If you love the 1980s – specifically, the neon-lit, Talking Heads-blaring, Delboy swagger of the 1980s Cockney – then Sky’s new crime thriller A Town Called Malice is right up your street.
Meet the Lords
Created by The Sweeney’s Nick Love, this eight-part drama centres on the Lord family, a South London gang whose criminal heyday might be behind them, but who are still up for causing trouble. After a spot of bother with a rival gang (and leaving a policeman for dead), they flee to Spain’s Costa del Sol to lay low, and in amongst the pina coladas and palm trees realise they have a chance to recapture their former glory and become criminal top dogs once more.
The series premiered on Sky Max at 9pm on Thursday 16th March, and the full box-set is already available to watch on Now.

It’s difficult to imagine modern superhero cinema without Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. His performance was universally judged to be one of the best things about 2000’s X-Men, with Fox’s X-Universe acting as a rough prototype for the McU. Jackman’s Wolverine was a near-constant presence throughout those movies, with his final turn in Logan proving to studios that an R-rated superhero film aimed at adults could be successful, thus helping pave the way for Joker.
But it all could have been so different. Dougray Scott was originally offered the part, only for him to realize that the shooting of X-Men would slightly overlap with Mission: Impossible II. Ordinarily, these kinds of clashes are resolved, with shooting schedules allowing actors to begin one film while finishing up another. But standing in the way was Tom Cruise, and Scott recently explained in an interview with The Telegraph exactly how it...

Okay, so here’s the thing. This month I wanted to find a good deep cut from the great Tom Atkins, whose charm and mustache thrilled us throughout the ’80s, even as he played a lecherous doctor, a kinda lecherous resident of a quaint seaside town, and a caustic cop haunted by his past (who I assume was also a lech). So when I dove into his filmography in search of a lesser-known vehicle, I perked up when I found the 1980 psychological drama The Ninth Configuration.
Alas, after watching the film, it turns out that Atkins has a relatively minor role, but there’s no way I could skip this movie, as it features a Murderers’ Row of horror character actor royalty. And so I figured, since baseball season did just start...*Puts on best Bob Uecker voice from Major League.*
Well, hello there, horror fans! And welcome to another...

Good news for the 60 percent of you who voted in favor of a Batwoman series: The CW has officially handed a pilot order to the project, which stars Orange Is the New Black‘s Ruby Rose in the title role. Rose’s Batwoman debuted in last month’s multi-part Arrowverse crossover event “Elseworlds.”
The CW also announced that Arrow/Flash vet David Nutter will direct the pilot.
Slated for a potential Fall 2019 premiere, Batwoman would follow Kate Kane — the second incarnation of the Batwoman character in DC Comics lore, introduced in 2006 — who is described as “an out lesbian and highly...
