Martin McDonagh, the director of “In Bruges” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” will direct his next film at Searchlight Pictures, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
The untitled film reunites him with both Disney’s Searchlight after the Oscar-nominated “Three Billboards” and also the UK-based production company Film4, with whom McDonagh has worked on all four of his films.
McDonagh’s new project is set on a remote Irish isle where two lifelong friends find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship, with alarming consequences for the both of them. No cast has yet been set for the film, but production is expected to begin later this year.

McDonagh will write, direct and produce, and Graham Broadbent and Peter Czernin will also produce via their banner Blueprint Pictures.

Martin McDonagh is gearing up to return to filmmaking two years after his last project, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” dominated the Oscars with six nominations and two wins: Best Actress for Frances McDormand and Best Supporting Actor for Sam Rockwell.
