Marvel Studios being forced to split its attention between movies, streaming, and animation has resulted in the Multiverse Saga being a little messy. Now, they're making moves to fix that and we're expecting a big slate update to head our way later this summer.
As we write this, Avengers 5 is fast approaching and some lingering issues need to be addressed.
With Kevin Feige unable to give every movie and TV show his full attention, a handful of ideas have slipped through the cracks which haven't worked. In this feature, we're touching on some of the most noteworthy, explaining why they need to be fixed or undone as we head into the later stages of this Saga.
To take a look at them, you'll just need to tap on the "Next"/"View List" buttons below...

After being handed out to attendees earlier today, an official version of the Ccxp Mexico Deadpool and Wolverine poster has been shared online.
The new artwork leans into the Wade Wilson's "Marvel Jesus" delusion, depicting the Merc With a Mouth (with Dogpool), Logan, Vanessa, Colossus and Blind Al on some church candles.
In addition, we're hearing that a theatre-exclusive version of the recent full trailer features some new dialogue, with Deadpool making a Paul Rudd age joke when the Giant-Man helmet visor raises to reveal Scott Lang's skull.

One of the easiest ways to measure someone’s success is to count all the pop culture references that others make to them. In the case of Stephen King, they would probably hit a three-digit number, considering how many TV shows, movies, and other novel authors have been using King’s plots as an inspiration.
If you are interested to see 10 of the most popular TV shows that referred to King one way or the other, check out the list below.
Lost (2004-2010)
Heavily influenced by King's writing, Lost had no shortage of references and easter eggs to the author within the show. The most obvious are season 3 Juliet's choice of Carrie as a book club entry, and the future version of Jack reading a newspaper clipping with words like "Ted," "the Tower," and "beam" in it, all references to Stephen King's The Dark Tower.

An era that began in 2008 with the release of the first Iron Man is coming to a close. Then we had character introductions, the 2012 Avengers, endless comic book arcs on Earth-616, ending with the confrontation with Thanos and the beginning of the Multiverse.
Some prefer to use the umbrella term 'The Infinity Saga' as applied to the period from 2008 to 2019, but we would like to discuss a broader time period that is essentially unfinished. After all, some characters and their portrayers who were introduced long before Endgame are still involved in the MCU.
Under such circumstances, one of the longest-lived sub-franchises is Ant Man, which is technically still going on, and Paul Rudd's character is likely to return more than once. But what about the original Ant Man, Dr. Hank Pym, played by the excellent Michael Douglas, who has been in the MCU since 2015?

2023 may yet be remembered as the year the superhero movie died. Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" was released in February 2023 and was the first notable comic book-based bomb of the year. The film was notoriously re-jiggered throughout its production, with massive and expensive SFX being finalized up to the last minute. The official budget ballooned to $200 million, although separate reports have pegged the price tag as being closer to that of Disney's notorious box office misfire "John Carter" (which cost $263 million to make). "Quantumania" still grossed $464 million, but that's considered low for a Marvel movie.
Throughout 2023, more bombs dropped as superhero movies either lost money or were considered disappointments. "Shazam! Fury of the Gods," "The Flash," "Blue Beetle," "The Marvels," and "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" all tanked, and while many went to see "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3," it felt like the last kick in a closing series.

Michael Douglas didn’t have much to do in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, at least not until the whole deus ex machina ant army thing towards the end. It feels like his part was majorly scaled back. Could Hank Pym have been meant to die in the 2023 sequel?
The Spartacus spawn spoke with Entertainment Weekly this week and expanded on Pym’s fate in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the character is alive and well within the main timeline and in the What If…? Universe, Douglas says he wanted the original Ant-Man to meet his end in Quantumania:
“I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects. There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is. I want to use all those effects. But, that was on the last one. Now,...

Michael Douglas had a request for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania: He wanted his character to die.
The Oscar-winning actor stopped by The View on Thursday to promote his new Apple TV+ series, Franklin. During the conversation, he was asked about his comments to The Hollywood Reporter about wanting his character in the Ant-Man franchise, Hank Pym, to be killed off in the third film.
“This actually was my request for the third one,” Douglas explained of his desire for his character to die. “I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects. There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is.

