One notable project will be transferred from Dceu into the newly established Dcu, and that’s ‘Peacemaker.’ ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 was already confirmed to be in development when Gunn clarified that the show will be canon to the Dcu and that he will make it work in a way that is not confusing for the fans at all, and that the transition between Dceu and Dcu at least as far as ‘Peacemaker’ is concerned will be as smooth as possible.
Now, Gunn went one step further by connecting the upcoming ‘Peacemaker’ season 2 with a highly-awaited animated project ‘Creature Commandos’ that’s supposed to be released this year.
Frank Grillo was cast as Rick Flag Sr. in ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2, after already being confirmed to voice the character for the animated show. This aligns with what Gunn said back when he was presenting the Dcu, that he would like for the voice actors...

A big change is happening as ‘Peacemaker’ moves from Dceu to the new Dcu. Season 2 is in the works and will be part of Dcu canon. Gunn assures fans the shift won’t be confusing and aims for a smooth transition between Dceu and Dcu, especially for ‘Peacemaker’.
Now, Gunn takes it a step further by linking the forthcoming ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 with the much-anticipated animated project ‘Creature Commandos,’ set for release this year.
Frank Grillo has been chosen to portray Rick Flag Sr. in ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2, following his prior confirmation to voice the character in the animated series. This mirrors Gunn’s earlier statement during the Dcu presentation, expressing his desire for voice actors to also appear in live-action roles.
Rick Flag Sr. was once the leader of the Suicide Squadron during WWII. This group, made up of criminals, was sent on perilous missions. Flag Sr. instilled discipline in them and led them successfully.

Actor Ben Barnes, who played the role of Billy Russo/Jigsaw in the Marvel series ‘The Punisher’ from 2017 to 2019, wants to play a superhero before he’s too old. He revealed that he has had talks to feature in other comic book-based projects but they’ve never come to fruition, reports Female First UK.
He told SFX magazine: “Oh my God. I saw pictures the other day of one of my best friends, Will Poulter, in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. Man, he looks good. I want someone to put me in a superhero suit before I age out.”
He further mentioned: “There’s definitely been some chats about a couple of superheroes over the years, which didn’t pan out.”
As per Female First UK, Ben is also open to the idea of playing Jigsaw in a new way.

The renewed thirst for Shadow and Bone's Ben Barnes has steadily been building since it was first announced in 2019 he would join the Netflix adaptation as General Kirigan. On a personal note, my love for the 39-year-old actor began after seeing him in 2007's Stardust and was firmly cemented with his role as the titular Prince Caspian in 2008's The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Since then, he's been both villains and heroes with roles like Logan Delos on Westworld, Billy Russo on The Punisher, Dorian Grey in Dorian Grey, Tom Ward in Seventh Son, and Samuel Adams on Sons of Liberty. Thanks to Shadow and Bone, which premieres on Netflix on April 23, he's back in the fantasy element so many of us first fell in love with him in.
It's hard not to be drawn in by Ben as not only is he gorgeous, he sings and absolutely adores his fans.

The Walt Disney Company has lately made something of an artform out of reimagining its own animated features into (often) billion-dollar live-action films, starting with Alice in Wonderland in 2010 and continuing with Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, as well as the photorealistic computer animated remake of The Lion King.
A live-action version of Mulan, said to be more faithful to the original Chinese folktale than Disney’s 1998 animated film, is set to premiere this Spring, with Cruella, The Little Mermaid, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Peter Pan & Wendy, The Sword in the Stone, Lilo & Stitch, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Bambi, as well as Jungle Book and Aladdin sequels and possible Tinker Bell and Prince Charming projects, slated to be remade over the coming years.
According to The DisInsider, a potential live-action Rapunzel film has now been added to that extensive list as well, though...

If you like Batman, and if you like Ben Barnes, you’re probably itching for him to land the role as Nightwing in the next Caped Crusader adventure. The Punisher star not only looks like the character, but has also proven himself to be a vital cog in the superhero machine. It’s not a stretch to say the show wouldn’t be the same without his backstabbing Billy Russo.
Of course, the jump from backstabbing to having Batman’s back would be a big one. But this wouldn’t be Barnes’ first rodeo as a heroic sidekick. He was terrific as Prince Caspian in The Chronicles of Narnia. A leader with a fearless stare and wavy hair. We also liked him in the BBC drama Gold Digger, where he was given the chance to really show off his acting chops.

