“I don’t think I’ve experienced a theater season in New York ever like this one,” noted Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks. “There’s been a range, a breadth, an expansion of possibility that has been truly astonishing to witness. Theater makers have inspired not only with their creativity, but also with their drive and determination to serve audiences with vision and talent. These nominees reflect the promise and greatness inherent in the work of theater folk, and I can’t help but be deeply proud.

Exclusive: WME has inked Caroline Randall Williams in all areas.
Prior to her viral June 26 New York Times op-ed “You Want a Confederate Monument? My Body Is a Confederate Monument,” Randall Williams was best known for her cookbook, the NAACP Image Award-winning Soul Food Love, co-written with her mother, best-selling author Alice Randall.
Last year, Jack White’s literary imprint Third Man Books published her poetry collection, Lucy Negro, Redux to accompany Nashville Ballet’s adaptation of Randall Williams’ work. Grammy-winner Rhiannon Giddens composed an original score for the ballet, which included Randall Williams’ live performance of her own poems. The show received rave reviews in The New York Times and will go on national tour next year, with Randall Williams and Giddens set to reprise their live performances. On a humid summer afternoon in New Jersey, several thousand people are screaming their hearts out in a language they don’t speak. American devotees of Korean pop music have taken over Newark’s Prudential Center for the weekend; in the parking lot, the crowd sings along to a series of Korean-pop hooks by groups like Exo, Red Velvet and Bts, whose arena-rock stomper “Fake Love” gets the loudest shouts. Close by, a teenage dance group teaches signature moves from K-pop music videos; other stages in the complex host songwriter meet-and-greets,...

Karmin may have kicked their career off with sugary pop bangers like “Brokenhearted” and “Hello,” but the husband-wife duo has since shapeshift their sound into something a little more natural, and it seems like it’s a vibe that ultimately suits them the best in the end. Their second full-length, Leo Rising, arrived earlier in September, and today they dropped the music video for “Love Is Louder” — it also happens to be one of the coolest of their career so far.
In a video draped in black and white, frontwoman Amy Heidemann is hardly the star of the show — that instead goes to the dancing shirtless man who has the responsibility of driving the point of the video, and of the song, home. As the clip begins with front pages of newspapers detailing horrific attacks, Heidemann pleads for a better future with lyrics like, “I would like to live my...

Masha's new 4-song Ep "Stupid, Stupid Dreams" packs a dark-tinged rock 'n' roll punch and raw emotion. This Song of the Day selection is brought to you a day away from the release of "Stupid, Stupid Dreams," co-produced by Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift) and songwriter/producer Claude Kelly (Britney Spears, Bruno Mars). Acts in 'The Voice' were given just a 45-minute masterclass with their coaches before singing in last weekend's (11.05.13) Battle Rounds. Axed duo De'Vide - Barny Holes, 24, and Lex Flowers, 24 - admitted they were disappointed with their mentor Jessie J and her co-writer Claude Kelly, who requested they sing Drake's 'The Best I Ever Had' for their big performance, despite them not feeling comfortable with the chosen song. Jessie J has doubts about her act De'Vide on tonight's (May 12) episode of The Voice.
The coach expressed concerns about the duo during rehearsals for the Battle Rounds as they practised their version of Drake's 'Best I Ever Had'.
De'Vide rapper Lex had timing troubles during his part, which caused tension in the session.
Jessie told him: "I'm the only one that has given a rapper a chance in this competition. Don't take that for granted."
Lex later said of their rehearsal: "The session with Jessie for me was kind of, real not hit, a lot of miss."
Jessie later confessed to songwriter and producer Claude Kelly: "I don't know if I made a mistake in turning around for De'Vide."
The Ipswich duo will compete against Danny County in the Battle Round, which can be seen tonight at 7pm on BBC1.

-- Christina Aguilera, "Lotus" (RCA Records)
Christina Aguilera is easily one of contemporary music's best voices. She's got pipes that music-lovers need to hear at a time when Top 40 radio features studio-enhanced vocals and award shows are full of lip syncing. That's why her fifth album, "Lotus," is somewhat disappointing – not because it isn't good, but because it isn't great.
Sure, it's an improvement from 2010's "Bionic," a chaotic album that is Aguilera's only one not to reach platinum status. "Lotus" is more focused, thankfully, but not as satisfying as her first three releases.
The new 13-track album is the singer's first music offering since she filed for divorce two years ago. And when she's emotional, she sounds best.
The title track kicks off the album nicely as Aguilera sings about starting over. On "Best of Me," she sings: "Words cut through my skin, tears roll down my chin, my walls crumble within.

He said: "Right Place Right Time as a title sums up my career to this point. I've worked hard in everything I've done, doing what's felt right, and everything has fit into place. "It sums up the sentiment for this whole album." Murs has been recording and co-writing his third studio album since March this year with producers Steve Robson (Take That, Leona Lewis), Claude Kelly (Kelly Clarkson) and Wayne Hector (One Direction, Cheryl Cole). Jessie J is being sued by California's Loomis & the Lust, who claim that her track "Domino" sounds a lot like their song "Bright Red Chords."The band's lead singer, Will Loomis, alleges that Jessie J's biggest Stateside hit has a few striking similarities to portions of the band's own 2008 track. He is suing not only Jessie, but also Universal Music Group, Lava Records and Universal Republic Records. "Mr. Loomis never consented to the use of his song," lawyer Chris Arledge wrote in a statement to Billboard. "And we look forward to obtaining an appropriate remedy from the court for this clear infringement."
In April, Loomis uploaded a video of the band's song with Jessie's vocals laid on it, but the clip has since been removed on "copyright grounds.

Having a legendary producer like Quincy Jones for one's debut single is a rare opportunity for most aspiring artists. Luckily for Canadian-bred singer-songwriter Tamia, Jones crafted her 1995 hit "You Put a Move On My Heart," which became a top ten R&B hit and earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
Seventeen years later, Tamia aims to recapture that chart-topping success with her June release, Beautiful Surprise.
During a candid interview with The Huffington Post, Tamia revealed details behind the album, sustaining her marriage to Grant Hill, her thoughts on the "Basketball Wives" franchise, and her battle with multiple sclerosis.
