When Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, Marvel Studios regained the Fantastic Four and X-Men. Captain Britain may or may not fall into the latter category, but he's a character we've been waiting to see in the MCU for a long time.
We're pretty sure Brian Braddock has always belonged to Marvel Studios, with only his sister - Betsy Braddock - and a few mutant supporting players likely off-limits before the Disney/Fox merger.
Regardless, a new rumour shared by scooper @MyTimeToShineH claims that a Captain Britain TV series is in the works for Disney+. That's all we have to go on for now, though we'd be shocked if Marvel's MI13 and Excalibur comics don't influence what we see.
There's also no word on a premiere date or the heroes and villains who will take centre stage beyond Captain Britain.

Amidst a slew of projects in the MCU’s pipeline, with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ being the sole 2024 release, there’s been a shift in focus towards quality over quantity, as announced by Iger previously. However, recent rumors suggest otherwise, indicating a multitude of projects currently in development.
Among these projects is a series centered around Captain Britain, potentially replacing the previously rumored MI13 show.
The inclusion of Captain Britain in the MCU isn’t a recent development, with rumors dating as far back as 2018. For the uninitiated, Captain Britain, alter ego of Brian Braddock, transcends being merely a British counterpart to Captain America. Introduced in 1976, his character is imbued with mystical powers by Merlyn, blending elements of a superhero with those of a mystical guardian. Often, his adventures traverse magical realms, offering a captivating layer to the MCU’s narrative landscape.

MCU has a lot of projects currently in development, despite ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ being the only movie to be released in 2024. Iger announced a while back that they are going to focus on quality over quantity but if recent rumors are true, that may not be the case since plenty of projects are rumored to be in development currently.
One of those projects is a show focusing on Captain Britain, which is possibly a project that replaced the rumored MI13 show.
Captain Britain in the MCU is nothing new, as the character was rumored to join the MCU as early as 2018. For those unfamiliar, Captain Britain, also known as Brian Braddock, is more than just a British “version of Captain America“. If you grew up in the '90s, there's no way you could have escaped the cultural impact of "X-Men: The Animated Series." Alongside fellow Fox Kids superhero shows "Batman: The Animated Series" and "Spider-Man," the X-Men's animated adventures represented a true high point for superhero animation at the close of the century. Of course, it helped that the mutant team came armed with one of the most undeniably cool theme songs of all time. But the show itself was, much like the aforementioned Batman and the Spidey cartoons, memorable for not treating kids like dummies and including some pretty mature storylines and themes. As such, "X-Men: The Animated Series" left an indelible mark on kids around the globe with its 1992-'97 run.
Now, Disney is capitalizing on that popularity with "X-Men '97," which is set to debut on the Disney+ streaming service on March 20, 2024. Ahead of the release...

There was a slew of questionable decisions made in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, many of which have been cited time and time again as the beginning of the fall for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from turning Wanda into the villain to killing Earth 838’s Illuminati. However, a new theory proposed that from the ashes of the doomed sequel, Marvel’s next big hero could rise, and even make an appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Captain Britain
Given that a multiversal threat systematically slaughtered Earth 838’s Illuminati, it is without a doubt that this team would look to reassemble its numbers, with a focus on the threat at hand: Multiversal Incursions and Invasion. One character that would be great for the job, while also filling in for Captain Carter, would be Brian Braddock: Captain Britain.

Henry Cavill was well on his way to enlisting in the military and joining the Royal Marines like a couple of his older brothers if acting had not snatched him up when he was 17. He stepped into Hollywood with a role in the film Laguna, released in 2001. Luckily, he caught the eye of a casting director visiting his school who cast him in a role in 2002’s The Count of Monte Cristo.
Henry Cavill went on to star as the DC Comics superhero Clark Kent/Superman. Recently, there has been a lot of talk surrounding his debut as a Marvel character. Although the actor is not opposed to playing a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), he has a condition that must be fulfilled if he plays a Marvel character.

Henry Cavill began his superhero career on screen as part of the most iconic trinity in comic books. Starring alongside Ben Aflleck’s Batman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Cavill’s Superman is a character that a lot of fans swear by even today, after the demise of the DC Extended Universe.
Henry Cavill as Superman
A new rumor suggests that Henry Cavill has signed a deal with Marvel, with the popular consensus being that it will be for the role of Captain Britain. With Reed Richards also coming to the MCU, and Thor looking for a revamp, it seems that a new multiversal trinity could be making its debut ahead of Avengers: Secret Wars, one that has the multiversal might to fight Kang and his army of Variants. If the rumors regarding Captain Britain are true, Henry Cavill could find himself at the center of another iconic superhero trinity.

Henry Cavill has expressed his eagerness to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain Britain. In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill mentioned he’s aware of the buzz around him taking up the role and finds the idea quite appealing. ‘I have the internet, and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain, and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America. Introduced in 1976, this character wields magical powers granted by Merlyn, making him a unique blend of superhero and mystical protector. His stories often intertwine with magical realms, adding a rich layer to his character that could bring a fresh twist to the MCU.