In the wake of the recent announcement that The Punisher will not be renewed for a third season, the cast of Steve Lightfoot’s series found they had an unlikely ally in diamond-selling rapper Eminem.
Last night, Marshall Mathers took to Twitter with a message blasting Netflix for their decision to drop the ax on the Marvel Television show, keeping his condemnation short and blunt:
“Dear @Netflix, Regarding Your Cancellation Of The Punisher, You Are Blowing It!! Sincerely, Marshall”
Actors Floriana Lima and Amber Rose Revah have since expressed their thanks for Mathers’ support, and now it seems that Ben Barnes, who played Billy Russo for two seasons, is also happy to have Slim Shady on his side, tweeting the following response:
“No words necessary – @Eminem has spoken”

Yesterday, the inevitable announcement finally came that The Punisher would not be renewed for a third season on Netflix, and while both fans and cast members could see the cancelation coming from a mile off, it still came as a blow to hear it.
In the time since, social media has flooded with posts lamenting how Frank Castle’s journey will most likely end here, and among the responses was one from Ben Barnes. The actor who played Billy Russo for two seasons took to Instagram with an assortment of mostly bloody set photos, along with a message thanking viewers for tuning in:

As beloved as the heroes are, Marvel fans have always rated the Netflix corner of the McU for its villains as well. Over the years, the shows have given us such great antagonists as Wilson Fisk, Cottonmouth and Billy Russo. So as sad as it is that we won’t be seeing more adventures for the likes of Daredevil, Luke Cage and others now that the streaming service has brought the Defenders-verse to an end, we’re also mourning the loss of some of the best villains on TV.
The silver lining, though, is that one of the greatest antagonists might be appearing one last time in Jessica Jones season 3. In response to the announcement that Jj was ending yesterday, a fan expressed their sadness at saying goodbye to David Tennant’s mind-controlling Kilgrave yet again on social media. The Punisher season 2 brought back most of the major players from season 1, including Dinah Madani (Amber Rose Revah), Curtis Hoyle (Jason R. Moore) and Billy Russo (Ben Barnes). However, someone who was conspicuous by their absence was Micro – real name: David Lieberman – Frank Castle’s techie friend who was an indisputable aid in his war on crime last time we saw him.
It was a shame that Ebon-Moss Bachrach’s character didn’t make a comeback, but it’s not much of a surprise, as the first season ended with David finally able to go back home and be with his family after being on the run for so long. Obviously he wouldn’t want to hang around with Frank now that’s got a wife and kids to look after, but according to showrunner Steve Lightfoot, there’s another explanation for where Micro could be during the events of season 2.

Ben Barnes on becoming Jigsaw and Amber Rose Revah on Madani’s quest for revenge in Season 2 of The Punisher.
Two of the characters who return for the second season of Netflix and Marvel’s The Punisher are Billy Russo, played by Ben Barnes, and Agent Dinah Madani, portrayed by Amber Rose Revah.
When we last saw both, they had managed to survive the first season but not without considerable damage. Russo had his memory wiped and his face cut to ribbons -- the latter by Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) himself, who was enraged by his former friend’s actions yet couldn’t bring himself to end Russo’s life. As a result, Season 2 finds Russo suffering from mental damage, fear and ultimately anger, all of which put him on the path to becoming the classic comic book enemy Jigsaw.

You might have to look a little harder to spot the Marvel Easter eggs in The Punisher Season 2 on Netflix, but they're there!
This article consists of nothing but The Punisher Season 2 spoilers.
While the Netflix arm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been happy to take some liberties with their respective area of the shared continuity, The Punisher Season 2 really seems to take that idea and run with it. Not only does it refrain from making any direct references to any major shared moments in either the main McU or the Netflix corner of the universe it also keeps a healthy distance from a good deal of its comics history.

Ben Barnes plays crazed villain Billy Russo Aka Jigsaw on Marvel’s The Punisher, but he’s also got his eye on not only switching to the side of the heroes but also swapping the House of Ideas for DC. The British star, also known for Westworld, has revealed that he’d love to play Batman some day and approach the iconic character in a whole new way.
Heroic Hollywood spoke to Barnes to promote The Punisher season 2 and asked what role he’d like to play outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This led Barnes to recall his own makeshift childhood cosplay as the Dark Knight and his adult desire to follow in the footsteps of fellow Brit Christian Bale and offer his own spin on the Bat, something he also aimed to do as Jigsaw.

