Michael Haley(III)
- Director
- Visual Effects
- Animation Department
Michael Francis Haley grew up in Manassas, VA. His father (John) was a
pharmacist. His mother (Matilda) worked different jobs while raising
him and his brother (Sean), including secretary, and sales associate
for women's clothing. His father died soon after suffering a stroke,
and his mother and brother both died of cancer.
Michael began playing the violin at Sudley Elementary School in Manassas, Virginia. He immediately fell in love with the instrument and continues to play to this day. Orchestra was always his favorite class all the way through middle school and high school. He graduated from Stonewall Jackson Senior High (also in Manassas). He then achieved a bachelor's degree in Speech Communication from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
Michael wrote The Blue Chequered Harlequin while still attending GMU. It began as a poem, but he later created illustrations for it and self-published it as a paperback book (under the pen name Francis Kruckvich). He eventually made it into a short animated film and scored the soundtrack himself with his original violin music. He has also produced several music CDs featuring his violin music.
Michael Francis Haley still performs as a professional violinist and continues to compose music. He is also writing stories and working on original art. More books and short films are planned for the not too distant future.
