powerful foursome of dragons called the Chroma Conclave, which spew ice and acid, have nearly impenetrable armor and threaten to destroy the world of Exandria.
For Season 1 of “Vox Machina,” the eight principal Critical Role members (who each also serve as executive producers) needed to provide a healthy dose of exposition. That was in large part to bring viewers unfamiliar with the motley band of adventurers — based on Critical Role’s original D&d campaign, which dates back to 2015 — up to speed.
