Apple TV+ has released the trailer for “The Buccaneers,” a new drama series based on Edith Wharton’s unfinished novel. “The Buccaneers” will debut its first three episodes on Nov. 8, followed by the release of new episodes weekly every Wednesday through Dec. 13.
Olivia Rodrigo’s “all-american bitch” plays throughout the trailer as a group of carefree, fun-loving American girls enter the tightly corseted London season of the 1870s, according to the release. An Anglo-American culture clash ensues due to the girls’ refreshing disregard for centuries of tradition. The buccaneers’ hearts are set on much more than just securing husbands and titles. “Saying ‘I do’ is just the beginning,” to quote the logline.

Zoë Kravitz is in her “High Fidelity” era and knows it all too well.
The “Pussy Island” writer/director co-penned two songs for Taylor Swift’s upcoming album “Midnights,” titled “Karma” and “Lavender Haze.” The 13-track album is set to be released October 21, with the full song list revealed October 18 along with the co-writers. Swift co-wrote 11 out of the 13 songs with Jack Antonoff, plus Lana Del Rey for “Snow on the Beach.” The song “Vigilante Shit” is the sole track Swift alone wrote.
Kravitz is the frontwoman of R&b electropop duo Lolawolf, which released albums in 2014 and 2020, and has opened for Lily Allen, Azealia Banks, Warpaint, and Miley Cyrus.
Swift recently shared that “Lavender Haze,” which Kravitz also co-wrote, was inspired by a phrase Swift learned watching “Mad Men.”

Finn Wolfhard heads back to the Nineties (again) for his new song, “Getting Better (Otherwise),” from The Turning soundtrack.
Wolfhard stars in the upcoming adaptation of Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw as Miles, a wealthy orphan who lives alone in a massive manor with his sister, Flora, and their housekeeper Mrs. Grose. Things start to unravel when a new governess, Kate, moves in to tend to Flora. It’s a tale as old as time (or the 1800s): Is the house haunted or is Kate just insane?...

From the dawn of his post-One Direction career, Harry Styles has exhibited quality taste in opening acts: His 2017 Live on Tour shows brought along Kacey Musgraves, Leon Bridges and Warpaint in various parts of the world.
That tradition extended to the recent announcement of his Love on Tour shows: Opening on all of Styles’ American tour dates next year will be Jenny Lewis, fresh off of the acclaim for this year’s On the Line.
“I’m so excited about it,” Lewis says from her current home base in Nashville.

Kurt Vile unveiled a new country-tinged tune, “One Trick Ponies,” that will appear on the rocker’s upcoming album, Bottle It In, out October 12th.
The track is centered around a spindly guitar lick that winds its way around shuffling drums, piano and harmonica. Vile’s lyrics swing between the playful and peculiar – “Some are weird as hell, but we love all/ Some are one trick ponies but we embrace all” – and the song coalesces around an instantly infectious hook, which Vile belts in pristine harmony with Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa and Farmer Dave Scher.

Harry Styles’ debut solo tour was ambitious: nearly 90 shows across 10 months in support of an unconventional solo debut album that channeled the sounds of the early 1970s more than anything he’d done as a member of One Direction. If Styles had made a 2018 version of “Futuresex/LoveSounds,” it’s safe to suggest that Drake might not have broken all those streaming records last week. But instead the 24-year-old Brit made an album that few if any could have predicted: “a bold and brave statement of intent that completely reinvents him as an artist — and leaves a wide-open road for whatever he might want to do next,” as Variety said in its May 2017 review.
But as much as the album was a curve to his audience, a huge number of them followed him every step of the way, as evidenced by the tinnitus-inducing shrieks at those 90-odd shows and the...

Anticipation for 2017’s major festivals is at an all time high, with Coachella‘s lineup serving as the holy grail of the entire season. We’ve already heard some rumors about the alleged headliners, while DJ Khaled inadvertently spilled the beans on his slot at the festival. Now we have another enticing update to ponder with a list that attempts to predict the entire lineup.
A website called TravelGrom has consistently made predictions about Coachella lineups in the past with a high degree of accuracy compared to the average rumor, and they’ve just offered up their projections for 2017. While the information is just conjecture at this point, TravelGrom predicted last year’s lineup with 64% accuracy. If that figure holds true again, over half of the list will wind up on the official lineup.
The alleged lineup includes a diverse array of styles, with representation from Edm, Rock, Rap, Pop and everything in between.

On this week’s True Blood, Jessica runs to Hoyt for comfort, Brigette spends the night with Jason, Pam gives Sarah a makeover, and Eric negotiates the peace between Sookie and Bill.

The Sundance Film Festival programming staff selected the films and music acts for Next Fest.
The festival is an extension of the popular Next <=> section at the Sundance Film Festival, which showcases stylistically adventurous and bold films, and builds on the Institute’s Next Weekend event, hosted in 2013.
John Cooper , Director of the Sundance Film Festival, said, “Next Fest is a continuation of our efforts to connect film-loving audiences with the next generation of independent filmmakers. The unique convergence of film and music enhances the experience of each and offers fresh insight into the talent and vision of these outstanding independent artists.”
Trevor Groth , Director of Programming for the Sundance Film Festival, said, “In the heart of one of the most creative cities in the world, Next Fest will launch a new wave of film and music talent into the artistic atmosphere. The Theatre at Ace Hotel, with its roots in cinematic trailblazing, will serve as the ideal hub for this cultural adventure.”
Sundance Institute members have access to a host of benefits related to Next Fest, including the ability to purchase tickets today, before they go on sale to the general public tomorrow. At the August 7 screening with Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, members will enjoy a reserved seating section and receive an exclusive tote bag, screenprinted live at the event by Hit + Run. Members are also invited to a special party during Next Fest and are eligible to win a prize package including a three-night stay at the Ace Hotel plus airfare. For more information visit Here

In addition to a 10th Anniversary screening of "Napoleon Dynamite" with Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery as the festival’s kickoff event on August 7, Next Fest will present the Los Angeles premieres of six films that first screened at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, and offer unfettered creativity and fresh perspectives. The program features a zombie love story, an Iranian-set vampire movie, a modern tale of buried treasure, a thriller about a mysterious soldier, and films that explore the perils of artistic ambition amongst gang life in Watts and the literary world of New York respectively.
Each film screens once at the Theatre at Ace Hotel August 8-10 and will be paired with either a special music act that shares a complementary artistic sensibility or conversations that bring together filmmakers with those who inspired them.