The recent Knights of X #1 marks a new chapter in the ongoing saga of Betsy Braddock, the mutant telepath once known as Psylocke of the X-Men and currently serving as Captain Britain. The final issues of Excalibur saw the conquest of Otherworld, Marvel’s version of the realm of faerie magic, at the hands of Merlyn and King Arthur. This cut Otherworld off from Krakoa, effectively isolating Betsy and the rest of the Captain Britain Corps there. Luckily, she’s got some help! Roma, Merlyn’s daughter and a friend to the X-Men from days past, gives Betsy the chance to assemble a team for a proper Arthurian quest to find the artifact known as the Siege Perilous.
There’s just one question newer readers may be wondering…

Marvel announced the first major crossover of Jonathan Hickman’s Dawn of X era of X-Men. X of Swords will tie all the X-titles together in a ’90s throwback, 15-part crossover touching every single book in the line.

Marvel’s X-Men reboot won’t come our way for a while, but the Children of the Atom may be introduced into the McU much sooner. After all, it’s already known that Deadpool will likely debut in a cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but there may be another mutant character who’ll feature even earlier than that. Specifically, in the film preceding DS2 – February 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
According to sources close to Wgtc – the same ones who told us months ago that Deadpool 3 was now in active development, which Ryan Reynolds confirmed last week – X-Men member Psylocke will show up for a brief cameo in Shang-Chi. The movie, set to introduce Simu Liu as the titular master martial artist, will see Shang-Chi participating in a tournament which will allow for various comic book foes to appear as his opponents.

It’s not officially confirmed, but it’s looking likely that Henry Cavill has played Superman for the last time in the Dceu. As he only got to portray the Man of Steel three times, though, and arguably never reached his full potential in the role, there’s a lot of hope from superhero fans that he gets to find himself another part in the comic book movie genre. Mostly, folks want to see him join the McU. And if that was to happen, what character would make more sense than the Sentry?

Avengers: Endgame is certainly not short on easter eggs, as it contains numerous nods to past films in the McU, references various comic book storylines and gives us a few hints at future heroes to come. One that a lot of folks missed, though, was a nod to a relatively obscure Marvel character.
It occurs when Steve Rogers heads back to Camp Lehigh in 1970. While there, he sees Peggy Carter through an office window. She’s oblivious to him though, as she’s in the midst of a conversation with a S.H.I.E.L.D. operative. Though it’s tough to make out what exactly she’s saying, fans have since figured out that she mentions an incident involving a supernatural phenomena that was “not lightning” and that an agent named “Braddock” hasn’t checked in.
Clearly, this has to be a nod to Brian Braddock Aka Captain Britain.

As the Easter eggs in Endgame just keep rolling in, most of them are just fun, but we’ve had a few that may be impactful to the future of the McU. Obviously this is spoiler territory, so if you haven’t seen the movie, keep it moving!
This one takes place in the 1970s, when Steve Rogers and Tony Stark head back in time to retrieve the Tesseract, and in the process of sneaking around and getting the job done at the original S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Captain America ducks into an office while trying to hide out, which happens to be the office of Peggy Carter, who is in the next room looking frazzled, and dealing with a work situation.
While we were distracted in the moment, seeing Cap get all starry-eyed looking at his long lost love, what Agent Carter was discussing was actually...

Avengers: Endgame is certainly not short on easter eggs, as it calls back to past movies in the McU, references various comic book stories and also drops hints at future heroes to come. There’s one that most people missed, though, as it’s both a nod to a relatively obscure Marvel hero and is very difficult to make out.
When Steve Rogers travels back to Camp Lehigh in 1970, he catches a glimpse of his lost love Peggy Carter through an office window. She’s oblivious to him though, as she’s currently having a discussion with a S.H.I.E.L.D. operative. It’s hard to make out what Peggy’s saying here, but Reddit user u/droideka75 has noted that she mentions an incident involving some supernatural phenomena that was “not lightning” and that an agent named “Braddock” hasn’t checked in.

What’s next for Henry Cavill?
That’s the million-dollar question currently ricocheting off the walls of the Internet, after it was confirmed that the actor would no longer be playing the part of Clark Kent/Superman for Warner Bros. and DC Films.
The parent company has since released an official statement about the whole ordeal, though it’s riddled with PR speak and is therefore difficult to parse beyond the fact that Warner has “always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.” That tells us nothing.
Regardless, it seems the studio was the one to cut ties with Henry Cavill due to The Witcher series that’s about to burst into life at Netflix, and the fact that Supergirl will soon be taking priority in a post-Justice League world. But the question remains: what’s next for Henry Cavill? Well,...

Though fans are desperate to know what’s coming next, Marvel Studios is keeping a tight hold on what films they have planned for Phase Four of the McU. A few potential projects have been discussed, though, such as Eternals, Nova and Young Avengers. Now, though, we might just know of another: a solo movie for the UK’s own superhero, Captain Britain.
Ain’t It Cool News has reported that they’ve been contacted by a source known as “Super Grip,” allegedly a British film crew member who’s leaked to the site that Marvel has booked Pinewood Studios in London later this year to shoot Captain Britain and the Black Knight, directed by none other than Guy Ritchie. According the source, Marvel have seized on the gap in Pinewood’s schedule left by the Bond 25 debacle.