Paul Rudd has become an integral part of the MCU as Ant-Man. His debut MCU film in 2015 provided an entertaining and fresh look at an unexplored side of the MCU, including the quantum realm, along with the character’s size control powers. The character also became a significant factor in the fight against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.
Paul Rudd as Scott Lang in 2015’s Ant-Man
Before Paul Rudd was cast, many other actors were rumored for the part, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Nathan Fillion. The latter was rumored years back, even before the first Avengers film. However, Fillion would never have chosen Ant-Man if he had been given the choice to play a Marvel superhero.

Paul Rudd has become a seminal part of the MCU as Ant-Man. His debut in the charming 2015 solo film intrigued audiences and brought a new type of superhero for audiences. Over a year ago, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ came out. It was a big deal for a few reasons. Firstly, it kicked off Phase 5 of the MCU and introduced Kang the Conqueror, who was set to become the next big villain in the Multiverse Saga. But after it hit theaters, things went downhill. The movie didn’t do well financially—it didn’t even make back its production costs. And critics weren’t too kind either; the reviews were mixed at best.
Shortly after the premiere, Jonathan Majors faced a major setback. He was arrested and charged with assault by his ex-girlfriend. Disney took action 10 months later in December, firing him when he was found guilty. ‘Quantumania’ played a role in setting off changes at the studio, and ‘The Marvels’ solidified them.

Kathryn Newton is inevitably one of the best actresses of this generation. Yet, her recent onscreen performances aren’t quite catching fire at box offices the same way they did before. Just like how her Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019) managed to gross almost thrice its budget, her recent Ant-Man 3 failed to land the mark and ended with a disappointing box office run.

As it seems, that losing box-office streak of hers isn’t dying down easily. Despite this, her fans still have high hopes for this film, even predicting that it would go on to become a cult classic following its release on streaming.

Many godlike Avengers, including Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Hulk, and Thor, are mentioned when fans argue over who is the most powerful character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sure, upon examining the physical attributes, fans may discover that the answer to this question is not as simple as they initially believed. There are other abilities besides brute force, magic, and energy blasts that can provide a hero with an edge during battle.
Having said that, Scott Lang, a.k.a. Ant-Man in the MCU, is a superhero who, with the use of Pym Particles, can shrink to the size of an ant while retaining his normal strength and durability. This means that he can outmaneuver his rivals and deliver punches with the force of a full-sized man. Not to mention, his ability to change size gives him an extra edge in battle.

Reed Richards is rumored to be a very important character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, being compared to Tony Stark. Needless to say, each member of the Fantastic Four is probably going to be influential in the MCU, but Richards in particular might have had more of an impact than one would put together.
Reed Richards in Marvel Comics
The Fantastic Four will be set in the 1960’s, being one of the rare MCU films that also doubles as a period piece. This has been done twice before, once with Captain America: The First Avenger (which was set entirely during the Second World War) and then again with Captain Marvel (which is set in 1995). However, setting the story in the ’60s opens up a lot of fun ideas for the narrative of the MCU, and one such idea involves the original Ant-Man: Hank Pym.

Hey “True Believers”, is it time for another trip into the Marvel Universe so early in the new year? Well, since the last adventure of the Ant-Man and the Wasp hit the multiplex almost on the same date last year, then it’s “Avengers Assemble” once more. But with a couple of big exceptions. You see, this isn’t a Marvel Studios production, rather it’s Sony “in association with Marvel”. So, this is another effort by them to “spin-off” Spidey and bring another secondary character from the comics into their very own feature film. Oh, and the others were the “rouges gallery” Aka the bad guys. First, it was Venom, who got a sequel followed by the disastrous Morbius, with Kraven “waiting in the wings”. Ah, but this time it’s another hero so Sony hopes that moviegoers will get tangled up in the strands spun by Madame Web.

