- Famous singer in the 1970's and early 1980's, he became an infamous personality in Brazilian culture when he shot and killed his wife Eliane de Grammont in 1981, after allegedly finding out she was having an affair with his cousin - even though the couple was separated since 1980. The case outraged society and feminist movements who demanded his conviction; and with those actions, in 1984 he was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Paroled in 1988, he was finally released in 1996 but never returned to the music industry - but gained new notoriety when his classic bolero "Você É Doida Demais" was used as the opening theme of TV series "Os Normais" in the early 2000's.
