This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
Well, X-Men ’97‘s finale didn’t end with Onslaught or Ultimatum (thank goodness), but it did go out with quite the bang. The heroes stop Bastion’s assault with the help of Jean Grey’s Phoenix Force, depowering Mister Sinister at the same time. Although the battle sends Asteroid M crashing toward the Earth, Professor X appealed to Magneto’s better angels once again and convinced him to prevent a global catastrophe, apparently killing himself and the X-Men in the process.
But, as Bishop tells Forge, “This ain’t our first time at the ‘X-Men are Dead’ rodeo.”
Sure enough, the final minutes of the finale confirm the X-Men still live, albeit in very different times. With half the team in ancient Egypt and the other half in a ravaged far future, they have their work cut out for them in season two.

X-Men ’97 has been building up its threats and world swiftly, proving its intentions to start right where it left off—at the climax of its story. Characters are dying left and right, introductions of past iconic characters are frequent, and iconic comic book characters are making their animation debuts.
Spider-Man in X-Men ’97
The most recent addition to the series was Mother Askani, who made an appearance at the very end of the tenth episode of the series, alongside Nathan Summer. While it was made evident that Nathan was the son of Jean Grey and Scott Summers, there was another character who was related to the X-Men power couple.
Spoiler warning for those who have not seen the 10th episode of X-Men ’97.

“Tastes like chicken.” If that phrase brings to mind the evil mutant the Blob chowing down on the Wasp’s corpse, then the ending of X-Men ’97‘s eighth episode, “Tolerance Is Extinction Part One,” should send shivers down your spine.
After all, Magneto’s decision to attack the entire planet Earth in X-Men ’97 has a lot in common with the inciting event of Ultimatum, the 2009 Marvel event that somehow made the already grim and edgy Ultimate Marvel Universe even grimmer and edgier, to very mixed results.
The connections between Ultimatum and “Tolerance Is Extinction Part One” only stand out more when one considers all of the many cameos in the episode, which showed that anti-mutant bigotry isn’t just limited to the X-Men, but it affects the entire Marvel Universe.
Here’s a breakdown of all the cameos in the star-studded episode...

Doctor Doom has been touted to be one of the main antagonists of the MCU as the studio’s plans with Kang the Conqueror seemed to have taken a back burner due to Jonathan Majors’ firing. The character has been one of the most beloved villains in the Marvel universe and fans have been waiting for his arrival into the franchise.
Ahead of his rumored appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars, Doctor Doom made a cameo in the Disney Plus series X-Men ‘97. The latest episode of the series sees him aligned with the Zero Tolerance group, which is headed by Bastion and also has Zemo. However, Doom’s involvement with the group has irked fans as the character is not as villainous as the others.

X-Men ’97 dropped its latest episode, Lifedeath – Part 2, and fans have plenty to discuss in Marvel discussion forums. However, one character’s appearance may have a significant impact on the series. The episode provides a first look into a major villain with blood ties to the leader of the X-Men, Cyclops. While Scott and Alex were believed to be the only Summers brothers, Marvel Comics introduced a third one, Gabriel Summers aka Vulcan, in X-Men: Deadly Genesis.
Gabriel Summers aka Vulcan in X-Men ’97
Gabriel is the troubled Summers brother, who has no idea of his birth parents or Scott. Katherine Summers was pregnant when the Summers were abducted by D’Ken of the Shi’ar throne world. Katherine was killed and the fetus was placed in an incubator, which accelerated his growth to adolescence.

The Disney Plus animated series X-Men ‘97 has been receiving positive responses since its release. The revival of the classic show X-Men: The Animated Series was in the headlines earlier this month for parting ways with showrunner Beau DeMayo. The show’s premiere on March 20 reportedly garnered over 4 million views, making it the second most-viewed animated series on the platform.
The third episode of the series is reportedly adapted from the comic Inferno and follows Jean Grey’s clone. Introduced at the end of episode two, the clone is transformed into the Goblin Queen by Mister Sinister and then assumes the identity of Madelyn Pryor. The episode also sees Nathan Summers, the son of Cyclops and Jean Grey make an appearance.

