As expected, Almost Family won't be returning for a second season. The low-rated Fox TV show has been cancelled after one season of 13 episodes.

As we previously teased earlier this year, Fox has canceled Almost Family after one season.
Almost Family stared Brittany Snow, Tim Hutton, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Emily Osment, Mo McRae, Mustafa Elzein, and Victoria Cartagena.
The series focused on Julia Bechley (Snow) whose world turned upside down. She learns that her father, Doctor Leon Benchley (Hutton), a pioneer in fertility, secretly used his own sperm to father over a hundred children.
While still coming to terms with this revelation, Julia discovers that she has two new half-sisters — her former best friend, Edie Palmer (Echikunwoke), and ex-Olympic athlete Roxy Doyle (Osment).
Almost Family Season 1 is averaging just 1.5 million viewers and a 0.4 rating, with the most recent episode coming in at just 0.8 million viewers and a 0.2 rating.
Even before those ratings, the show was losing a significant chunk of The Masked Singer's ratings, meaning that it was earmarked for cancellation shortly after it premiered.

The fertility clinic has officially closed: Fox has cancelled the drama Almost Family after just one season, TVLine has confirmed.
Almost Family starred Timothy Hutton as a famous fertility doctor who used his own sperm to fertilize dozens of patients; Brittany Snow co-starred as the doctor’s daughter, who connected with two of her newfound half-sisters, played by Emily Osment and Megalyn Echikunwoke. The cast also included Mo McRae, Mustafa Elzein and Victoria Cartagena. (The decision by Fox comes as serious allegations have arisen against Hutton, with a woman accusing Hutton and his friend of raping her in 1983.)

“Almost Family” will not be returning for a second season on Fox.
The series starred Timothy Hutton, against whom an allegation of rape has recently come to light, as a fertility doctor who used his own sperm to conceive more than 100 children over the course of his career. Fox had moved the series to Saturday from its regular Wednesday time slot in mid-January, a pretty obvious signal it was unlikely to last more than 13 episodes.
Brittany Snow starred as one of the aforementioned offspring who united her half siblings, including Megalyn Echikunwoke and Emily Osment, to try and deal with issues that have been affecting their lives. Mustafa Elzein, Mo McRae, and Victoria Cartagena also starred.

The Timothy Hutton and Brittany Snow-led drama “Almost Family” has been canceled by Fox after one season, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap Monday.
Executive produced by Jason Katims and Annie Weisman, “Almost Family” followed Julia Bechley (Snow), who finds out her father Leon (Hutton), a prize-winning fertility doctor, used his own genetic material to conceive upwards of dozens of children. Following that revelation, Julia discovers she has two new sisters: her former best friend Edie Palmer (Megalyn Echikunwoke) and ex-Olympic athlete Roxy Doyle (Emily Osment).
News of “Almost Family’s” cancellation came hours after BuzzFeed News published a story in which 50-year-old Canadian model and actress Sera Johnston accused Hutton of raping her in a Vancouver hotel room back in 1983, when she was 14 years old.

In its first two installments, that’s the case for Fox’s new drama “Almost Family,” a show whose attempts to introduce tonal variation and lightness only emphasize how gruesome is the story at its center. “Almost Family” strives to be a drama about a woman (Brittany Snow) who discovers as an adult that she has several half-siblings whom she has to build bonds with as an adult, and to investigate what the concept of family truly means. Glinting out from behind every moment of tentative connection is the gross fact that her siblings come from her father’s inseminating women, without their consent, with his own genetic material to create his own descendants, a decision that’s neither endorsed nor decried by the series.

Fox’s new fall series Almost Family is about an only child finds her life turned upside down when her father reveals that, over the course of his prize-winning career as a pioneering fertility doctor, he used his own sperm to conceive upwards of a hundred children, including two new sisters. As these three young women slowly embrace their new reality, they will attempt to form an untraditional bond as sisters, even as they must welcome a tidal wave of new siblings into their rapidly expanding family.
“The origin of wanting to tell this story came from this idea that we’re living in a world now where widely available genetic testing just makes it possible for people to suddenly discover that the story of who they are is not the real story,” said writer and executive Annie Weisman during the show’s turn on the TCA stage today. “I...

We already knew going into the 2019-20 season that there would be some big changes at Fox.
With the network becoming an independent network, it was evident there would be some big swings.
Empire, which has spent its first five seasons on Wednesdays is being moved to Tuesdays for its final (!) season.
It will be paired with The Resident, which is leaving its Monday at 8/7c slot.

The Masked Singer will fill in for Empire on Wednesdays and will lead into Jason Katims' new drama, Not Just Me.

Four new dramas, a live-action comedy, and an animated comedy currently please Fox. Let's take a looks at the dramas!
A serial killer drama titled Prodigal Son, an AI drama called Next, a police drama titled Deputy, and an adaptation of Australian drama Sisters have all gotten series orders.
Considered a good companion piece to the recently renewed Empire, sudser Filthy Rich starring Kim Cattrall is still in contention and deals are underway.
Deptuty comes from Will Beall and eOne and Fox Entertainment studios. Deputy stars Stephen Dorff and is a modern cop drama that blends the spirit of a classic Western with a modern-day attitude and gritty authenticity.

The New Fox is ramping up for the 2019-2020 season with six new series pick ups.
The broadcaster handed out orders for four dramas — “Deputy,” “Prodigal Son,” “neXt,” and the untitled Annie Weisman/Jason Katims project — as well as two comedies. One of the comedies is the animated series “The Great North” and the second is the multi-cam “Outmatched,” formerly known as “Geniuses.” These orders join the previously announced straight-to-series orders for the animated comedies “Duncanville” and “Bless the Harts” at Fox.
Each of the newly announced pick ups is a co-production with Fox Entertainment (formerly Fox Broadcasting). The move will allow Fox to maintain a stake in the shows despite not having a vertically-integrated studio like they did before the 21st Century Fox-Disney merger that saw 20th Century Fox Television move under the Disney umbrella. Both “Duncanville” and “Bless the Harts” are co-productions as well. “Duncanville” is produced by Universal Television,...

Elzein joins previously announced cast members Brittany Snow, Megalyn Echikunwoke, and Timothy Hutton.
The pilot is based on the Australian series “Sisters.” In the Fox project, only child Julia Bechley (Snow) has her life turned upside down when it’s revealed that her father, a pioneering Nobel Prize-winning fertility doctor (Hutton), used his own sperm to conceive dozens of children over the course of his career. Reeling from this explosive revelation, Julia discovers two new sisters — her former best friend (Echikunwoke) and an ex-Olympic athlete. Against all odds, the women attempt to form an untraditional family and lean on each other as they grapple with their own identity crises.