[Editor’s note: This review contains spoilers for “The Punisher” Season 2, including the ending.]
One of the most remarkable things about “The Punisher” is the way in which it doesn’t hold in its rage. This is a show that feels fundamentally angry about the world — the criminals working within the system, the systems which oppress good people, the good people who get chewed up through no fault of their own. And it doesn’t hold back, thanks to good ol’ Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), rampaging his way through the world, dealing out his own brand of justice.
The most violent of the “Defenders” universe series, Bernthal’s take on the Punisher was first introduced in “Daredevil” Season 2, but barring a cameo or two his spin-off is easily the most disconnected from the rest of the franchise, one which can easily be enjoyed without catching up on “Iron Fist” or “Luke Cage.” Season 2, after an en media res hyper-violent opener,...

Get ready for some violent brutality in The Punisher Season 2 is which Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) goes on a war path as he unleashes his fury on the villains that are coming for him. In this sequel, Castle finds himself going up against Bill Russo (Ben Barnes), a.k.a. Jigsaw, who is looking to get revenge on Frank and make him pay for what he did to him in the first season.
I hate to think that this is going to be the last season of The Punisher. After this, who knows when and where we’ll see the character show up again. So, we might as well enjoy this series while we have it.
Here’s the full synopsis for the new season:
Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) can run but he can’t hide from who he’s meant to be. Season two finds Frank in all too familiar territory.

Criminals of New York City, watch out! Frank Castle returns this Friday for the second season of Marvel’s The Punisher. Jon Bernthal’s gun-toting vigilante with a vendetta against wrong-doers doesn’t look to be any less angry and bloodthirsty in the sophomore – and probably last – run of the Netflix show, and if you want proof of that, just check out the trailer above.

The Punisher season 2 introduces a very different version of Jigsaw to the Marvel Netflix universe. We get back to his roots...
You ever see a list of the top Punisher villains? Probably not, because, thanks to the skill and dedication of Frank Castle, most Punisher villains tend to die very quickly in really horrible ways. You ever see a list of the top Punisher villains? Probably not, because, thanks to the skill and dedication of Frank Castle, most Punisher villains tend to die very quickly in really horrible ways. It’s difficult to maintain a functioning rogues gallery when your whole mission involves blasting them into bad guy McNuggets at every oportunity.

The Punisher Season 2 is a big improvement over the first season. Hopefully Marvel and Netflix keep it going.
After seeing the titular hero brutally avenge the death of his family in both Daredevil Season 2 and The Punisher Season 1 in what felt like two back-to-back origin stories, Frank Castle is back in The Punisher Season 2. However, this time, with the people responsible for the murder of his wife and children dead (or worse), fans are treated to an exploration of what happens when Frank has to find his own war.
Anyone who knows me, or has had the misfortune of being cornered by me at a party in the last year, knows that I was not the biggest fan of The Punisher Season 1. It wasted a completely competent origin story gifted to it by Daredevil that ended with Frank Castle suiting up in all his trench coat and skull-vest glory,...

Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) is out for blood on the official trailer for The Punisher Season 2 when his old foe Billy Russo (Ben Barnes) returns with an agenda.
Frank “can run but he can’t hide from who he’s meant to be. Season 2 finds Frank in all-too-familiar territory," reads the official logline for the new season.
"With Castle’s former brother-in-arms Billy Russo slowly beginning to heal from the traumatic brain injury Frank inflicted on him, it’s only a matter of time before Billy starts to put the pieces of the puzzle back together.”
Billy is not ready to let Frank off the hook for what went down on The Punisher Season 1, so he sets his sights on some cold hard revenge, and not even the young woman Frank is looking after is safe.
Oh yes, Frank has someone along for the ride and she's going to need...

A barroom brawl propels Frank Castle into a gritty new mystery in the trailer for Season Two of Marvel’s The Punisher, which returns to Netflix January 18th.
The new season starts with Castle (Jon Bernthal) criss-crossing America and grappling with his double-identity as the vigilante hero, the Punisher. One night at a roadhouse, he’s roped back into his crime-fighting ways when he takes out a slew of goons trying to kill a young girl, Amy Bendix (Georgia Whigham). Netflix has released the first full trailer for Marvel’s The Punisher season two, and as you’ll see… it’s brutal! Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) unleashes the bloody fury as he finds himself up against Bill Russo (Ben Barnes), a.k.a. Jigsaw, whose mission is to get revenge on Frank and make him feel the pain. As you’ll see, it looks like the two will beat the living hell out of each other.
I loved season one, and I can;’t wait for season two. Unfortunately, this will probably be the final season of The Punisher that we see on Netflix. So let’s enjoy it while it lasts!