"X-Men '97" is bringing the marvelous mutant heroes back to the small screen like they never left it, picking up right after the original series finale, "Graduation Day." Since that aired, the show's '90s setting has gone from contemporary to period piece.
The long-awaited trailer for "X-Men '97" debuted on February 15, 2024, and there's plenty to discuss even with less than 2 minutes of footage. For one, we've now finally seen the series' animation style, which brings modern shading and three-dimensionality to the original's classic cartoon look.
Much of the original voice cast is back (even if they only get a line each to show it), while Ray Chase and Matthew Waterson sound uncanny as Cyclops and Magneto. I'll admit I've been skeptical of "X-Men '97" before now — I've never been a huge fan of the original (the production values were quite low and often off-putting). Plus, the X-Men's world is so vast,...

Is Captain Britain about to make his McU debut? The English superhero has been rumored for years to be on his way to live-action but so far, nothing concrete has materialized. However, the introduction of Kit Harington’s Black Knight in The Eternals suggests that Marvel is ready to start bringing in some other vigilantes from across the pond and we might just know where Cap Britain will first appear.
As we reported on earlier today, Marvel is planning on making a movie based on the Excalibur superhero team from the comics. An off-shoot of the X-Men, many famous mutants such as Nightcrawler, Kitty Pryde and Phoenix (Rachel Summers) have been part of the roster over the years. However, they’re nearly always led by Captain Britain and sure enough, we’ve heard from our sources – the same ones who told us The CW was developing an Arrow spinoff back...

Let’s get two things out of the way here: I really liked X-Men: Days of Future Past. And I have complicated feelings about the X-Men movies, but one thing that doesn’t bother me is their screwy internal chronology. I am not a a continuity pedant; the fact that X-Men: First Class directly overrules several parts of X-Men 1 doesn’t lessen my enjoyment of either of them.
So what follows is not meant to nitpick the plot of Future Past. Rather, this is an inquisition, an attempt to seriously understand what the space-time continuum really looks like after it...

This article contains spoilers for X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Lots of them.
X-Men comics have a reputation within the industry for being a little too complicated. In part, that's because the original Days Of Future Past storyline made it cool to create possible dystopian futures and mix characters from them into the team. Bishop, Cable and Rachel Summers all joined the X-Men after coming back from the future. Villains like the Dark Beast and Stryfe came from timelines that no longer exist. Keeping it straight requires a lot of work.
And now, with the release of the X-Men: Days Of Future Past movie, the X-Men movies have finally become as complicated as the comics. Despite claims to the contrary, Fox has clearly taken a look...

The X-Men have been around for more than 50 years. They multiply: rapidly, frequently, endlessly. They aren’t really a superteam like the Justice League or the Avengers, those all-star crews built out of solo-series stars (Superman, Captain America) mixed together with B-list glue characters (Martian Manhunter, Wonder Man). With one very obvious exception and a few other arguable exceptions, the X-Men aren’t Solo-Star people. They are a team.
Or rather, teams. Chris Claremont’s iconic decade-and-a-half run on Uncanny X-Men cemented the idea that the X-lineup was eternally fluid: Characters died, left on sabbatical, joined the Avengers, got replaced...

A mutant boy runs through the forest at night, like a victim in a slasher movie. His death sends a psychic shock all the way to Rachel Grey, bringing Wolverine, Kitty Pryde, and Rogue into Appalachia to investigate. From the raw pencils and dark palette, to the scope of the plot, this book feels vintage in a great way. The titular heroes touch the core of what makes the X-Men so appealing. Marvel Knights: X-Men is a welcome nostalgic comic, but that cuts both ways.
The story and the art capture the prescient humanity inherent in the X-Men. They exist to fight discrimination. No other team is so well defined by its goals. There’s a direct thematic connection to American Civil Rights and Lgbt rights movements. The murdered teen resonates with both,...

As most comic book movie fans are now fully aware of, next year will see the continuation of the X-Men movie franchise with the highly anticipated Days of Future Past.
Somewhat loosely adapted from a comic book arc of the same name, the X-Men ensemble will fight a war for the survival of the mutant species across two time periods in this movie.
The characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class in a battle that must change the past in order to save their future – a future which will see a war begin that will wipe them from existence, as purpose-built robots known as Sentinels hunt them down and terminate them (indeed, the film has been described as “X-Men meets Terminator”).
