Corporate Espionage is, in this day and age, very much a real threat. Director Amos Why, in his sophomore feature “Napping Kid”, tries to convince us that corporate kidnapping is as well. Based on a novel of the same name by Hong Kong/Canadian author Mannshin, “Napping Kid” is a timely film that shows us just how much is at stake with digital files, while offering a look at the current state of Hong Kong society.
Tong is a hard cop who believes in getting results any way he can. He is called to the company where his ex-wife Irene works as a senior executive when a highly sensitive document consisting of financial analysis for a Chinese It company is “stolen” from their database. Shortly after, Irene’s boss receives an email from one K Kidnapper asking for a surprisingly low ransom, along with a series of tasks that he wants the company to undertake.

The latest short film by Quentin Lee, On Halloween, pays homage to spooky classics of the past with a few clever twists of its own. Lee has made a variety of features, ranging from the emotional drama Ethan Mao to the teen trauma of White Frog to the fizzy romance of The People I've Slept With. He's explored horror before in his graphic novel Campus Ghost Story and this year's The Unbidden, and On Halloween delves again into terror territory. Candy Cheung stars as a babysitter and Jerry Hernandez (Ethan Mao) is her boyfriend who visits her when she's 'on the job' caring for an infant, played by Quentin Lee's son Junyi Casper Lee. We are pleased to present a first look at Quentin Lee's new short film On Halloween, starring Candy Cheung, Jerry Hernandez and Junyi Casper Lee, the latter making his screen debut as ... the baby. Here's a quick description: "An homage to the 1979 classic When a Stranger Calls, On Halloween explores babysitting and child endangerment with modern technology." Lee raised money for the movie via Kickstarter this summer and it's finished just in time for the scariest holiday of the year.
