And another Freeform show bites the dust.
Siren has been canceled after three seasons at the young-skewing cabler, it has been announced.
In its third -- and now final -- season, Siren averaged a 0.11 demo rating and 410,000 total viewers (in Live+Same day numbers).
This is down 30 and 15 percent from one year earlier.
Out of the seven series currently on Freeform’s slate, it ranks second in the demo (trailing only grown-ish) and No. 1 in total audience.
As such, the cancellation is somewhat surprising.
The series took place coastal town of Bristol Cove, Washington, known for its legends of once being home to mermaids and mermen for centuries.
The town is turned upside down when a mysterious young woman (Eline Powell) appears and begins wreaking havoc upon the small fishing town to look for her captured older sister (Sibongile Mlambo) who was abducted at the hands of the local military.

“Siren” has been canceled at Freeform after three seasons, Variety has confirmed.
The news comes about two months after the Season 3 finale, which aired at the end of May. The series starred Eline Powell as Ryn Fisher, a mysterious young woman (who happens to be a mermaid) who came ashore looking for her sister, who had been accidentally captured by a fisherman.
The series also starred Rena Owen, Alex Roe, Fola Evans-Akingbola and Ian Verdun. It wascreated by Eric Wald and Dean White. The series was executive produced by Emily Whitesell and Wald, with Whitesell serving as showrunner.
The show proved to a hit ratings draw in its first season, with episodes routinely drawing around 1.5 million viewers in delayed viewing. The show was also the most-watched Freeform original in its second season. And even with a ratings dropoff in Season 3, it remained one of the top shows on the network.

Exclusive: Freeform’s Siren has come to an end as the network has opted not to pick up a fourth season of the mermaid drama. The news comes more than two months after the May 28 Season 3 finale.
The cancellation marks a reversal of fortune for Siren, which made a splashy debut in 2018. It was a breakout hit in Season 1 and its second season ranked as Freeform’s most-watched series of the year.
Despite a double-digit ratings drop in Season 3, Siren remained the most watched Freeform original series in linear ratings.
Season 3 of Siren kicked off with a two-episode premiere April 2. The series is based on a story by co-writers Eric Wald and Dean White, and is set in the coastal town of Bristol Cove, known in legend as an ancient home of mermaids. Freeform isn’t about to let Siren be the one that swam away: The cabler has renewed the mermaid drama for Season 2, TVLine has learned.
The series follows Ryn (played by Eline Powell), a mythical marine creature who arrives in a small town that’s heavy on deep sea folklore and quickly causes a whole lot of commotion.
Season 2 will consist of 16 episodes, an increase from Season 1’s 10.
Averaging 670,000 total viewers thus far this season, Siren is Freeform’s most-watched series (ahead of the soon-to-end The Fosters), while in the Women 18-34 and 12-34 demos, it stands as the No.