Scott Lang’s Ant-Man is an intriguing and hilarious MCU superhero who has undoubtedly seen significant changes from the comics. The superhero was first introduced in the Universe in a standalone film, Ant-Man, released on July 17, 2015, as the last MCU Phase Two movie. However, in his next appearance, Ant-Man is on the opposing side with Steve Rogers/Captain America and Sam Wilson/Falcon against Tony Stark/Iron Man faction in Captain America: Civil War (2016). As much as people complain about Hollywood putting out the same things year after year, the fact remains that name recognition gets people into theater seats. Moreover, remakes and reboots give filmmakers an opportunity to retell beloved stories from a different perspectives. In this age of high-budgets and higher-expectations, reboots and remakes are among the only types of movies that major studios like to make these days.
So whether you’re feeling cynical about this year’s offerings or optimistic about the second swings filmmakers are taking, here are the biggest reboots and remakes coming in 2024.

After facing production halts and delays for a year during the post-covid hiatus, superhero movies gradually started making a comeback in 2021–2022, and 2023 was geared up to be the biggest year for the genre since Avengers: Endgame, with some of the most anticipated releases slated across two big franchises. Instead, by the end of the year, the said genre had lost its position as Hollywood’s regular top earner; the relevance of superhero media on the silver screen was put into question, and both franchises went through some massive setbacks in their respective cinematic universes. The reason for such unprecedented rejection of the genre that dominated the market for over a decade or so is rooted in the utter callousness of the makers, who had taken the audience for granted and, as a result, spent little to no effort pushing the boundaries of the genre or coming up with inventive or...

We all love Captain America and Iron Man. Those shining icons made the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the powerhouse franchise that we know, and that at least some of us continue to love. But the MCU has never been just about the guys in the suits. Kevin Feige and his collaborators built the franchise on the regular people around those with cool costumes and code names, the normal folks who trade witty barbs and give Spider-Man and Captain Marvel something to fight for.
These heroes deserve their day in the sun. So here are fifteen of the greatest non-superpowered heroes of the MCU!

Actor Paul Rudd had to undergo a very strict, regulated and restrictive diet in order to build his physique for playing Scott Lang in ‘Ant-Man’ films. During a recent appearance on the ‘Off Menu’ podcast, where guests talk about their ‘dream menu’, the show’s hosts Ed Gamble and James Acaster asked the actor what type of water he preferred to which he gave an amusing reply.
Rudd said: “When I was having to train for the ‘Ant-Man’ movie, and I was on a very restrictive diet, my reward was sparkling water. That’s how horrible that diet was. I was like, ‘Alright, I’m gonna have some sparkling water now, I’ve earned it’.”
The actor said that during his rigorous training to get him all ripped up, and in proper shape, as a reward he would have a lot of ‘sparkling water’, reports Hollywood Reporter.

The following article contains spoilers for "The Marvels," including the mid-credits scene.
"The Marvels" has finally hit theaters, and across the board, star Iman Vellani, who plays Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, has received well-deserved praise. One just cannot look at her enthusiasm and joy and not smile. The film may be having a rough time at the box office, but if Vellani is the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that future is bright. In fact, the future of the MCU is something /Film's own Ethan Anderton discussed while chatting with Vellani about "The Marvels."
During their conversation, Anderton asked Vellani about the mid-credits scene where Kamala Khan recreates the very first MCU post-credits scene. You know, the "Iron Man" one where Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) recruits Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) for his Avengers Initiative? Not only does Kamala show up at Kate Bishop's (Hailee Steinfeld...

Warning: This article contains spoilers for all time, always for the season 2 finale of "Loki."
Of all the shocking twists and turns thrown at viewers during the season finale (and dare I say series finale?) of "Loki," few could've been as surprising as the one that the writers dropped in the waning moments of the hour. After six relentless episodes filled with timelines collapsing and multiverse-threatening chaos, the ending snaps into place when Loki heroically sacrifices himself and finds true fulfillment as the new keeper of the timelines. This allows the rest of the show's ensemble cast of characters to settle into a new status quo, one where the Time Variance Authority no longer needs to prune branches with extreme prejudice and those who wish to live their lives on the sacred timeline are now free to do so. But before Mobius (Owen Wilson) makes his fateful choice, we're treated...

