Damn. it was a good year for music.
It didn’t always feel that way, though. While Kendrick Lamar’s aforementioned fourth studio album -- which hit like a meteor on the Friday before the rapper’s monster set to close out Coachella -- much of 2017 was defined by growers rather than out of the gate jams and much of the summer passed without a bona fide “Song of” said season. (Barely. More on that in a second.)
Really, it's only on looking back at the cavalcade of "Best Of" lists that footnote every year that you realize how full of noteworthy sounds 2017 in particular was. And now, with the nearly ubiquitous acceptance of streaming as the primary method of song consumption, not only is the roster of artists who find both large audiences and critical acclaim more diverse and democratized than ever, but the entire idea of a publication-determined "Best Music of the Year" feels almost silly. Haim is making all our Hanukkah dreams come true.
The band took to Twitter on Tuesday, the first day of the holiday, to share a snippet of their own Hannukah song, announcing that they were coming after Adam Sandler's Hanukkah throne.
Sandler, of course, is responsible for one of the most famous Hannukah songs, "The Hanukkah Song," which became a classic after he performed it on Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update in 1994. Few -- if any -- have come close to topping the hit since, but with references to latkes, Manischewitz, the Torah and menorahs, we think the Haim sisters are definitely onto something.
Check out their video, which they appropriate captioned, "first night of haimukkah ✡️ sandler we’re coming for you," below.
Este, Danielle and Alana Haim recently got a little support from their pal, Taylor Swift, who wore a Haim-themed holiday sweater during rehearsals for iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball in Los Angeles earlier this month...

Melissa McCarthy rolled through Midtown Manhattan Friday morning on a segway-esque podium, naturally, as her famous Saturday Night Live character, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. The live prank comes just before her hosting the next episode of SNL.
On Friday, McCarthy was photographed and videotaped yelling at cars from her motorized podium. This week, the real Spicer noticeably missed this week's press briefings due to previously scheduled Navy Reserve duties, according CNN, via the White House.

Melissa McCarthy is just brimming with confidence these days… even when she’s playing the most maligned man in the country.
The actress is hosting this week’s Saturday Night Live, and in the new promo above, she glides through Studio 8H in a flowing pink blouse, lip-syncing along to the West Side Story classic “I Feel Pretty.” And she keeps the song going even as she enters the makeup chair and gets transformed by cast members Mikey Day, Melissa Villaseñor and Alex Moffat into… embattled White House press secretary Sean Spicer. (McCarthy has already played “Spicey” three times this season on SNL.

Saturday Night Live spoofed dystopian series The Handmaid's Tale by criticizing hollow social protesting in a sketch with Chris Pine. The Wonder Woman actor played one of several hard-partying bros who are shocked – but only half-heartedly concerned – about the plight of their former "girl squad."

Last Episode’S Review: Live In Every Time Zone, It’s Jimmy Fallon
Last night, for just the second time in series history, “Saturday Night Live” went live in all U.S./Canadian time zones. First-time host and card-carrying member of the Hunky Chris Squad Chris Pine anchored the broadcast, which makes him the only “SNL” novice NBC tapped for the season’s fully live gigs. (Veteran hosts Melissa McCarthy and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson are due up next.) Whether it’s for novelty, timing or ratings, there’s something undeniably magical about the live-live show, so does it really matter how Chris Pine and his sweet baby blues fared? Well, yes, actually. But we’re in luck: He crushed it.

The show must go on – until a strike is officially called. [Update — No strike!]
That was the word from inside TV’s late night talk shows and series, which continued to operate, business as usual, even as the possibility of a work stoppage on May 2 loomed large.
That has meant continuing to book guests, produce taped packages and plan for series road trips – all of which might not happen should the Writers Guild negotiating committee call for a strike.
“We’ll see what happens and take it from there,” said “The Late Late Show with James Corden” executive producer Ben Winston. ” We support the writers, we hope the strike doesn’t happen, because we want to carry on working and making a show. It’s concern for us. I think any decision on what we do, we’ll wait and hope it doesn’t happen and hope that everything works out.”
