If you were around when "The Nightmare Before Christmas" first opened in theaters, it might freak you out to learn that it's been 30 years since then. The film, adapted from a story by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick, tells the musical tale of Jack Skellington, the King of Halloween Town, who is having an emotional crisis. He's looking for something different and new when he comes across doors for other holiday towns. When he visits Christmas Town, he thinks it will be much better than what he has. He returns to Halloween Town and tries to get the spooky residents to embrace Christmas, which they do, but in their own, unique and creepy way.
Elfman, who was the lead vocalist and played rhythm guitar for the band Oingo Boingo at the time, composed the music for the film in just around 30 days.

The Simpsons Season 34 Episode 21
If we’ve learned anything from The Simpsons, it is that clowns are funny. Homer went to Krusty’s Clown College in season 6 for “Homie the Clown.” We learn they can also be profitable in “Clown V. Board of Education,” which would have been a classic episode if we hadn’t already taken this class, and paid for it with money laundered by seltzer water.
Krusty the Clown has always been a stand-in for The Simpsons itself. So, when he bemoans how he lost touch with the audience in the ‘90s, it feels like a perfect setup for a continuation of an already tenured plot. One in which we know the Simpsons can succeed as a family, and Springfield as a community. Bart follows a path Homer laid out, and brings in a tender performance with the treacle pre-trimmed.

“I know you are, but what am I?” With those words, Paul Reubens’ Pee-wee Herman became one of the biggest pop culture sensations of the 1980s, spawning several TV series, toys, movies, and so much more before controversy spelled the temporary end of the character. After a stage show and HBO special, Pee-wee Herman broke into the mainstream with the now classic 1985 film, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. The feature directorial debut of Tim Burton, the film put the young director on the map, allowing him to go on to make Beetlejuice and 1989’s Batman, plus it also established Oingo Boingo frontman Danny Elfman as one of the most talented young composers in Hollywood.

Since becoming the toast of the Coachella Festival in April performing his first rock concerts in decades, Danny Elfman has been a little cagey about some of the questions fans had on their minds about future live plans — namely: Might he take that show on the road, or at least repeat it in some fashion? And would there be any “Nightmare Before Christmas” shows in L.A. again this year?
Answers to both those questions came — in conjoined fashion — when Elfman announced Monday that he will be doing two shows at the Hollywood Bowl this fall … on Halloween weekend, when “Nightmare” gigs would traditionally go down, if they were going to. That can probably be counted as a win for everyone, as the Oct. 28-29 timing of the concerts serves as a promise that the singer-songwriter-film-composer will be working some material from the 1993 stop-motion classic into his set list. If...