In a recent episode of Loki season 2, Ravonna Renslayer and Miss Minutes travel to 1863 Chicago. There, they find a young boy and give him a Tva handbook written by Ke Huy Quan’s Tva technician, Ouroboros. The next time we see that boy in 1893, he’s a man going by the name of Victor Timely who has studied the details of that book and is now able to invent the contraptions inside it, including the temporal loom that will become the center of the Tva.
This, of course, raises a question. Who really started the Tva? We’ve been told that the Tva was founded by He Who Remains, the man who Victor Timely will become. But now Loki shows that Victor/Hwr got the idea for the Tva from Ob’s book. How can He Who Remains be both the inspiration and be inspired?
The answer, of course, is time travel.

Joanna Robinson, co-author of MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, recently discussed how Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania was perceived as a home run by Marvel before it debuted
Most would agree that the third film in the Ant-Man franchise had a lot of issues. It lacked the size-changing charm of the first two, it kept the series’ titular couple of Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne separate, and it presented special effects that could be described as sub-standard.
The box office returns for Ant-Man 3 reflected its dismal reception and contributed to the notion among fans that Marvel Studios had lost a step (or several.)

Loki is back to try and save the Marvel Universe in more ways than one as the second season of his MCU solo show returns to Disney+ this month. It’s the only live-action MCU series to get a second season so far, and as the premiere kicks off it’s incredibly easy to see why. Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, and the rest of the Loki cast really do make the show’s near-incomprehensible time travel story utterly compelling.

Marvel Studios confirmed the one big problem that comes with Paul Rudd's growing powers as Giant-Man.
Scott Lang is known for his shrinking powers—hence his classic Ant-Man moniker. But, ever since Captain America: Civil War, the Marvel hero also began utilizing the ability to grow instead of shrink.
This came in handy a number of times, from being the winning move during the Avengers' big airport brawl to Scott Lang crushing Goliath flying Chitauri ships in Avengers: Endgame.

When "Avengers: Endgame" arrived in theaters, there was plenty of praise from Marvel Cinematic Universe fans around the world, but there was one celebrated moment that wasn't quite the home run it should have been. In the film's final battle, all of the (surviving) female characters from across the history of the MCU suddenly come together to help Captain Marvel accompany the Infinity Gauntlet and all the Infinity Stones into the Quantum Realm portal that has just been activated in the wrecked van Scott Lang has been driving around after being stuck in the atomic world for five years.
Aside from the fact that Captain Marvel immediately proves after this moment that she doesn't really need anyone else's help to deal with Thanos, this felt like a contrived feminist tribute to acknowledge Marvel's mishandling of female characters over the years.

“Only Murders in the Building” Season 3 contains a cast of heavy hitters joining the staple trio of Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez. Each addition drives this season’s murder mystery, particularly Paul Rudd’s Ben Glenroy, whose second and certain death earns him consideration on the murder podcast.
Also entering the puzzle this season is Meryl Streep as aspiring actress Loretta Durkin, who auditions and gets cast in the role of The Nanny by Oliver himself in his new play. All her life she has been waiting to hear the words he says to her after she finishes her monologue. Ben Glenroy brings some interesting people along with him — mainly his manager and adopted brother Dickey (Jeremy Shamos) and his cameraman Tobert (Jesse Williams). Kimber (Ashley Park) acts in the play as well.

Over the course of his career, Paul Rudd hasn't died a lot onscreen. Comedian Patton Oswalt shot him in the chest in "Reno 911! Miami," Alexander Skarsgard stabbed Rudd's character Cactus Bill in the throat in the low key thriller "Mute" and I suppose you could count the time where one of his future variants is ripped to pieces in the trippiest scene in "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." My personal favorite is when Scott Lang becomes a zombie and gets decapitated in the Disney+ animated series "What If ... ?" at the hands of Hank Pym. Apparently, Rudd is just too likable to wind up playing the victim very often.

Hulu’s true crime inspired comedy series Only Murders in the Building is back with another season, and another murder. With Marvel getting ready to launch their big new event series Secret Invasion on Disney+, it’s time to take stock of the MCU and wonder how many twists we might be in for in this latest offering. While the plot of the comic focuses on some heavy Marvel Universe hitters being unmasked as Skrull infiltrators, the trailers for the TV adaptation have so far focused on a rogue faction of Skrulls headed up by Kingsley Ben-Adir’s villainous Gravik, along with some Skrull allies we already know, like Captain Marvel’s Talos (Ben Mendelsohn).
However, the plot synopsis for the show does still claim that the shapeshifting Skrull faction are attempting to infiltrate Earth in positions of power around the world, and it’s likely that Marvel has been keeping some of Secret Invasion’s biggest secrets away from prying eyes (and leaks), so...

