ABC has canceled Hilary Swank-led drama series Alaska Daily after one season. The news is not surprising as the freshman series was not able to establish itself and find a sizable following.
From Tom McCarthy, the series follows fiercely talented and award-winning investigative journalist Eileen Fitzgerald (Swank) who leaves her high-profile New York life behind after a fall from grace to join a daily metro newspaper in Anchorage on a journey to find both personal and professional redemption.
As a reporter for a local metro newspaper, Eileen is investigating a cold case stacked with missing indigenous women with scarce details in desperate need of fresh eyes. The dark spaces where she has to investigate reveal the city’s seedy underbelly that could prove to be dangerous for Eileen as she begins to uncover secrets many would rather stay buried.

Exclusive: Peter Elkoff has joined newly ordered ABC/20th Television drama series Alaska, headlined by Hilary Swank, as executive producer and showrunner. For the past two seasons, the seasoned TV writer-producer served as executive producer and co-showrunner on another 20th TV drama series, Fox’s The Resident. Fellow exec producer/co-showrunner Andrew Chapman will be the sole showrunner for the medical drama’s upcoming sixth season.
Alaska, created by Spotlight filmmaker Tom McCarthy, who wrote and directed the pilot, emerged as an early front-runner at ABC this pilot season, making the search for a showrunner a big priority for the studio. With The Resident on the bubble as renewal negotiations between Fox and 20th TV went down to the wire, Elkoff was approached about Alaska and took the job with the 20th TV’s blessing.

The Weinstein Company (TWC) has closed the deal on rights to screenwriter April Prosser’s comedy Plus One.
Gloria Sanchez Productions, the division of Gary Sanchez Productions dedicated to female-driven film and TV projects, will produce with executives Jessica Elbaum, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay taking lead.
This will mark the second feature to go into development for Prosser, whose screenplay The One That Got Away landed her on the 2012 Black List and is being produced by Mason Novick and directed by Ari Sandel at Amazon Studios.
TWC’s Julie Rapaport and Melissa Wells will oversee production on Plus One, about a newly single woman who finds a wing women in a loud, sexually candid wild card.

'Plus One' will be produced by Gloria Sanchez Productions, which is dedicated to female-driven film and TV projects, alongside executives Jessica Elbaum, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. This is Prosser's second screenplay to enter development, as her 2012 Black Listed script "The One That Got Away" is currently in production via Amazon Studios. Weinstein's Julia Rapaport and Melissa Wells will oversee "Plus One." Here's the synopsis: In "Plus One," Rachel comes out of a long-term relationship only to realize all her friends have married off and there’s no one single left to go out with…except Summer, the loud, sexually-oversharing wild card who is now Rachel’s only option for a wing woman. Harvey Weinstein says Prosser is a "talented up-and-comer" and that "female-driven comedies continue to be a tremendously exciting force in film these days." Weinstein has a solid slate of Fall 2014 films led by women:...

One morning, he meets Nicholas Lemarchand (Vincent Regan), who tells Edward that he’s a mediator, but as the hallucinations get worse for him through the day, Edward starts seeing him Nicholas more and more in unexpected places, and when security footage suggests the mediator doesn’t even exist, Edward starts to get more and more suspicious of the strange man whilst falling further and further into his twisted imagination.