The most recent trailer for season 2 of The Punisher teased the rivalry growing between Frank Castle and Billy Russo, and in this latest preview, that continues to be the case, with the two old friends looking like they’re headed down a dark path. One which will no doubt culminate in an explosive end.
Naturally, this next set of episodes will see the return of Jon Bernthal as the titular antihero, and with the famed vigilante back in the game, showrunner Steve Lightfoot has already promised us that this next run is “about Frank really adopting the mantle of The Punisher.”
Speaking of characters embracing their comic book personas, Billy Russo has seemingly made the transition to Jigsaw in the upcoming season, donning a new mask to hide his many scars, and it looks like he’s got nothing on his mind but revenge for what Frank did to him.

If Frank Castle’s first appearance in Season 2 of Daredevil and Season 1 of Marvel’s The Punisher taught us anything it is that no one leaves a trail of carnage behind like the ruthless vigilante played by Jon Bernthal.
Today, just over one week before the second season of one of the last two Marvel series on Netflix launches, the latest trailer shows the body count has risen and the villains are more crazed than ever.
“I dream about the Punisher every night,” says one of those villains, the returning Billy Russo Aka Jigsaw in the comics and portrayed by Ben Barnes in the new look at the new season. “He thinks he has the right to judge me,” adds Castle’s former friend and betrayer who was left for near dead with his face smashed in glass last season. “I want him to feel what I felt.”
Brothers no more.

Frank Castle, when last Marvel fans saw him, had seemed like he was on the path towards a happier life. But there’s no rest for the Punisher, and as the new trailer for Season 2 of the series reveals, maybe he wants it that way.

Billy Russo ended Season 1 of The Punisher getting his face smashed against glass by his old buddy Frank Castle, and while his face is permanently disfigured, his mind looks to be in a much worse state.
A new clip from the second season of the Marvel/Netflix series shows Ben Barnes’ character in a therapy session opposite Krista Dumont, played by Floriana Lima of Supergirl fame, who tells Billy that she encourages patients in his situation to make masks that “represent what they want to portray to the outside world.” While Billy is already wearing a plain white mask, he scoffs at the idea of decorating it, dismissing the idea as patronizing. “Just do me a favor and think on this,” Krista responds. “What face do you want the world to see?”

Yeah, I know that the villain of The Punisher season two, Billy Russo, will not go by the name of Jigsaw in the series. But, he’s still basically Jigsaw, so I’ll just keep calling him that because every great villain need a good sinister name.
Anyway, Netflix has released a clip for the upcoming season that put the focus on Ben Barnes’ character as he is in therapy. It offers us a glimpse into his state of mind, and this is the session where the therapist talks about creating a mask for himself.
As you know, Frank Castle jacked Billy up in the first season, and the affects of that are going to haunt him and fuel his hate and evilness.

Late last year, the axe fell on both Iron Fist and Luke Cage, and though the third season of Daredevil arrived to a strong response, we learned in late November that even Matt Murdock couldn’t escape the same fate as his fellow Defenders. And now, as the second season of The Punisher approaches, fans are once again bracing themselves for some more bad news.
But first, we can all look forward to at least one more intense outing of the show, with Netflix premiering a brand new trailer today that reveals the premiere date of January 18th along with our first glimpse at Billy Russo’s new look, after Frank busted him up pretty good back in season 1.

The Defenders may have largely vanished, but there’s one Marvel figure that still has life on Netflix. “Marvel’s The Punisher” unveiled a Season 2 trailer, indicating that there’s some stories that have yet to be finished within this Netflix antihero ecosystem.
Jon Bernthal returns as Frank Castle, a military veteran who takes on a new role as a renegade crimefighter under the name “The Punisher.” As the events of last season’s finale hinted, Castle’s season-long foe Billy Russo (Ben Barnes) might be well on his way to becoming the famed Jigsaw villain from the comics that he’s inevitably been heading toward.

Frank obviously isn’t done killing bad guys yet.
It was recently revealed that Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) is going to be embracing his vigilante side and going full on Punisher!
As for the premiere date, in a now deleted tweet from the Netflix account for the Middle East and North Africa, it was shared that the series would premiere on Friday, January 18th. If that doesn’t change, we won’t have to wait much longer before we see Frank Castle back in action!