Abby Ryder Fortson's Cassie Lang is one of the best parts of Peyton Reed's first two "Ant-Man" films. 2015's "Ant-Man" introduces Cassie as an eight-year-old ball of energy who sees nothing but the best in her father, Paul Rudd's Scott Lang, even when the rest of the world dismisses him as an ex-con. She's also weird in a way that rings believable for a kid, nerding out over the "ugly" bunny doll Scott gifts her on her birthday.
The next time we see Cassie in 2018's "Ant-Man and the Wasp," she's grown up enough to have some thoughts on her dad's quasi-romantic relationship with his work buddy, Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne, but not so much as to strain credibility. These scenes rely heavily on Rudd and Fortson to work. Fortunately, their strong chemistry is more than enough to fully sell this father-daughter dynamic despite limited screen time.

It's not just Tim Burton's "Batman" getting in on the Lego superhero fun this year. A new batch of Marvel Lego sets are on the way that will let fans rebuild the events from two big screen blockbuster finales in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Reaching back into the end of The Infinity Saga, a new Lego set creates a diorama recreating part of the final battle between Thanos and some of The Avengers. In fact, this set basically allows for the recreation of Marvel's not-so-subtle female superhero empowerment moment where all the lady superheroes of the MCU march towards Thanos. But it also includes the most important character in the entirety of the MCU, and trust me when I say you won't guess who it is.

15 years after Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark built his first-ever Iron Man suit in a cave with a box of scraps, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is no longer a franchise to enter lightly. With more than 30 films and several TV shows already under its belt (and many more on the way), the property that's ruled Hollywood for the past decade now presents many of the same hurdles to entrance as the wide, wide universe of Marvel Comics. Forget being able to watch any one-off MCU film and then simply tune back in for the sequel; unless you've kept up with every relevant entry in the franchise since then, odds are there'll be some pretty big chunks of the story that fly right over your head.
Hand-wringing and hyperbole aside, though, the challenge of servicing both casual audiences and hardcore Marvel Comics fans is one the McU's creatives have always had to deal with.

Superheroes love their pets. Shortly after Superman debuted the genre in 1938, he and his other tights and capes friends gained their own pet sidekicks, including Beppo the Super-Monkey, Ace the Bat-hound, and Comet the Super-Horse. Although Marvel’s hipper approach in the early 60s precluded pet sidekicks as much as it did teen sidekicks, super-powered animals soon made their way onto Earth 616, including the Inhumans’ transporter Lockjaw, and Brightwind, the Asgardian pegasus of New Mutant Mirage.
While some of these creatures have made their way into live-action, the MCU has been a bit slower to debut super-powered animals, at least as pet sidekicks. As Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 shows, animals with powers deserve their own character arcs, even if it’s as small as Cosmo getting mad at being called a bad dog. These animals aren’t really pets as much as they are members of the team!

Hello again Blu-ray fans! It's been a few, but we're back in business with an all-new round-up of some of the best new Blu-ray releases you can find right now. As always, I encourage you to embrace the wonderful world of physical media, because while streaming is convenient, it's not forever. This latest round-up features a not-great Marvel sequel, the latest from M. Night Shyamalan, a Ridley Scott '90s classic, one of the two competing asteroid movies of 1998, a Michael Mann in dude's rock mode, and an underrated erotic thriller from Jane Campion. Keep spinning those discs.
Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania
Oh boy, what a mess. I'll be the first to admit that I've grown weary of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so perhaps that's clouding my judgment. But in my humble opinion, "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" is one of the worst things the MCU has ever produced.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 is over and done with and after a lengthy…two and a half months, it’s time to begin Phase 5! Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is starting things off and it is a fitting escalation for the trilogy. The first Ant-Man acted as a surprise, charming hit denouement to MCU Phase 2. Now Scott Lang gets to start things off for the next few years of Marvel storytelling.
Before Quantumania hits theaters, let’s take a look at the major players and concepts and how they brought us to this stage.