A recent rumor has surfaced that Guy Ritchie (Snatch, Sherlock Holmes) is directing a Captain Britain and The Black Knight film for Marvel Studios. The news comes from an inside source at Pinewood Studios that sent the following info to AICN:
"I work at various movie studios in the UK and have been situated at Pinewood for a few weeks, and I'm moving to Cardiff on a project soon. I haven't seen anything about this online anywhere, so I thought id send the info on to you: Space at Pinewood has been booked for November & December 2018 to hold auditions for a Marvel project called Captain Britain And The Black Knight. The name of the director booked in for all these dates is Guy Ritchie. Marvel seems to be moving fast with it to fill in the space left behind by Danny Boyle's aborted Bond 25. Everyone is excited...

Simon Pegg is a geek treasure for his various roles in major franchises like Star Trek, Mission: Impossible and even Star Wars (he was Unkar Plutt in The Force Awakens, remember?). One big one he’s yet to tick off, however, is Marvel.
Recently, it went around that Pegg was looking to play English superhero Captain Britain in an McU movie. Something which got fans of both the actor and the underrated character excited. Unfortunately, though, it sounds like we should probably measure our excitement, as he’s now stepped back from his previous comments a little.
ScreenRant asked Pegg to elaborate on his wish to play Captain Britain in a recent interview, which led the star to explain that, though he’s read the hero’s comics since he was a kid, he doesn’t actually have any burning desire to play him on the big screen. He made...

What with Avengers 4 gearing up to put a bow on Phase Three, Phase Four of the McU, on the other hand, is just getting started. Spider-Man: Far From Home is set to kickoff what’s sure to be the most ambitious chapter yet in the highest grossing film franchise of all-time, and with production now underway on the web-slinger’s sophomore feature, set pics, as you might expect, continue to pour in.
The latest batch of photos – which, fear not, contain no spoilers whatsoever – come to us via Heroic Hollywood (H/T Ok! Magazine). And although they don’t provide much in the way of detail regarding the sequel itself, the snapshots do find titular star Tom Holland enjoying himself quite a bit, despite having – excuse the proverbial idiom – bitten the dust during the devastating climax of Avengers: Infinity War.

What with Ant-Man and the Wasp mere days from release, production on Captain Marvel nearing completion and the pièce de résistance, Avengers 4, preparing for “pick-ups,” we’re inching closer to putting a bow on Phase Three. Phase Four of the McU, on the other hand, is still very much up in the air.
Although, given that up until this point, each batch has consisted of at least six entries, and only a pair of Phase Four installments have been confirmed thus far – Spider-Man: Far From Home and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – we fully expect to hear a lot more regarding the most ambitious chapter in McU history quite soon. And seeing as the former will be up first, I guess it’s as good a place to start as any.
Having received corroboration that Spidey’s sophomore feature will indeed be titled Far From Home, and confirmation that...

Orlando Bloom’s no stranger to blockbuster movie franchises, as he’s been in both Pirates of the Caribbean and the Middle-earth saga since the early 2000s. But to date, he’s never dipped his toes into the superhero genre. Would the British star be up for that, though? Well, it turns out that he’s a bit of a Marvel fan, in particular, and has one character he wouldn’t mind taking a stab at.
While speaking on BBC Radio 2, the conversation turned towards Marvel movies and Bloom admitted that he does dabble in the comic book world. He then mentioned Captain Britain as a potential role he’d be interested in, though he had some strong words to say about the hero’s Union Jack-inspired outfit.
“I do read [Marvel Comics] a little bit. Who’s the British one? Captain Britain! There you go. Terrible costume, though.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is continually going from strength to strength, so the studio will no doubt keep on raiding the back catalogue of the comics universe for many more characters in the hope of turning them into the next Iron Man or Black Panther. If they’re looking for another hit on the level of Captain America, though, they might want to try England’s very own counterpart to Steve Rogers – the aptly-named Captain Britain.
While there’s been nothing to say he’ll ever show up on the big screen, if a movie featuring the character was to ever come to fruition, one popular British actor has put their name forward to feature in it in some capacity – Star Trek‘s Simon Pegg. The actor and all-round geek hero revealed to JoBlo that he’s loved Captain Britain since childhood and would be keen to take part in a film featuring the character,...

Tom Hiddleston might have already won the hearts of Marvel fans the world over with his beloved portrayal of mischievous anti-villain Loki, but he wouldn’t mind trying his hand at a different classic comic book antagonist in the McU.
Collider asked the long-running star of the franchise what other Marvel characters he might like to play. At first, Hiddleston suggested having a go at portraying a superhero, putting his name forward for the UK’s very own answer to Steve Rogers: Captain Britain.
“Gosh, I don’t know. Is there a Captain Britain? Is he an interesting character? Probably there is.”
He’s right, there is indeed a Captain Britain in Marvel’s library. Brian Braddock might not be as famous as his counterpart from across the pond, but he has a certain cult following. Comic book supremo Alan Moore even wrote a run of comics starring the...
